Chapter 715 - Bai Hu Tian
Chapter 715: 715 - Bai Hu Tian
Soon, Qingyi and Bai Hu Lie resumed their journey toward the sect leader’s palace.
"How many representatives from the central region have come to participate in the tournament this time?" Qingyi asked, voicing a question that had been weighing on his mind.
"Two, both from the Celestial Orthodox Martial Alliance. One of them is a white dragon—you’re going to love beating him up!"
Bai Hu Lie grinned, baring his sharp fangs.
"The other is... well... a little bitch with a face just begging to be punched! It’s his smile I want to crush!"
Qingyi merely nodded in silence.
For those youths to be sent here despite coming from the central region, they could only be mediocre talents, dispatched to the northern region as a token of the central region’s goodwill.
Of course, mediocre talent from the central region was still considered an incomparable genius in the north.
In the end, however, both Qingyi and Bai Hu Lie had long surpassed even the incomparable geniuses of that region.
The two were far too powerful, and far too arrogant, to take those worms seriously.
"It’s been quite a while since I’ve beaten a white dragon. I hope this one doesn’t disappoint me," Qingyi remarked, quickening his pace.
Some five minutes later, they finally arrived at the palace of the Myriad Beasts Sect’s leader.
It was, like everything else in this world, a gigantic structure.
Great walls of refined wood rose elegantly into the sky, forming a palace that resembled a fortress, large enough to easily house a hundred thousand people.
The central gate alone was wide enough for Qingyi, in his draconic form, to pass through with room to spare.
Beyond its imposing size, the place possessed a striking beauty, where majestic structures blended seamlessly with what looked like a forest of its own.
Hundreds of pavilions lay scattered among trees with colossal trunks, each many tens of meters in diameter.
The air carried the damp scent of ancient wood, mingled with the faint, wild musk of distant beasts.
"This used to be Father’s hunting ground. After he killed a prized prey here, he decided to make this place the sect’s power base," Bai Hu Lie remarked, noticing Qingyi’s interest in the forest.
"I see." The young dragon nodded as the two began climbing a long stone staircase.
It was a busy day, and the palace would soon be packed to bursting, with more than thirty sects converging upon it.
After climbing over a hundred steps, they reached the wide double gates leading to the main hall.
The hall was already crammed with disciples and guards from all over the sect.
There didn’t seem to be room for anyone else, but the moment Bai Hu Lie appeared, everyone parted to make way.
That enormous tiger, with his terrifying gaze and claws still stained with blood, was certainly far beyond what most of them dared to offend.
"I’ll take you to Father first, brother-in-law. Remember to call him father-in-law! He doesn’t care for all those useless formalities."
Qingyi nodded at the words.
He didn’t care for that sort of formality either, so the arrangement suited him just fine.
Leaving the central hall, the two entered the throne room. There, Qingyi spotted three figures he already knew well: the leader of the Cosmic Dawn Sect, Rou’er, and Rouxi.
The young dragon’s eyes swept over the three for a brief moment before rising to the man casually conversing with them.
Seated upon a throne carved from the bones of a beast from the Star Sovereign’s realm, he was even taller than Bai Hu Lie, his appearance somehow even more inhuman.
Across his back hung a thick piece of black leather that he wore as a cloak, his body clad in powerful bone armor.
Every inch of his fur bore the scars of hundreds of thousands of years of battle.
This was Bai Hu Tian, the leader of the Myriad Beasts Sect.
With seven hundred thousand years of life behind him, he was one of the most powerful beings in that region, having already outlived more than a hundred generations of his own children.
He was, without a doubt, a terrifying figure.
"Oh... Bai Hu Lie, my son! You’ve finally come to see your father, hahaha! And who is this young dragon?" The leader of the Myriad Beasts Sect rose at once, his deep voice reverberating through the hall.
Qingyi, watching him approach, bowed immediately, clasping his fists in respect.
"Long Qingyi, disciple of the Cosmic Dawn Sect, greets his father-in-law!"
Bai Hu Tian paused for a brief moment before bursting into laughter, pulling Qingyi into a firm embrace.
"Good son-in-law, I hope you don’t disappoint me in the tournament. Honor the beast in your heart and make those damned humans feel terror!"
The instant Bai Hu Tian finished speaking, the leader of the Cosmic Dawn Sect cleared his throat with a loud grunt, far louder than necessary.
He was doing it intentionally, just to be heard.
Bai Hu Tian felt a little awkward and scratched his chin.
"Of course, not all humans—only those who deserve humiliation!" He clapped the leader of the Cosmic Dawn Sect on the shoulder, and the man let out a heavy sigh.
It was a good thing Bai Hu Tian was such an easygoing man.
He was like a son.
A simple soul who enjoyed hunting, slaying demons, and engaging in honorable, dignified battles.
He wouldn’t mind drinking with just any mortal, nor eating at the same table as just any mortal, nor even sleeping on the floor beside just any mortal.
He had his pride and his honor, but these were meant to be upheld in battle, not in simple day-to-day interactions.
Because of this, among the many sect leaders in the region, he was the easiest to deal with and, at the same time, the most powerful.
"Ah... come on, let’s have a drink! Today is a happy day, for soon I will announce to the world who will be the groom of my beloved little daughter!"
