Chapter 785: AIDEN THE SAVIOR
Chapter 785: AIDEN THE SAVIOR
RUBY’S POV
The moment we stepped out of the room, I closed my eyes to stifle the pin.
Why was my body not healing?
“What did Aston say?” Aiden asked behind me as I leapt. “What did he want?” ”Wasn’t it obvious?” I asked sarcastically.
And then I felt bad.
After all, Aiden had virtually said my life.
The least I could do was be nice to out.
“I don’t mean to offend you.” I explained.
He didn’t respond to that.
“You killed him.” I said. “Wouldn’t there be consequences. Aston might have been an asshole but he grew up here and a lot of the wolves here see him as one of their own.” ”Do I look like I care?” He grunted.
Fair enough.
“But you now have enemies.” I pointed out. “Because of me.” ”Aston had it coming for a long time.” Aiden pointed out as he caught me by my waist and lifted me down three broken stairs.
My heart skipped and I felt myself go red.
I didn’t like what being around him did to me, or how it even made me feel at all.
I managed to maintain a distance from Aiden.
I very gently stepped back and withdrew from his hold.
“Wait please.” I managed.
I tried to stand well on my own, but I staggered and he quickly took me by my side, holding me safe.
I felt myself go red and my cheeks flush up.
I was still very much in pain from all the battery.
I coughed aloud and some blood spattered out.
“I’m fine.” I said again. “I can handle myself just fine. You don’t need to carry me.”
I was still traumatised from what had happened.
Flashes of Aston’s body being ripped apart while his intestines crashed out and blood splattered all over the wall.
It made me more scared of Aiden now.
He frowned. “Why are you so stubborn? You aren’t well. Anyone can see that. Perhaps you would prefer it if I carried you instead of holding you this way.” ”No!” I said sharply as I backed off.
That was the last thing I expected from him.
He would only make matters worse.
“I’m okay.”
I swallowed. “Thank you for helping me.” He grunted a response but I didn’t hear much.
“Why does trouble evolve around you Ruby?” He asked me.
I shrugged indifferently.
Ever since Aiden had joined this pack it had been one thing or the other for me.
Series of bad luck.
“It’s like you’re just bad luck.” He remarked as we progressed down the steps.
“More like you are bad luck.” I said.
“What did you say?” He snapped.
“Noting.” I replied as quickly as I could.
Saw that if we took another turn we would make it to the grand hall.
And Everyone was in the Grand hall.
I didn’t need them seeing me assisting me like a child.
I quickly withdrew again from him once again and turned to face him.
I held my hands up.
“I think that you have helped me enough.” I managed.
He looked at me funny.
I was not going to tell him thank you.
My ego wouldn’t let me.
“And I appreciate that.” Was all I could manage. “But I’m fine from here. I can find my way on.”
He grumbled as he caught my arm and twirled me back to look at him. “Have you seen how you look? It’s almost like you’re a walking magnet for trouble anywhere you go. If you know what’s good for you, before your unnecessary ego blindsights you, you would take my assistance.”
I pouted and glared at him. “Now look here. I don’t need you to interfere in my life. You helped me out of that mess with Aston and I appreciate that but what you wouldn’t do is impose on my life. Moreover I had the whole situation handled.”
He flinched and looked me over, his eyes looking over me in disbelief. “You had the whole situation handled.” ”Well yes… I mean I didn’t but I could have handled the situation whether you were there or not.” I snapped at him.
He screwed his face and I saw his intense dislike for me return instantly.
“You ungrateful girl!” He spat, the angry brimming in his face.
His energy had erupted to levels of anger I didn’t expect.
“Me? Ungrateful?! Do you know that the reason why Aston attacked me was because of you!” I poked at his chest in anger. “If you had been a jolly good fellow and left me alone, he would never have assumed that I had anything to do with you!” His mouth was slightly agape. “You dare turn this on me!” ”Yes I do!” I screamed like a mad woman. “For him to even tink that I would ever have anything to do with you. Not even in my wildest dreams. In my worst horror movie would anything ever happen between us.”
Aiden just stood there, his fists clenched.
I expected him to hit see and if he did, I was going to use all my might and do the same.
Rather he dragged my waist up to him, forcing to make body contact with him.
“Anyone would be grateful that I did such a thing for them.” He whispered into my ears. “I killed a fellow member of this pack to save you and this is how you thank me?” ”I should have left you there. I don’t save or render help to anyone. But I did that for you in less than twenty four hours and this is how you thank me.” I couldn’t form any words anymore.
All of a sudden I became deaf and dumb.
And then he pushed me away.
“If that’s the way you want it then so be it.” He nodded. “I want you resuming your handmaiden duties immediately. I won’t take any excuses. And if you test me, I will show you a side of me that I’ve only shown my male enemies.”
And with that he stalked off.
I took in a very heavy breath.
I felt uncomfortable.
Perhaps I had been too mean.
I shook my head and turned around to see the entire pack looking at me.
They had watched the entire scene.
Bloody goddess.
