Chapter 423: Chapter 424 : The cursed temple of the fallen god

Chapter 423: Chapter 424 : The cursed temple of the fallen god

Alex continued eating calmly while the others sat quietly around the table.

After swallowing a bite of food, he spoke in a low voice. “Tell me more about this cursed temple.”

Camilla glanced toward Remus.

Remus gave a slow nod, silently signaling her to explain.

Seeing that, Camilla let out a small sigh and placed her hands on the table.

“The truth is… there were actually three members of the Scorpion Clan who arrived on this floor,” she began. “Our companion’s name is Rayan. While Remus and I stayed here to investigate the town, Rayan was the one who went to the temple to gather information.”

James immediately leaned forward and asked anxiously, “What happened to him?”

Camilla did not answer immediately.

Instead, she slowly reached into her coat and pulled out a small glowing orb.

The room dimmed slightly as the orb began to shine.

A faint humming sound filled the air.

Then—

A holographic figure suddenly materialized above the orb.

It was Rayan.

But the moment everyone saw him, their expressions changed.

Rayan looked terrified.

His clothes were torn.

His body was covered in blood.

His breathing was uneven as if he had just escaped something horrible.

“Run!” the projection shouted desperately. “All of you… escape from this floor right now!”

The room fell completely silent.

Rayan’s voice continued trembling through the projection. “We saw something… something unimaginable inside that temple. Those people… those worshippers… they aren’t—”

Suddenly the image began flickering violently.

Static noises burst through the room.

The projection distorted.

Rayan tried to speak again, but his voice became warped and unbearable.

The screen blurred.

Then—

The projection disappeared completely.

The orb dimmed.

Silence filled the room.

Everyone’s expressions turned tense.

Alex was the first to break the silence.

He calmly took another bite of food and said, “Looks like your friend over there found something very interesting.”

He chewed thoughtfully before adding, “Makes me wonder if he’s still alive or not.”

Remus folded his arms and replied in a low voice, “That was the last message we received from him.”

James frowned slightly. “Do you think he’s alive?”

Remus exhaled slowly. “I can’t say for sure… but I won’t rule out the possibility either. Rayan isn’t weak.”

Alex nodded slightly before asking another question. “So what kind of place is this temple?”

Camilla sighed again.

“When the Fallen Angels first started attacking this place,” she explained slowly, “the people living here prayed to their god, Hephaestus, for protection.”

Her voice became heavier.

“But when they realized their prayers weren’t being answered… some of them turned toward the cursed temple that had been abandoned for decades.”

“They thought that if one god wouldn’t answer them… then maybe another would.”

She paused for a moment before continuing.

“But the moment they began praying there… people started disappearing.”

James frowned. “Disappearing?”

Camilla nodded.

“Kidnapped.”

“No one knew who was doing it or why.”

“The blame quickly fell on the worshippers of that cursed temple.”

Her expression darkened.

“They were called worshippers of evil and were cast out of the town.”

“They were forbidden from ever setting foot here again.”

“Many families were forced to leave and survive near the cursed temple.”

Remus clenched his fists slightly.

“I’ve seen them myself,” he said quietly. “Some of them are so desperate that they eat dirt just to survive.”

The table became silent again.

Alex leaned back slightly in his chair.

Then he spoke calmly.

“From everything you’ve told me… it sounds like someone deliberately created a divide between the town and those worshippers.”

Camilla frowned slightly.

“You mean… someone planned all of this?”

Alex smiled faintly.

“Who knows.”

He shrugged casually.

“It was just a hunch.”

Then his voice became slightly more serious.

“But the only way to know the truth is to see it for ourselves.”

He looked around the table.

“If you all want to leave this floor alive… we should go to that temple.”

The room went quiet again.

Everyone slowly swallowed.

They all understood the situation.

If something inside that temple didn’t kill them…

They might starve to death here.

Food was already becoming scarce.

And the townspeople were growing more suspicious of outsiders every day.

In the end—

It had become a matter of survival.

—–

Dinner eventually came to an end.

The table slowly quieted as everyone finished eating.

Alex leaned back slightly in his chair, wiped his mouth with a cloth, and looked around the room.

