Chapter 1050: Incomprehensible Material.
Chapter 1050: Incomprehensible Material.
This material was mainly blue with white specks of light sprinkled all over it like spots. This part of the appearance of the material, its color, was comprehensible to him. What he didn’t understand about it was its shape.
As he looked at the material, he failed to look at it in its entirety. He could only look at a small corner of it at any time, and that corner was always changing.
Anytime his vision landed on the material, the material would balloon in size, filling his entire vision with blue and white specks of light. So he always became too small to see its whole size and shape.
As far as he could tell, this material was a crystal with multiple faces. Unfortunately, he couldn’t tell what kind of crystal it was because he always noticed that he was also within the material whenever he looked at it.
He should have been outside of the crystal looking up at it, but somehow he was inside of it looking outward. Not only that, but there were also other people inside the crystal looking out of it.
He would have been scared if he didn’t recognize the other people in the crystal. As it turned out, all of them were him. Most of them were standing on the crystal like him, looking out of it, but some of them were looking at him and the other people who looked like him.
After taking time to examine the other people, he realized that they were versions of himself at various points in time ever since he started looking at the crystal. So not only was he looking at the crystal, but he was also inside the crystal, and he was looking at other versions of himself.
This understanding seemed to break his mind and cause him to black out. His vision swooned before it went completely black.
When he came to, he was outside of the material. Unfortunately, he couldn’t remember most of what he saw. No matter how he tried to recall, he could only remember that the material was constantly changing and had different versions at different points in time.
But even this much caused his mind to ache. The ache also intensified whenever he tried to visualize what he had seen.
The ache got so bad that he nearly became unconscious again, so he had to stop thinking about what he saw. This phenomenon shocked him far more than the material’s weird state.
He shook his head and said, "That’s not an ordinary material by any definition of it. It is not even a normal substance. It is an exotic substance in a state of existence that I can’t understand. This would explain why I can’t recall what I saw even though I have perfect memory."
"But it shouldn’t be dangerous. In fact, it should be a good thing because I feel a yearning to consume it."
Actually, the spark of power was already consuming the material. When he came to, he realized that the material had shrunk in size while the spark of power had grown in size. So it was clear to him that the material was being consumed to strengthen the spark of power.
Looking outside, he saw that the two-headed cyclops had gone silent. The cyclops’s eyes had closed, and it appeared to be dormant.
Upon closer inspection, he noticed that the brightness of the stars in the cyclops’s body had dimmed. He also noticed that the cracks all over the cyclops’ body hadn’t healed.
Finally, he noticed the small river of blue and white starlight coming from the cyclops’ body was still there. The river of starlight was the same color as the incomprehensible material.
Right now, the starlight was trying to disconnect from the spark of power, but the white crystal ball was holding on tightly to it, refusing to let it go. This sight reminded him of what the cyclops had said before they fought.
The cyclops said, "I, Astra of stars, have come to prove myself for the spark of power. I am willing to sacrifice all of my power and existence to prove that I am worthy. Take my origin and see that it is worthy."
After remembering this, he nodded in understanding and said, "So this should be the origin that Astra sacrificed to prove himself. Therefore, it is my reward for winning the challenge."
The fact that he had received a reward for the ordeal he just went through was a good thing that improved his mood. But his mood was still heavy because Astra of Stars didn’t leave.
The two-headed cyclops was still there, lying in wait like a guillotine that could drop on his neck at any time. There was also the fact that he was still in the process of breaking through, and he was running out of time to do so.
"The good news is that I’ve regained control of my body and can resume the breakthrough. The bad news is that if I break through, Astra will have access to a stronger existence that he can use better than me when he comes for the second round."
"Another piece of good news is that I gained a reward that I can use for myself. The corresponding bad news is that Astra now knows what I am capable of and knows about my ability to not take on Entropy when I use Metacs, so he will surely make preparations for them in the next round."
There was another piece of good news, and that was that he possessed an origin talent, whatever it was, and that origin talent allowed him to use Metacs without the backlash of Entropy. This is something he just discovered, and he should be proud of it.
He was actually proud of this talent, and he didn’t think it was as weak as Astra made it out to be. But he felt pressure from Astra that made it difficult for him to dwell on this.
