Chapter 764: NAIVE

I had dug the plants into the pockets of my apron and picked up a cup of water to drink.

“He is going to ask me to be his Luna.”

I choked on the water.

The water hung in my throat as I coughed and coughed.

“Are you okay?” She asked leaving the dough and coming to my side.

I tapped on my chest while she assisted in patting my back.

I coughed and coughed until my throat and chest finally eased down.

“Heavens are you okay now?” She asked me.

I nodded while I motioned for her to hand me my cup of water.

She did and I was able to drink it down.

My eyes felt red from the excessive coughing.

Alice’s words had almost sent me to my early grave before the Queen herself did.

Once I was sure I was okay, I cleared my throat and looked at her, my voice low so no one heard us.

“Did you say he was going to ask you to be his Luna?” I asked hoping that I had heard wrong.

She nodded. “Yes. But you can’t tell anyone anything.”

Oh goddess.

“Did he tell you that he was going to?” I asked her.

She bit her bottom lip and then. “I mean he didn’t explicitly say he was going-

Oh sweet goddess.

“But it’s the way he acted with me.” She said a big smile stuck on my face. “It was just perfect. He is my first you know.”

Good goddess of the moon!

“I thought you had said you wanted someone special to be your first!” I said bewildered.

“Shhhh…” she shushed me and I closed my mouth shut.

She looked around first and then caught my arm and pulled me to the side.

“Yes, I did and Aiden is that special someone.” She said. “I knew it from the moment I saw him.”

I shook my head. “Alice you haven’t really met anyone else other than him.”

It was true and she knew it.

We were so tight knit in the pack that we all knew each other.

Grown up together, lived together, died together.

The odds that your mate was your next door neighbor was extremely high.

We all knew each other in the pack.

That was how small we were.

So of course anyone new that came to the pack in over a hundred year would be enticing.

We hadn’t had a stranger for that long.

And of course it made sense why Alice would see him as special.

She had always mentioned how she wanted someone special to be her first.

Someone meaningful.

I had hoped and prayed from the moment I had seen her step out from Aiden’s room that she had already done something with someone else.

Only to hear from her very own lips that she had in fact been with that awful boy.

Given him her virginity!

“I don’t need to meet anyone else.” She said vindictive. She frowned at me and I could feel her withdraw. “Ruby I told you because I believed you wouldn’t judge me.”

“No no of course not. I’m not judging you.” I expressed. “I’m just looking out for you. That’s all.”

She seemed a bit relaxed. “I appreciate that, but I’m fine. I know what I’m doing. Ruby, it was really the best thing that had ever happened to me. I already feel a connection. Hopefully this was what I needed to break the Carmel’s back and finally shift. I needed to become a woman.”

The whole thing was ridiculous.

But I had no choice other than to support her.

“I’m happy wherever you are happy.” I said gently touching her arms.

She smiled back at me. “It means a lot. All the other girls in the pack were equally trying to get a piece of him. But now that I’m the one he wants. They can’t come close.”

How could I explain to her that wolves like him were not meant for she wolves like us.

All they ever did was use and dump before returning back to the she wolves their parents had kept for them whether she was his mate or not.

Aiden was definitely not an exception.

Pompous, arrogant and selfish.

I knew what he was all about.

What I feared the most was how Alice was going to take it when it finally happened.

“Don’t worry.” She pinched my arm. “When things get smooth between us, I’ll try my best so you can be with his brother. I see the two of you have been hanging around a lot lately. I’m sure it won’t be a problem.”

“Gosh!” I exclaimed in disbelief . “He is just a friend.”

She shrugged. “I don’t know what you even see in him. He is the weakling and doesn’t have anything to offer. But then again you’ve always had a thing for poor things.”

I frowned at the way she had spoken about Bale.

Bale was sweet and caring.

Nothing like his brother.

Seeing her speak about him in such regard.

I rolled my eyes at her in annoyance and then the chef rang the kitchen bells.

“It’s almost dark! Meals have to be served!” He waved at everyone in the kitchen. “Start serving the meals for heaven’s sake.”

“I’ll talk to you later.” She said to me before hurrying off to resume her duties.

I started to head off on my way towards the door when the chef stopped me in my tracks.

“Ruby.” He said his large body blocking the kitchen entrance. “Some of the girls aren’t around. I’ll need you to assist in serving the meals please.”

I sighed.

At least it still gave me some time to be far away from my mother.

“Alright.” I said and turned around back to the kitchen.

The melas were served and we were handed trays as we trooped out towards the hall.

The dinner halls were opened and we went in one after the other.

And then I sighed him.
