Chapter 1338: Great Shen Empire: We need to get out of here
BANG! BANG! BANG!
Deafening explosions reverberated through the battlefield as Souta exchanged thousands of blows with Thousand Earth and the golem. Through this fierce clash, he confirmed that the speed granted by the Second Form of his Archetype was greater than that of Thousand Earth and the golem, though the difference wasn’t particularly significant.
There were two of them, and Kers Time had rejoined the battle as well. His opponents had the advantage in numbers, and Souta couldn’t simply summon his doppelgangers, as they would be useless against enemies of this caliber. With no other choice, he fought recklessly, deliberately trading blows and wounds with his opponents.
Fortunately, he had the parasite, which granted him a regeneration ability vastly superior to theirs. His opponents knew this, too. That was why Kers Time and Thousand Earth focused primarily on evading his attacks rather than confronting him head-on.
Souta glanced at the two as they charged toward him at incredible speeds. Their Archetypes and skills were powerful, but they still lacked the destructive force necessary to obliterate his entire body. His regeneration had reached such an absurd level that he could recover from even a single drop of blood. As long as the parasite’s power held out, he could maintain this relentless pace for the time being.
Of course, Souta wasn’t deliberately taking their attacks and trading wounds simply because he was confident in his regeneration. He was doing it because he was in a hurry. He needed to end this battle before those peak Fifth Stage monsters emerged from the spatial crack.
Souta leaped backward as the slit on his forehead slowly opened. The armor covering his forehead turned transparent, revealing the third eye beneath it. In the next instant, the eye blazed with dazzling light.
Thousand Earth and Kers Time suddenly froze as they felt something assault their minds.
“W-What?!”
OHMMM!!!
…
Meanwhile, the three members of the council were growing increasingly frustrated. Fear and anger gnawed at them as their situation continued to deteriorate.
A fierce battle was raging above them, and their target was among those fighting. However, they couldn’t afford to join the fray, as vicious monsters kept emerging from the surrounding area. Although they had already slain hundreds of Fourth Stage monsters, the Fifth Stage monsters were far tougher than they had anticipated.
It wasn’t as if they had never fought Fifth Stage monsters before. The problem was that these black, tentacled creatures were considerably tougher and stronger than any monsters they had encountered in the past.
“We can’t stay here!”
“Powerful monsters keep pouring out of that crack! At this rate, a Monster Lord will descend upon this place!”
“What about our target?! Shouldn’t we at least finish him off first?!”
“No! It’s too risky. Remember, our leader is being held back outside!”
The three shouted as they darted across the battlefield. Their movements were agile and precise, allowing them to evade the devastating attacks of the Dark Youngs. They had years of combat experience behind them, and even though this was their first time facing Dark Youngs, they were holding their own remarkably well.
Suddenly, waves of energy swept past their bodies. The three immediately turned their heads and saw another wave of Dark Youngs charging straight toward them.
Their expressions changed as an overwhelming sense of dread washed over them.
Death was closing in.
“We need to get out of here now!!”
“We’ll abandon the mi—”
One of them didn’t even have time to finish his sentence before a black tentacle viciously slammed into his body.
BANG!!
The man was hurled hundreds of meters away. His body tumbled and rolled across the ground before he finally managed to regain his footing. He spat out a mouthful of blood, then looked up in shock, fear filling his eyes.
It can’t be…!
The monster that had struck him was only an Intermediate Fifth Stage Dark Young, yet the force behind its attack was dozens of times greater than what he had expected from a monster of that level.
“Scatter! There’s a mutated one!” he shouted.
The other two immediately turned toward him. Before they could react, a massive shadow loomed over them, and several tentacles came crashing down on their positions.
BANG! BANG! BANG!
Smoke and dust erupted into the air as the ground trembled violently beneath the relentless barrage of tentacles.
Two figures emerged from the swirling haze. Their faces were pale, and blood poured from their wounds as they struggled to steady themselves.
Their expressions grew even grimmer as they assessed the monsters surrounding them.
There were a total of twenty-one Fifth Stage Dark Youngs in the area. Twelve were at the Initial Stage, seven were at the Intermediate Stage, and the remaining two were at the Advanced Stage.
