THE GOD EATER

Chapter 1247: Do Your Worst.

Chapter 1247: Do Your Worst.

"I could go on and on, giving you one reason or another, but I won’t waste my time doing that. All you need to know is that if we kill him, you can get everything he owns."

"Think about it," she said, her voice dripping with enticement.

"Think about his Divine Spark. Then think about his Cosmic Dao. Finally, think about controlling the Olympic Court. These are all the things you stand to gain if you help me kill him."

Many of them, like Sword Maestro and Tepid Scholar, hated Ragnarok, and they were willing to do anything to kill him if they had the chance to. They didn’t her to convince them to work together on this project at all.

But some of them like her, who didn’t lose divine beings to Ragnarok, were hesitant to jump to battle. They needed a lot of convincing and only agreed to work with her to kill Ragnarok if she had a good plan and if Ragnarok would actually antagonize their attempts to expand their Domains.

If Ragnarok had done nothing when they began establishing Domains on every super world they could find, Heavenly Eye’s plan would have fallen through, as Ragnarok would have shown that he wasn’t their enemy.

But Ragnarok put himself in the position of being the enemy of every Dao Lord. Heavenly Eye also swore that Ragnarok only had 37 total divinity and was weak. Plus, she had a good plan to weaken him further, so they decided to gang up on him.

Unfortunately, all of that effort and preparation led to this moment. It was a moment she would have refused to believe, even if someone had told her it would happen before the fight.

"How is he this strong?" she asked in confusion.

"And this is supposed to be his weakened state. How strong would he be if we hadn’t weakened him beforehand?"

"This power is completely unreasonable. I’m sure that even Heavenly Eye was fooled," she said, chuckling with a hint of madness in her eyes and desperation in her voice.

To be fair, she didn’t decide to give up because she was lazy. She chose to give up because she didn’t think there was hope, and because even if there was, there was very little she could do to help achieve it.

Her Daos relied on her Divine Spirit to affect her target. Be it the Lust Dao or the Emotion Dao, she needed the power of her Divine Spirit to connect with the target. But she is in the middle of another Divine Ability that strips away and devours everything within it.

Because of the black force field around her, any Divine Ability that didn’t enhance her directly and needed to leave her body to affect the enemy would be devoured before it could reach the enemy.

So she couldn’t use her Divine Abilities within the black sphere. But she had no physical Divine Ability, and her body was weak. This was why she gave up.

This inability to use long-range attacks was also why every Dao Lord who rushed over to attack Loki did so with their fists and physical attacks.

They had to attack him with close-range physical attacks if they were going to harm him at all. Fortunately, Loki’s body was weak to physical attacks, so they were having great success with their attacks.

As for Loki, despite being trampled and beaten, he had a smirk of mockery tugging at his lips. His voice was also full of mockery as he said, "Is that the best you can do?"

"Come on now. You need to do better than that if you want to kill me," he said, encouraging them.

But his tone was anything but encouraging. If anything, his words infuriated them, which spurred them into hitting him harder. So one way or another, he succeeded in encouraging them.

He lay there like a useless pile of flour dough and let them beat him. This wasn’t because he was being generous, and he was a generous person, but because he had no choice in the matter.

All of the enhancement of the 4-D prototype had to go into his Divine Spirit to activate the Devouring Ability, leaving the rest of his existence, like his Divine Perception and Divine Defense, too weak to keep up with physical attacks and defend against them.

Of course, he could stop enhancing his Divine Spirit and put the 975 units of divinity into his Divine Speed to dodge their attacks. But if he did that, the black force field would weaken.

Once the Devouring Ability weakens, not only would it be unable to penetrate their defense and harm them, but the force field also won’t be able to hold them down.

Even with a split second of weakness, they would be able to perceive the opportunity and use it to escape. Martial Will, whose physical prowess is unparalleled, would definitely have escaped.

Then there was Harem King, at the edge of the black sphere. She looked like she had given up, but he was sure that if he dared to give her a slight opportunity, she would slip away.

His death was certain, so all he wanted to do now was to take as many people as he could down with him. So he made up his mind not to release the hold of the Devouring Ability at all.

"Hit me," he said, cheering them on. "Do your worst, or you’ll regret it even in death."

Meanwhile, outside the black sphere, the Dao Lords were communicating within the divine constellation. All of them were condemning Heavenly Eye.

But Heavenly Eye ignored them. She didn’t bother to argue with them because they were going to die soon, so they were not worth wasting time on.

The other reason she didn’t bother with them was that she had more important matters to deal with. To be fair, any matter was more important than arguing with dead men walking. But this issue was so important it could determine whether she, too, would become one of the Dao Lords who would die soon.
