The battlefield was randomly chosen for every battle. For Liyun and Maria, it was a vast field of scorched earth surrounded by mountains whose peaks pierced the clouds.

It seemed to be a place that had seen destruction, as there lay fields of ashes and ruins of what once looked to be a city. It was an appropriate location for the upcoming battle, as the winner would only appear after there was no life left on one side.

Maria, who had the lowest number of family members among the hundred participants due to her repeated wars, still had more than one hundred million family members.

But neither of the two cared about the loss of lives that would take place. Upon getting their memories back, those family members had just become expendable resources for the participants.

Across the scorched earth, with a field of ash being the separating line, stood two large banners. One represented Liyun and his family members who had appeared, while the other was Maria and her family members.

Those family members were actual beings to them, so many looked excited, some looked nervous, and some trembled in fear. There were myriads of expressions across the two sides.

From the look of things, Liyun’s side was clearly the stronger of the two, as he had three billion family members with two Level 150 beings, while the other side not only lacked that number but also only had one Level 150 member in Maria.

Boom!

A blast rang, announcing the start of the battle.

The ground rumbled in response, while the sky was torn open as the two sides rushed toward each other.

Hundreds of millions of people clashed together. Both sides activated the abilities they had earned over the long period of their existence.

Swords clashed against spears. Techniques exploded across the battlefield. Fireballs several dozen metres wide descended from the heavens, while enormous earth pillars erupted beneath advancing soldiers.

Three beings floated above in the sky. Liyun, his son, and Maria.

These were the only three Level 150 beings in the entire battlefield.

Liyun knew Maria and also respected her, but in that moment, she was an enemy that he wouldn’t stop at any cost to kill.

Maria also didn’t expect any civility from the other side due to her identity. She knew she couldn’t use what happened in the competition to catch a score outside it.

She had seen the horrors of Aakesh. He had rarely made any moves in the Sacred Dimension, but in the Primal Dimension, there had been a couple of instances.

In fact, she had met Aakesh due to one such instance.

"Thunder Prison!"

Maria made the first move, and following that, countless lightning chains emerged from the void and grabbed her two opponents, trying to restrict them to that spot.

"Spatial Rift!"

Liyun remained calm and also made his move. The next moment, the space around him was torn apart, and along with it, the lightning chains.

At the same time, a card appeared in his son’s hands, and he activated it.

A gigantic Qilin made of fire appeared in the sky and roared at Maria. It then charged at her.

"Golden Palm!"

Maria’s cold voice rang once again as a projection of a palm appeared in the sky and slapped the charging beast.

Liyun’s son coughed up blood as he bore the brunt of the attack. He and Liyun were horrified by Maria’s strength.

"Mountain Descends to Earth!"

Maria didn’t give any time and activated another skill.

Following her words, a spiritual storm appeared in the sky as energy gathered to form a mountain.

Maria raised her right hand in the sky and pushed it toward her opponents.

A pressure the two had never felt before appeared as the mountain was thrown at them.

Liyun knew he couldn’t face that attack head-on, so he took out a card and activated a defensive skill.

His son activated his ultimate skill after receiving a mental message from Liyun. During one of his adventures, Liyun had gained a bloodline card that could switch someone’s bloodline with a Fire Qilin, giving them a transformation ability.

He raised both his arms. The remaining clouds above the valley began burning from heat. Red fire gathered across the void, forming an enormous vortex. Thousands of fireballs flew out from it.

His body then began expanding.

Ten metres.

One hundred metres.

One thousand metres.

In no time, he had grown to cover the entire battlefield. In place of him a fire qilin had appeared. Its scales were made of fire, and every movement it made caused the entire space around the vast battlefield to tremble.

Following that, a horrifying pressure emerged from its body. Qilin was a creature that was born with a mythical bloodline.

Even though the competition limit was Level 150, its body seemed to create a pressure like that of someone at Level 200 or above.

Even Maria was horrified by that transformation. She wasn’t alone because the other 98 participants were also seeing the battle between Maria and Liyun.

Not many had the confidence to face such an attack.

The son didn’t waste any time and opened its mouth. A red beam emerged. It crossed the distance between it and Maria in an instant and struck her.

Following the attack, its scales began to wither, and the heat emanating from the creature started falling at a rapid rate.

But compared to Maria, it was nothing. Her entire upper body had melted into nothingness, bringing an end to her life.

Maria’s death didn’t mean the end of the war, since one side needed to be completely exterminated for one side to win.

The transformation ended, and Liyun’s son had immediately grown old, on the verge of lifespan exhaustion.

Liyun didn’t care since the attack had done its job. He then gave orders to his family members to charge at the enemy in full force to end it early.

Without Maria, her family didn’t last long and were routed by Liyun’s forces, bringing an end to the first battle of the first round.
