Chapter 686: New Kingdoms Part 1
Chapter 686: New Kingdoms Part 1
"Azazel, do you think this looks good? I’m not really sure what I’m doing, but it seems fine to me," I ask Azazel as I use magic to move massive concrete blocks to build her castle. It shouldn’t be that different from assembling a model structure.
"Yes, it’s perfect, Eclipsya... but I don’t know much about construction either," she says, still downcast from what happened a few months ago. We weren’t just humiliated — we had a conflict that I don’t think can be resolved anymore.
We were still all sisters. I understand why she’s a bit sad. The fight was over something trivial, but it destroyed almost all the bonds we had, leaving only anger toward each other.
"Azazel, are you still thinking about that fight?" I ask her, lowering the blocks with precise movements, fitting them into one another as I build the first section of the castle. There’s still a lot left to do, but it’s what we can manage for now.
We’re building our kingdom near where the old elven kingdom used to be, since this place is empty now. There’s no specific owner anymore, and there aren’t many dangers.
"Yeah... I... I think things escalated badly between us... but it was all Lycoris’s fault!! It was already hard enough surviving in that forest without her trying to screw everything up!" Azazel complains, kicking a rock.
’...Kind of a weird reason, but unfortunately, that’s the reality...’ It was Lycoris’s fault. She just needed to talk to us and start reducing the amount she ate a little. Unfortunately, Azazel also messed up a bit by attacking Lycoris.
After the wounds we received, we ended up leaving the Dead Mana Forest. That place became too dangerous for just the two of us alone. Even though we’ve gotten stronger, we’re still lacking a lot.
So that fight completely changed everything between us — our survival, training, friendship, sisterhood, and goals.
"Don’t think too much about those bitches. It’s better this way. Now we can be alone in our own kingdom, our rules, our choices. Way better, don’t you think?" I ask her, spreading my arms as if showing off the castle that will be our new home.
CRACK, CRASH
"..." The castle collapses out of nowhere. The cracking of blocks breaking on the ground comes alongside an explosion of dust covering everything around us. Why didn’t I study architecture and engineering enough to build something so big and complex? Everything just came crumbling down. It makes Azazel let out a little giggle.
"Hihihi, don’t worry, little sister Eclipsya!!! We have time and books so you can build this castle!!! Mommy Grimm gave me this a few days ago! She used magic to deliver it!" Azazel hands me a book with what I need.
"I thought your mother hated me deeply?" I didn’t expect her mother to help us. Well, she’s weird, so maybe this help is because she wants something.
"Yeah, but I think she’s happy because she got a Mommy Pandora all to herself, so she’s been really cheerful and content lately. She also sent me this," Azazel shows me a bottle.
"What is it?" I ask, taking the bottle and reading the label. It says [Pandora’s Tea], and for some reason, there’s a manufacturer label listing Grimm and Mommy Pandora.
’A tea made by Mommy Pandora... but Mommy Pandora doesn’t like tea... and why is the tea kind of whitish and has this weird texture? It looks kind of... viscous. I’ve never seen this liquid before, and it seems to be full of magic.’ How strange. I don’t know, but something about this tea seems suspicious to me.
"Well, let’s drink it some other time after I check if there’s nothing suspicious in here," I hand it back to her, and she puts the stuff away.
"For now, Azazel, let’s focus on what matters! Our kingdom will need to be quite large. We’ll need to attract people to live here, and we’ll have to deal with a lot of matters! Since you can clone yourself, I’ll leave all that administration stuff to you, okay?" I tell her, going back to levitating blocks of material to restart the work that collapsed.
"Okay, sister Eclipsya... but why was the first part of the castle you built a basement? And look, the basement stayed intact! You really put effort into making it," she says, pointing to the walls and the entire internal structure that was left exposed.
"..." I stop what I’m doing and look at her staring at me. My gaze drifts to her ankles and wrists.
"No reason... I just thought it was necessary." When I say that, she gives a little smile, looking at the structure I’m now starting over with a book that will help.
"You’re trying to lock me up, you naughty girl!! But this basement isn’t deep enough! And it’s not secure enough!! You’ll need more than that to lock up your big sister here!" She says this, walking away with a playful wave.
"Tsk." I dismantle the entire underground structure I had made because it’s not good enough, and I look at what the book Grimm sent says.
’Looks like I’ll have to redo the entire foundation that will support the castle... but there’s nothing in here about how to attract people to live in our kingdom... and all I have are stones shaped with magic...’ I’m not sure. I learned many things at the academy, but now I realize the academy never taught how to build a kingdom from scratch.
But then again, what academy would teach how to build a kingdom from scratch? I think I expected too much and received something that was good, but not what I needed right now.
"...Should I kill them?" My thoughts instantly drift from the castle construction to those two damned ones. Since Azazel isn’t here, I mutter, thinking about getting rid of those two who hurt my Azazel.
’But they’re too strong...’ Lycoris became a true monster, far stronger than me, Azazel, and Aqua combined. I wouldn’t be able to beat her, and Aqua is also very strong.
So even though I could fight and defeat Aqua, I still wouldn’t stand a chance against Lycoris anyway.
’It’s better to let it go... there’s nothing I can do... I’d better focus on finishing this castle soon... thinking too much about the fight will only piss me off.’ I’m frustrated that I lost so easily.
One punch from Lycoris practically ended me. I’ll need to get a lot stronger to protect Azazel. I’ll practice far more magic to push my potential to its absolute limit.
