Chapter 1269: Tell us, what do you want?

When Mama Dragon asked about her dragon core, Hailey cringed in fear.

Everything else, including candy and Idan, faded into the background.

The dragons focused all their attention on Hailey, and the more they looked and studied her, the darker and angrier they became.

“That’s it… I’m doomed,” Hailey thought, mentally saying goodbye to life.

Her “parents” were not just dragons, but Rank 9 dragons. Hayley couldn’t hide from them not only her cracked Dragon core, but also the fact that her lava bloodline had an unstable synchronization with the power of the Ice Dragon.

“Who did this to you?” growled Mama Dragon in anger.

Then their eyes turned to the only one here who wasn’t a dragon, Idan, who wasn’t even aware of what was happening.

“Is that you?” The powerful pressure of the Papa Dragon descended on Idan, making him unable to move. “How dare you experiment on her?”

Idan was stunned by the sudden and unfounded accusation.

He didn’t immediately start shouting and making excuses, but tried to figure out the situation.

“No!” came Hailey’s cry.

And so the one who had been cowering against the lava rose and stood in front of Idan, protecting him with her massive dragon body.

“The Master… The master didn’t do anything wrong to me,” Hailey confessed. “It’s my own fault for what happened.”

Both dragons opened their eyes in surprise and looked at each other.

“Did you do this to yourself?” There was a note of disbelief in the Mama Dragon’s voice.

As dragons, they couldn’t understand how a dragon with an already established bloodline could try to adopt the traits of a completely different dragon. Dragons were proud of their bloodline and never mixed it with another, except in a natural way, during procreation.

Hailey’s act brought back memories of Blood Dragons from the two dragons. Only the Blood Dragons, despised by everyone, dared to mix their own bloodline with others, and that was why they were almost completely exterminated.

“Yes,” Hailey admitted quietly and briefly talked about her battle with the Ice Dragon in the Ice Caves, where she decided to do this act.

The result was a cracked Dragon core and an unstable state. She couldn’t use the Ice Lava without consequences. Although she could still use her normal abilities, she couldn’t use them to their full potential.

After listening to her, the two dragons fell into silence. Only the baby dragon continued to happily devour the sweets, completely oblivious to what was happening.

The silence was interrupted by Mama Dragon.

“Child, we are ready to help you,” she said.

“But…” said Papa Dragon. “Tell us, what do you want?”

Hailey looked up cautiously.

“Do you want us to refine and repair your core, or do you want us to help you restore and stabilize your conflicting bloodlines?”

Hayley didn’t have to think long, because she had already chosen her path a long time ago—the path that her Dragon System had prepared for her.

“The second one,” she said. “Please help me restore my Dragon Core and stabilize the conflicting bloodlines.”

Mama Dragon and Papa Dragon calmly accepted her choice, as if they were already prepared for such an answer.

“We respect your choice, although we do not approve of it. Therefore, we will help you to stabilize both of your bloodlines. But remember, this is the first and last time we interfere. Next time, you’ll have to take responsibility for the consequences of your chosen path,” Papa Dragon said.

“I understand,” Hailey nodded. The fact that she wasn’t killed and agreed to help with the restoration of her cracked core was already enough. She didn’t need more than that.

“Follow me, Child,” — Mama Dragon called, starting to walk into the depths of the lava lake, taking the baby dragon with her.

Hailey turned around and looked at Idan. After receiving his nod of approval, she obediently followed Mama Dragon, still trying not to raise her head too high.

Papa Dragon stayed where he was, watching them go.

When they were out of sight, he turned his gaze to Idan.

“We will restore her Dragon Core and bring the conflicting bloodlines into balance,” he said. “But you have to understand: it won’t fix the root of the problem.”

Idan frowned.

“Even after the core is restored?”

“The crack in the core is just a consequence. The reason lies in the forces that she has combined within herself. We can help them co-exist, but we are not able to make them one. If she continued to use the Icy Lava, the balance would be in jeopardy again. And if one day he tries to adopt the features of another dragon…”

Papa Dragon was silent for a while.

“Everything can happen again. And next time, the consequences will be much heavier.”

Idan looked in the direction Hailey had gone.

“So she’ll have to give up her new power?”

“Will she refuse?” Papa Dragon asked instead of answering.

Idan didn’t say anything.

He knew the answer perfectly well.

Hailey has already chosen her path. She risked her life to obtain this power, and almost lost her Dragon Core. Even that didn’t make her regret what she had done.

Papa Dragon sighed softly.

“We don’t approve of her choice, but it’s too late to try to stop her. Once they have experienced the power of another bloodline, such dragons are rarely able to give it up. They begin to look for new traits, new abilities, and new ways to transcend their own limits.”

There was a faint heaviness in his voice.

“We’ve seen something like this before.”

“Were there dragons that could merge other bloodlines?” Idan asked in surprise.

Papa Dragon’s vertical pupils narrowed slightly. Then he nodded.

“Blood dragons. They were despised not only for absorbing other dragon’s bloodlines. What scared the other dragons the most was that some of them actually managed to find a way to reconcile incompatible blood within themselves.”

Idan thought about these words.

If Hailey intended to continue on her way, just restoring the Dragon Core wasn’t enough for her. Sooner or later, she would have to face the need to obtain the Blood Dragon bloodline.

Seeing Idan’s thoughtfulness, Papa Dragon straightened up, as if not intending to explain anything more.

“I didn’t tell you anything, young man.”

A slight smile appeared on Idan’s face.

“Of course. I didn’t hear anything.”
