Chapter 1048: Blocking Is Dying.
Chapter 1048: Blocking Is Dying.
In comparison, Loki could only last 8.2 seconds at the current rate of consumption. So, anyhow it was looked at, he would surely die before the dragon.
After racking his brain about what to do, he decided to give up defending.
He thought, ’Anyhow, my defense isn’t actually doing anything to block the attack.’
Since his defense was useless, he decided to stop wasting energy defending. This reduced his energy consumption from 4.52% to 2.26%.
So his 37% of energy could now last 16.4 seconds. With this, he would outlive the dragon just by doing nothing.
Seeing this, the dragon gritted its teeth and said with determination, "Not if I can help it."
The dragon wasn’t going to accept defeat, so it used its second head to activate the second set of Metacs again. This time, it activated them for attacks and turned them against Loki.
It used the same Devouring Ability as the template for its attack, so all of the energy it was consuming for the attack was restored to it from Loki’s lifespan. Because of this, there was no change in its energy consumption and how long it could last based on its energy capacity.
However, the activation of the second set of Metacs also doubled its production of Entropy, which brought back how long it could last to 7.7 seconds. As for whether this would be worth it, it would depend on how much longer Loki could last.
Now that he was being attacked from two sources, Loki’s energy consumption immediately returned to 4.52%. So even though he wasn’t attacking or defending anymore, he could only last 8.2 seconds.
As for his consumption of Entropy, it was 4.44% from the dragon’s dual attacks. Since he had 86% Entropy, he would be able to continue to withstand the double attacks for 19.55 seconds.
When he made these calculations, he sighed in relief and thought, ’It seems I will still be the final winner.’
The dragon also came to this conclusion, which made it frustrated. With a snarl of frustration, it deactivated all of its Metacs. It also deactivated its second head and stopped burning its lifespan.
As it did these things, it looked at Loki with a weird gaze and said, "Is your origin talent frictionless internal circulation of energy? Or is it 100% conversion efficiency of energy to power? Or is it both?"
Loki replied, saying, "If you attack me with all of your might, using your second head, and burning your lifespan to increase your power, you will consume 4.52% of Energy and 8.88% of Entropy per second."
"I, on the other hand, will only consume 4.52% of Energy and 4.44% of Entropy per second even if I did nothing to defend. So if we start with 100% Energy and 100% Entropy, you will surely run out of Entropy first and lose. I’m guessing that’s why you stopped attacking."
The dragon said, "The problem is that overclocking this crippled body is too inefficient. I have to pay twice as much Energy and Entropy to increase my power by 10%, and I am always on the losing end."
"I just have to find a way to make this crippled body more efficient or squeeze out another kind of power from it. In the meantime, you can’t harm me either, so I don’t have anything to worry about."
After it said this, he smiled at Loki and said, "If I am to defeat you, I have to get used to this body and learn to use it better. If you want to defeat me, you have to overcome the gap in our skills. Do you think that’s possible?"
Loki didn’t even think about the question before he said, "I can’t."
"I doubt I can make up for our difference in skill even if I had an infinite amount of time. Your state of existence has always been higher than mine, and it is not something I can comprehend no matter how hard I try."
Shaking his head, he said, "So I won’t try to fight you with a tool I am bad at. Instead, I will continue to attack you with what I am good at."
Loki was still speaking as he activated all of his Metacs again and used them to enhance the Devouring Ability. Then he directed the power at the dragon.
Unlike him, the dragon couldn’t sit back and let him drain his lifespan. If it did, Loki wouldn’t consume any energy while simultaneously draining him of his own energy.
This forced the dragon to defend itself. It activated all of the Metacs to protect itself from the black devouring forcefield. So Loki was now consuming 2.26% of his lifespan for nothing.
The dragon, in turn, was also consuming 2.26% of its lifespan to block the black force field. If this were all, the dragon would be poised to win. After all, it had 53% energy left while Loki only had 37% energy.
If nothing were to change, Loki would run out of energy in 16.4 seconds and die before it. Unfortunately, something changed that turned the tide of battle.
Because the dragon was activating Metacs, it was producing 2.22% of Entropy per second. On the other hand, Loki wasn’t producing any Entropy. With its Entropy at 34%, it could last 15.32 seconds under the strain of this level of consumption.
As if this wasn’t bad enough, there was the fact that it was also blocking Loki’s attacks. Entropy is created from friction, resistance, and the transformation of energy. So blocking an attack also produces Entropy.
Even if blocking the attack is successful, the act of blocking it will create an equal and opposite reaction in the target, producing Entropy. This equal and opposite reaction in the target was why Loki’s capacity for Entropy was decreasing every time he was hit even though he wasn’t producing any Entropy himself.
