Chapter 1049: Far From Over.
Now the tables have turned. It was now the dragon’s turn to deal with the problem that Loki had been dealing with for so long.
By blocking Loki’s attacks, it was taking on another 2.22% Entropy per second, doubling the consumption of his capacity for Entropy and cutting how long he had to live from 15.32 seconds to 7.66 seconds.
7.66 seconds was far shorter than 16.4 seconds, so it was safe to say that the dragon would die before Loki. If it could dodge Loki’s attacks entirely, it wouldn’t need to take on more Entropy by blocking Loki’s attacks.
He would definitely be able to avoid Loki’s attacks if his defense was a little bit stronger than Loki’s attacks. Unfortunately for him, he and Loki had the same power output, so their power just about cancels each other out, preventing him from taking damage from Loki’s attacks. Still, it wasn’t strong enough to avoid the attack completely and not take Entropy from it.
And he couldn’t run away from Loki either. The battlefield was too small for him to avoid Loki’s attacks by escaping, and the black force field of the Devouring Ability couldn’t be dodged. It could only be blocked head-on.
As the dragon thought about these things, it said, "I see what you’ve done. You’ve turned this into a battle of endurance that I will surely lose."
"I guess this is why the spark of power chose you. You don’t produce Entropy when you use the spark of power or any form of power. If you were to get infinite energy, you would be unstoppable. It seems you really do have the potential for greatness."
It even sighed and said, "This is also the point of this challenge. It is a test of potential."
"I was supposed to prove that with equal power, I would be a better option than you. Unfortunately for me, even though my origin talent is stronger than yours and I am more skillful, I still failed."
Then his face became bitter, and his voice became angry as he said, "I blame this crippled existence of yours. It is too weak."
With disdain, he pointed at this body and said, "This body is trash. It is simply incapable of being used as a conduit of great power."
He continued ranting and complaining about Loki’s body and how unfair it was that he had to fight with something like this. While he was doing so, time slowly ticked by.
After a while, Loki got tired of listening to his complaints. He had a lot of things he wanted to know, so he began asking questions.
"How did you find me? What is an origin talent?"
"What is the spark of power exactly? Where did it come from?"
"What are the abilities of the spark of power? Why didn’t you take the spark of power directly instead of challenging me?"
He asked a lot of questions, but the dragon ignored him and continued to complain. It wasn’t until he asked about the reason for the challenge that the dragon spoke.
It looked at him with disdain and said, "Ignorant ant. If I could take it myself, why would I engage in this challenge with you?"
"I simply don’t have the power to take the spark of power directly. Nearly every entity in all of reality can’t take the spark of power by force."
"The spark of power gets to choose its wielder, not the other way around. Only a few entities can force it to bend to their will."
As it spoke, 7 seconds had passed since Loki began attacking it. So the dragon’s capacity for Entropy had slowly reached its limit.
Soon, the dragon’s body became faint like a phantom. Its body became translucent and thin as if it were a piece of see-through fabric about to be blown away by the wind.
When Loki saw this, he knew that the dragon was dying. This made him sigh in relief.
But the dragon didn’t seem to mind that it was dying. It continued to speak, saying, "You have won this round, but this is not over. Fortunately, I didn’t underestimate you too much and made this a three-round challenge, so I will definitely be back for a second round."
Then it sneered and said, "I just hope you have a stronger body by then. When I return, I will surely kill you."
Those were its last words before it collapsed. And just like the dragon had intended, Loki’s heart fell when he heard those words.
Normally, he couldn’t dismiss anything the dragon said. And even though he had just defeated the dragon, he couldn’t disregard the threat when the dragon made a promise to come back and kill him. Especially since the last time the dragon made such a promise, it fulfilled it.
The dragon or the cyclops behind it had once said, "This is not over. I will find you."
That promise had been fulfilled now, and even though the cyclops didn’t seem to be able to take the spark of power, it could still kill him by destroying his body and the Divine Spark, so his heart became heavy thinking about what to do.
He was still thinking while the space within the spark of power returned to its normal state of being a mental space for his mind. The battlefield disappeared, the sky left, the ground receded, and everything became completely dark. The only things in this darkness were 270 pieces of light still being simulated and various packets of information.
He was no stranger to the 270 units of commonality and their Supreme Metacs. He also believed that they should be the only things in this darkness. So he was surprised when he noticed something else in the spark of power.
When he looked around the spark of power, he saw a piece of incomprehensible material in the darkness. He saw it, but when he tried to focus on this material, his vision swooned and blurred.