“Alright, everyone, listen to me carefully,” he said in a calm but firm voice. “If you want to leave this place alive, then follow everything I say.”

He paused for a moment before adding casually, “And if anyone has objections, don’t bother raising your hand. Just raise your ass and leave.”

For a moment, everyone except Kaelith sat there speechless.

They had expected many things from Alex.

But this kind of blunt leadership was… unexpected.

Still, none of them argued.

They all knew one simple truth.

In this terrible situation, the masked man sitting at the table was their only real hope.

After all, they had seen his strength with their own eyes.

One by one, hands slowly began to rise.

James raised his hand.

Then Clara.

Soon Elias and Maera followed.

Even Camilla and Remus raised their hands without hesitation.

Alex nodded with satisfaction.

“Good.”

He leaned forward slightly.

“You people have good survival instincts.”

Then he waved his hand dismissively.

“So the first order is simple.”

“You’ve all eaten.”

“Now go to your rooms and sleep.”

He looked around the table again.

“Because tomorrow we are raiding that temple.”

“And it’s going to be a long day.”

Everyone’s expressions became serious.

Everyone except Kaelith.

Her eyes were sparkling with excitement.

‘An ancient cursed temple…’

‘This is going to be amazing.’

Alex stood up and stretched slightly.

“Good night.”

“Be ready in the morning.”

Then he looked toward Camilla.

“Also, give Kaelith a room.”

“She doesn’t have one yet.”

Before Camilla could answer—

Remus suddenly stepped forward.

“I’ll handle that, Lucifer,” he said quickly. “Don’t worry. I’ll take care of her.”

Alex glanced at him for a moment.

Then shrugged.

“Alright, pervert.”

He pointed toward Kaelith.

“You heard him. Follow that guy.”

Then he added with a smirk, “Just make sure he doesn’t try to make you sleep in his bed.”

Kaelith’s face instantly turned red.

“Shut up!”

She glared at him angrily before turning and following Remus out of the dining hall.

Soon everyone began heading toward their rooms.

The mansion slowly grew quiet.

Alex eventually returned to his own room.

He pushed the door open and walked inside.

Without hesitation, he threw himself onto the bed and stretched comfortably.

Then—

Red particles suddenly appeared in the air.

Victoria reformed in her human form beside the bed.

She crossed her arms and looked down at him.

“So… where am I supposed to sleep?”

Alex didn’t even look at her.

“On the floor, obviously.”

He pointed lazily toward the ground.

“The master sleeps in the bed.”

“The servant sleeps on the floor.”

“Don’t you know basic rules?”

Victoria’s teeth clenched.

“No way.”

“I’m not sleeping on the floor.”

Alex finally turned his head toward her.

“Then come here and sleep with me.”

Victoria’s face instantly turned bright red.

“You—!”

Alex burst out laughing.

“Relax.”

“Don’t get your panties in a bunch.”

“I was kidding.”

He reached beside the bed and tossed a mattress and blanket onto the floor.

“There.”

“Your royal sleeping quarters.”

Victoria looked at the mattress with disgust.

“I will no—”

Before she could finish—

The S-shaped mark on her forehead suddenly began to glow.

A sharp burning pain shot through her head.

Victoria flinched immediately.

“I will! I will sleep on the floor!”

Alex nodded with satisfaction.

“Good girl.”

He folded his hands behind his head.

“You just need a bit of discipline.”

“So as your master, it’s my responsibility to discipline you.”

He smirked slightly.

“Don’t take it to heart.”

“I’m a very generous person.”

Then he closed his eyes.

“Now go to sleep.”

“You’ll have a lot of work tomorrow.”

Victoria reluctantly lay down on the mattress.

She pulled the blanket over herself and muttered quietly,

“I have never been this humiliated in my entire life.”

“I swear… if I could kill him in his sleep, I would.”

From the bed, Alex spoke calmly without opening his eyes.

“I heard that.”

Victoria’s eye twitched.

But she didn’t say anything.

The room slowly fell silent.

Soon both of them drifted off to sleep.

And before long—

Morning arrived.
