The Alpha's Unwanted Bride

Chapter 763: SHALL I OR SHALL I NOT

Chapter 763: SHALL I OR SHALL I NOT

RUBY’S POV

“Ruby!”

I instant jumped up, startled back to reality.

“Where has your mind been lately?” Mother asked me.

I could feel her eyes scrutinising over me.

I itched my hair and yawned. “I’m sorry. I’m just tired.”

She was holding a bunch of herbs in her arm before she resumed chopping. “Hand me the wooden spoon next to you.”

I rubbed my eyes and did as she had requested.

She received it and I turned back to looking down at the table.

I considered telling her what had happened.

My mind flashed back to the hallucinations I had had.

Drowning, feeling like I was about to die, the strange immense feeling of power.

I shivered.

What was going on with me.

“Mother what’s wrong with me?” I blurted out without thinking.

Mother paused from what she was doing and slowly turned to look at me.

She genuinely seemed horrified that I had used such a word.

“Wrong with you?” She asked startled. “Www.. wh… honey, why would you think anything is wrong with you.”

“Is there anyone in our family who might have had something like this?” I asked raising my palms and looking down at them.

She sighed heavily.

“Maybe my grandparents.” I expressed hopefully.

I had never met any of mother or father’s relatives.

None of them liked to speak on any of them, so after asking over and over I had given up.

She didn’t respond.

“I’m already eighteen.” I said through a weak voice. “I am eighteen getting to nineteen. My wolf can shift any moment from now. Who knows what will happen to me when that happens. Who knows if I’ll explode into some burst of magic and expose myself.”

“Ruby that wouldn’t happen.” She insisted as she returned back to her herbs.

I went by her side and made sure to look at her.

“How do you know that?” I asked. “If one day someone finds out that I’m such a freak. They will have me executed.”

Mother snapped the knife in her hand down on the table. “No daughter of mine is a freak.”

“Then help me.” I pleaded.

She picked up her knife and resumed her chopping. “I have told you. I’m researching. I am awaiting some information from some friends in far away packs. Hopefully we can find something that could control it.”

“Why not our own bloodline. Maybe if we found someone. Somebody we are related to and this had happened to them,” I explained further. “Then we can know how to handle this. Maybe they have controlled it before.”

“Ruby.” Mother said sadly. “I am trying my best.”

“It isn’t enough!” I said harshly startling both mother and myself.

I swallowed hard.

We both stood there.

My heart racing so fast it almost leapt from my chest.

I felt so terrible.

The look she had on her face.

I started to apologize and then I realized.

No.

She had zero idea how I felt.

Zero idea what it meant to be very careful coming contact with anyone’s

How scared I was my life was going to end.

She would never understand.

I had wanted to tell her what I had seen but no.

She would dismiss my feelings.

And moreover, there was no point in telling her any of it.

She would keep me locked up forever.

Never give a solution.

She insisted on refusing to introducing me to any of my relatives.

Even though it was the one possible way out of the predicament we were in.

I clenched my fists in anger and said. “I need to go and get some more herbs for the medicine. We’re out of a few of them.”

Without waiting for what she had to say, I hurried out of the room.

Once I slammed the door shut, I leaned against the door and heaved a heavy sigh.

Once I was sure I was more composed, I dressed the imaginary lines of my dress and hurried off to where the kitchen was.

I could see the guards looking at me.

As usual.

It was now something I was used to.

How much they stared at me like I was an exotic pet just for their keeping.

Ever since I had come to the pack house, I barely saw Aston and it was truly a good riddance.

He was the worst of the worst.

Now that the sons of the Alpha had come to the pack, he didn’t seem to have much power anymore.

I shook my head and hurried off.

I found myself in the kitchen and snooped by the chef’s gardens to find some herbs that would be beneficial for medicine.

There were some members of the pack that had fallen sick.

With every single member mother treated, she received a pay from the pack.

I saw Alice beating dough and I instantly remembered what I had seen earlier this morning.

“Ruby.” She waved at me, calling me over.

I finished thanking the chef for the items I had gotten and went over to where she was.

“Where have you been?” She asked me as she tucked a strand of her fake hair behind her ear.

I shrugged. “Nothing much. I was just assisting Lord Bale.”

She giggled and then whispered. “I have something to tell you.”

I rose a brow as she motioned me to come closer.

I did and she whispered. “I slept with Lord Aiden.”

I tried my best to look surprised.

“Really?” I nodded in false surprise.

She didn’t seem to notice anything astray.

She was too busy blushing and giggling.

She pressed her hand into the dough and smiled.

“He was everything.” She said in excitement. “The things he did to me.”

She looked so dreamy and that disturbed me.

“I was in there all night.” She informed me. “He couldn’t have enough of me. He wanted me to stay with him, but I had to just leave. You know you shouldn’t show these wolves that they are interesting.”

“Uh-huh.” I said not sure what I saw was what she was explaining.

Or was I now imagining everything?

“He is going to ask me to be his Luna.” She said
