Chapter 786: ENEMIES CLOSER

RUBY’S POV

Aiden was furious.

Furious not just with the girl, but with himself too.

After everything he had done.

He felt the bile at the back of his throat rise as she stalked off.

The ungrateful bitch.

The one time he came in and saved her, looked after someone else, he was insulted for doing so.

For someone who had been in trouble twice in less than twenty four hours, you would think she would be grateful.

What was she proud of anyways.

What did she have.

She was dirt poor, her family was in debt, she was also a late bloomer.

At her age of twenty she hadn’t shifted.

She had nothing to her name and yet she walked around like she owned the pack.

He looked up to see other members of the pack had been watching.

His own men.

He felt his face flush up in shame.

Had they seen everything?

Had they witnessed him spoken to so disrespectfully by her.

He felt his wolf rile up in anger.

If they had witnessed it, then no one would want to talk him seriously.

They would disrespect him after all, she, a fucking nobody had disrespected him.

He could exposer her for what she was.

Expose her for using magic, and she would be executed and yet she was still so proud and upstrung.

What was it about this girl that drove him insane.

She didn’t go crazy after him the way other she wolves did, she didn’t suck up to him, had a mind of her own, spoke back in a way no one would even dare to and yet she was still alive.

Yet, instead of simply making him upset, she did something to him.

Something he didn’t understand or make sense of.

A different kind of emotion all together.

Talked back at him like he was a child.

Aiden felt like the world’s biggest fool.

He clenched his fists and glared back at all of them.

They quickly either returned their gazes elsewhere or they walked off.

He gritted his teeth and stormed off in anger.

Levi, the one he had chosen to be his second in command.

He had an expression written on his face that told Aiden there was something wrong.

Levi finally caught up with.

“What is it now?” Aiden hissed through gritted teeth without breaking stride. “If it’s Gamma Lionel, I have nothing to say to him. He had better keep whatever it is to himself before I try him for all the money he had been stealing from the pack for himself.”

“No it’s not that.” Levi said quietly.

Aiden frowned, turned back to stare at Levi and once again face his front.

“What is it?”

“Well the wolf party that was supposed to take your brother home, they were found dead.” Levi informed.

Aiden paused instantly.

He swore under his breath and twirled around. “When was this?” Levi shrug. “We aren’t so sure, we had expected them in a few days ago, but they didn’t arrive. So we sent out one of the pack scouts and they found them all botched up.

Aidn looked up to the ceiling and sighed heavily.

No no no.

He definitely didn’t need this now.

“Any survivors?” Aiden asked as he set his hand son his waist.

“None. They were all botched up.” Levi explained further.

Aiden sighed again.

Could this day get any worse? ”Any idea who is responsible?” Aiden snapped.

“Well we’re not quite sure yet but we suspect rogue wolves.” Levi explained. “They’ve been around for a while. Causing mayhem for some neigboruring packs. We managed to steer them clear off our lands for a while but they were still on the road. The party didn’t have any jewellery or money on them when we got to them. They took everything.” Aiden wanted to punch the wall.

He hated this backwater pack.

It had absolutely nothing to offer him.

Just problems and problems.

This meant that Bale couldn’t leave the pack for now.

He had to stay here for the meantime.

That was the last thing he needed right now.

Having to keep an eyes on his brother who couldn’t stay put.

“Fine.” Aiden shrugged. “Send extra scouts to secure the territory and get some others to investigate their deaths.”

Levi nodded and Aiden started to walk again.

“Wait there is one more thing.” Levi chipped in.

Aiden wanted to rip out his eyes balls from his face.

“WHAT?!”

Levi began to sweat. “It’s nothing so serious.” I glared at him and he hurriedly opened his mouth. “Well, it’s just that now that Aston’s dead, there might be trouble in the pack.” ”Why?” Aiden asked confused.

“Despite how terribly Aston and his father handled the pack, Some of the wolves were still loyal to him. Killing Aston there might be consequences. They may try to revenge. Not openly, but they will come.” Levi further expressed.

Aiden was exhausted with this godforsaken pack.

He wanted to find the stupid moonstone and get out of this sick place.

Now not only did he have to handle the spolied rotten Jasmine, but he also had to handle his brother and keep him in line along with watching his own back from Lionel coming to revenged his bastard son.

“Aston desrved what he got.” Aiden cleared out.

“And most of the boys in the pack agree.” Levi nodded in agreement. “He has had it coming for a very long time now. He has gotten away with worse becasue of who his father was in the pack. However Lionel is dangerous. Handles a lot of dangerous things.”

Aiden was upset did they all now see him as some sort of child who couldn’t look after himself.

“I can handle lionel if he tries anything.” Aiden said

“I just wanted to warn you if they did come around.” Levi declared.

“Well let them. When they do, I’ll face them.” Was all he said before finally storming off.
