Chapter 1924: Expand your existence to other continents
Cain’s body trembled as the final streams of world energy flooded into him, nourishing his healthy cells, empowering them to replicate and thrive, while erasing damaged cells. The power of the Tribulation Enhancement had fully restored his battered form from the tremendous injuries he had suffered during the fierce battle with the three Archdeities in the void, and especially from the severe backlash of activating Resurrection.
Initially, Cain felt immense exhilaration and relief at his swift recovery. However, his elation quickly turned to confusion and apprehension as he sensed the entire world shudder violently. For a brief, disorienting moment, the mysterious cosmic matrix manifested vividly before him, but before Cain could investigate further, it faded into nothingness. His instincts flared with a powerful warning that whatever had caused this event spelled grave danger.
"Ao," Cain called out urgently.
Almost instantly, the figure of an elderly man materialized within the sacred cultivation ground. Despite countless formations and shields designed to protect this place, nothing could stop the conscious entity of the Everlife Continent from appearing when called.
"My King," Ao responded respectfully, clasping his hands and bowing slightly.
"What just happened?" Cain asked immediately, his voice sharp and concerned.
"My connection to the broader world remains somewhat limited, but I clearly sensed the world’s instinctive reaction. It was responding to an alien presence, something deeply engraved within the universal rules as a threat," Ao explained, his eyes turning cold with seriousness. "This reaction was very similar to the response I’d instinctively have to the forces associated with Dark Sky."
Cain’s eyes narrowed with instant understanding, his fists clenching tightly as a familiar figure immediately appeared in his mind. "Divine Calamity."
There was no doubt in Cain’s mind about the source of this sudden disturbance. Divine Calamity alone was hardly a threat to Cain now, but the presence behind him—the dark forces and the mysterious Lord who commanded them—were far more menacing. Even now, with all his current strength and power, Cain still struggled to comprehend how they managed to send Depravitas across universes into places as fortified as the World Forge.
Cain knew that these dark entities operated beyond normal comprehension, their abilities and power vastly exceeding his current understanding. Nevertheless, he recognized their clear limitations. If these beings openly entered this world, it would provoke the World Will to fiercely react. However, countless ways existed to bypass such restrictions, especially with willing proxies already residing within this universe, such as Horus and the Golden King had been within Aether.
Taking a deep breath to calm his turbulent mind, Cain swiftly activated the [A.I. Chip Module]. During his healing, the module had diligently attempted to track Divine Calamity’s whereabouts. Yet, as Cain thoroughly scanned through the accumulated data, a frustrated frown appeared on his face—nothing had been found. It was as if Divine Calamity had retreated to a hidden sanctuary, unknown to anyone in the entire Everstrife Empyrean World, a secret refuge that had remained undiscovered for countless generations.
Cain sighed deeply, momentarily overwhelmed by the crushing weight of this new revelation. Just when it seemed he might finally have a moment of peace, his enemies began to move again, forcing him back into a state of readiness and vigilance. Yet, rather than despair, Cain’s eyes soon glowed fiercely with burning red flames, renewed determination surging through him as he prepared himself mentally for the battles ahead.
"Ao, can you expand your existence to other continents?" Cain asked suddenly, his mind strategizing swiftly.
Ao was a completely unprecedented lifeform; never before had a continent possessed its own sentient consciousness—at least not to Cain’s knowledge. As such, Ao’s true capabilities remained largely unknown.
Ao considered Cain’s question carefully, his wise eyes thoughtful before finally replying, "My King, I can indeed extend my psychic imprint and consciousness beyond the Everlife Continent. However, two primary conditions must be met first. To expand my influence, I require a constant source of psychic and spiritual power to sustain and nurture me. If such power is present around me or simply flooding the continent, I can harness and absorb it. This method worked during the war when I assimilated the souls and broken psyches of the fallen warriors."
"Finally, some good news," Cain responded with a relieved smile. While such a requirement might be daunting for others, it posed no significant difficulty for Cain, who possessed a realm overflowing with continuously growing psychic energy and spiritual power within the heart of his Alter-Ego.
"I’ll utilize the Scarlet Throne to saturate the land and skies with psychic power for you to absorb," Cain stated confidently.
Ao nodded approvingly, clearly pleased with Cain’s decisive solution. "That should suffice abundantly. However, the second condition will be slightly more challenging. For me to truly fuse with the land, becoming its mind and soul, I must achieve a genuine resonance with those inhabiting it. Within the Everlife Continent, this was relatively easy, especially during the war when everyone embraced the Scarlet Path wholeheartedly. However, other continents will prove far more challenging."
Cain’s expression grew solemn as he listened, acknowledging the complexities involved. Expanding his power to other continents was straightforward, given that his current strength already allowed him to openly dominate places like the Shadowcradle Continent and the Endlesslight Continent. However, influencing and genuinely changing the hearts and minds of their inhabitants was a far more complex endeavor.
It was simple to instill fear and compliance through sheer power, but earning sincere respect, devotion, and unity required something deeper and infinitely more challenging. Cain understood clearly that resorting to brutal suppression or genocide would never achieve genuine trust or lasting harmony.
Countless obstacles stood in his path, yet a fierce determination ignited within him, dispelling any lingering doubts. Cain’s voice resonated with unwavering confidence as he declared firmly, "I believe deeply in our path, Ao. I know that through it, we can evolve beyond our inherent limitations—be it those of our bodies or minds. All I need to do is demonstrate clearly and unequivocally that our path leads to a brighter future, one worth embracing."
Ao observed his king with pride and admiration, a reassuring smile forming on his face. He nodded respectfully, his own determination matching Cain’s.
"Then, my King, I will do all in my power to help you achieve that goal."
