Chapter 1217: The fourth duel.

Chapter 1217: The fourth duel.

“Damn…” — Hailey bit her nails nervously as she watched the drawn-out duel between Arslan and this Frostborn.

Was she worried about Arslan?

Of course not. She was just jealous of him.

Ned, who was standing nearby, also couldn’t take his eyes off the fight, clenching his fists in excitement.

Hours passed, and the duel between them did not subside.

“It looks like they won’t be finished soon,” Hailey mused as she watched Frostborn retreat again, giving Arslan a chance to regain his strength.

“She’s still only using one sword…”

Hailey couldn’t forget that sight.

Every time she thought about it, a shudder ran through her body.

“Would I have been able to survive in Arslan’s place?” she wondered, but she couldn’t give a definite answer.

She assumed that maybe she would have survived, and maybe not.

Since then, she noticed that Frostborn’s strength had dropped a lot.

Hailey turned away from Frostborn and turned her attention to Arslan. He sat quietly, surrounding himself with an ice barrier, and regained his strength without fear.

Arslan looked tired, covered in blood and bruises, but his fighting spirit was still burning, and he wasn’t going to give up.

“During these hours, he got so used to his opponent that he stopped even looking at her, completely focusing on restoring his strength.”

Hailey couldn’t help but laugh.

But what really struck her was how much Arslan had grown during those hours.

At first, it may seem that Frostborn is mocking him. But as the fight progressed, Arslan began to adapt quickly, using his barriers more skillfully and creatively. Moreover, he began to read his opponent’s movements and anticipate her actions.

As a result, the duel between them turned into a kind of training session.

That was exactly what Hailey envied.

She would like to have a fight in which she could not only fight a worthy opponent, but also become stronger.

When Arslan recovered a little, the fight resumed.

Hailey and Ned were watching the fight when suddenly an ice wall appeared on the opposite wall of the cave.

They looked at each other and, paying attention to this wall, saw another arena behind it. While studying her, Hailey noticed a lone figure appear in the arena.

“Irene?”

***

When Irene found herself in an unfamiliar place, she realized that she had become the “random” one that had been chosen.

The first thing she realized was that she quickly looked around. But not in order to understand where he is, but in search of a specific person.

When she couldn’t find anyone, she frowned.

“Where is he?”

Despite her calm and detached appearance, deep down she was very worried about Arslan. Since he disappeared, his image has not left her thoughts, becoming more intrusive by the hour.

At this moment, figures began to appear on the surrounding rocks.

“The Frostborns?” Irene thought, momentarily distracted from her worries. Immediately, she noticed an ice wall that seemed to have grown out of nowhere.

——————–

“Defeat the champion of the Ice Caves”

“Victory — 1 point for the team”

“Loss — 1 point for Ice Caves”

“Total of 5 duels”

“You’re the fourth”

“The side that gets 3 points first wins”

——————–

“A duel? Am I the fourth? Three points?”

Irene, who had been frowning, suddenly relaxed, and her gaze became blank.

“If I’m the fourth and the winner hasn’t been determined yet, does that mean one of them has lost?”

As soon as she realized this, it was as if something clicked inside her.

She couldn’t accept the thought that something bad could happen to them, especially to Arslan — a man who was very important to her.

Her rival, young Frostborn, appeared opposite her.

Irene only took a quick glance in his direction before closing her eyes.

Frostborn stopped and looked at Irene.

Her cold and flawless appearance reminded him of them in some way.

But when Irene opened her eyes, he saw black and white rotating hypnotic eyes that made his mind turn off and his body stay in place.

Two void telekinetic daggers materialized behind Irene and rushed towards Frostborn.

One of them aimed directly at the forehead, and the other aimed at the heart area.

When the daggers were almost at the target, her opponent suddenly disappeared, and the blades pierced the air.

Irene frowned as her daggers continued to move.

When her opponent disappeared, she turned her gaze to the audience, and the daggers, following her gaze, changed their target.

But at that moment, a strong wind blew, followed by a snowstorm that blocked her view.

The next moment, when she was about to dispel the storm with a void explosion, she discovered that she was inside a dark room, and two people were standing in front of her.

Ned met her terrifying gaze with a grin, and Hailey, terrified, trembled all over and tried not to look her in the eye.

The hypnotic gaze wavered, and the rotation stopped.

Irene looked around.

“Where is he?” she asked emotionlessly, sinking into a state of emptiness.

And before Ned or Hailey could respond, space distorted, and a fourth person appeared in the room.

“Huh?”

Puzzled, Arslan looked around. He had just deflected another attack from the crazy woman’s sword when he suddenly appeared here.

His fight wasn’t over yet.

“Arslan…”

Hearing a familiar voice, Arslan turned around and saw Irene.

When he saw her hypnotic eyes, he wasn’t afraid. On the contrary, this realization helped him understand what was going on.

His fight with Frostborn dragged on so much that Irene was chosen as the fourth participant, and she won. The fact that he was teleported meant only one thing — their team had earned three points. His fight was over.

“You won…”

Arslan smiled with joy, realizing that his torment was over, and suddenly relaxed. His legs gave out and he lost consciousness.

Irene quickly picked him up and hugged him.

Ned instantly activated his Alpha Light abilities and used a healing spell.

Hugging Arslan and feeling his warmth, Irene couldn’t relax. Instead, she seemed to explode and start crying, pouring out everything she had been holding in for a long time.

Along with the storm of emotions that engulfed her, the emptiness receded, and her eyes returned to their usual brown shades.

Hailey blinked in disbelief. Always cold and collected, Irene cried like a little girl.

She looked at Ned, who just shrugged his shoulders in response to her dumb question.

And then they both noticed how an inscription appeared on the Ice Wall.

——————–

“The duel is over!”

“Congratulations on your victory!”

“You’ve earned 1 point for your team!”

“The score is 3:0”

“Your team has won.”

“The final stage begins.”

——————–

Ned and Hailey noticed Nemo and the others entering the arena.

A woman with long white hair, pupil-less eyes, and a snow-white dress appeared in front of them.

Ned and Hailey looked at each other, and the same thought flashed through their minds.:

“The Supervisor of the Ice Caves.”