But that wasn’t all.
Among them were two particularly bizarre Intermediate Fifth Stage Dark Youngs. Despite their nominal rank, their strength was comparable to that of Advanced Stage monsters.
The middle-aged man and the woman retreated toward the man who had been hurled away.
“Are you okay?” the woman asked.
The man nodded. “I’m fine.”
“We need to get out of here.” The middle-aged man frowned grimly. He stretched out his hand and glanced at the dark clouds overhead. “This black rain is imposing a powerful debuff on us. We’ll abandon the mission. Find an escape route!”
Suddenly, something assaulted their minds.
The three of them froze for a moment. Even the numerous Dark Youngs surrounding them abruptly halted their movements.
Eeeeeeeennhhhgggg!
An enormous moon appeared in their minds, its colossal form looming above them. None of them understood what they were witnessing, but they could feel the atmosphere changing.
The flow of energy across the battlefield grew erratic, surging wildly as though an invisible force had thrown the natural order into chaos.
“What is that?!”
“An illusion?!”
“I don’t know! All I know is that we need to get out of here!”
Before they could make a move, another terrifying surge of energy erupted.
Their faces paled as they turned toward its source.
A colossal Dark Young stood before them, its massive body glistening with golden patterns. At fifty meters tall, its towering figure loomed over the battlefield like a living calamity.
“An Advanced Stage…?! But its aura is comparable to that of a Peak Ninth Shackle expert! No, it surpasses the Ninth Shackle Realm, yet it’s still weaker than the Tenth Shackle Realm!”
This made no sense. Why were there so many Fifth Stage monsters in this place?!
The enormous Dark Young opened several of its mouths. In the next instant, multiple beams of [Bestrou] shot out in different directions.
BOOM!! BOOM!! BOOM!!
A series of devastating explosions erupted across the battlefield. The sheer force of the blasts shook the entire central region, which stretched for hundreds of kilometers. The destruction was catastrophic, and the shockwaves that swept across the land were nothing short of terrifying.
It felt as though the world itself was coming to an end, especially for the three members of the council.
The central region stretched for several hundred kilometers from north to south, a distance greater than the size of some continents on their planet. Yet here, it was merely a small, remote empire’s territory. And this was only the central region. If one included the distance from the northern border to the southern border, the empire spanned more than a thousand kilometers.
Moreover, the laws and energy of a sub-world were considerably weaker than those of the outside universe. An attack of this magnitude was powerful enough to obliterate planets. If unleashed in the lower dimensions beyond the Mother Universe, the destruction would be even more catastrophic.
The entire land was engulfed in a violent storm of energy.
…
Meanwhile, Kers Time spat out a mouthful of blood as a deep sword wound stretched from his left shoulder all the way down to his stomach.
“Ugh!! What…?!”
Kers Time shifted his gaze, only to discover that Souta had already retreated. Perhaps the Blood Lightning Monster had been caught in the devastating energy blast, but that no longer mattered.
‘The Blood Lightning Monster has disappeared, and I can’t sense Thousand Earth’s energy either. He should still be alive, though. The dissipation of an expert’s energy upon death is easy to recognize. I need to get out of here.’
Kers Time glanced down at the terrible wound that nearly split his body in two.
The injury had been inflicted by Souta’s sword, and it had almost cleaved straight through his entire body. Fortunately, his formidable strength had allowed him to withstand the blow and prevent the blade from cutting all the way through him.
Souta was simply too strong. His sudden increase in power had caught Kers Time completely off guard. He had never expected such a development, much less imagined that Souta would come so close to killing him.
If he had been even a fraction of a second slower in stopping the sword, he might already have been dead.
‘Blood Lightning Monster… He’s far too troublesome. Now I understand why Thousand Earth wanted to kill him so badly. If we allow him to continue growing, he’ll become an even greater threat in the future.’
However, the Blood Lightning Monster wasn’t the only threat they needed to worry about.
A terrifying Advanced Stage Fifth Stage Dark Young had appeared. And soon, those peak Fifth Stage monsters would emerge from the spatial crack as well.
By then, unless someone possessed the strength of a Tenth Shackle expert, escaping this place would be virtually impossible.
