“So it is basically the same way world guardians are created and how Rank 4 cultivators become Rank 5 cultivators,” Loki said, understanding.

Nodding in agreement, she said, “Yes. Actually, Divine Palace cultivators were the first world guardians. They were the ones who got that name before we used it to describe the world guardians of nowadays.”

“And like world guardians today, Divine Palace cultivators defended a world. That’s if they became world guardians through the help of the world.”

“In those days, to become a Divine Palace cultivator, Nascent Soul cultivators used their awakened Mind Palace to comprehend the laws of the world. Once they reach a level of understanding of the world that impresses the Will of the world, the world will give them some of its power and help them advance into world guardians.”

“But this can only happen if the world is impressed with their understanding and has enough resources to help them advance. If their understanding is lacking or the world lacks resources, they could be stuck.”

“Back then, to draw the attention of the Will of the world, ancient cultivators created prestigious lists ranking various cultivators. Cultivators competed to rank high on the list.”

“In general, the more prestigious the list, the higher the chance of being picked by the Will of the world was by ranking at the top of the list. And the more the top ranker on a list was picked to become world guardians, the more prestigious the list became.”

“This difference in how they advanced created two sets of Divine Palace cultivators. They are the world guardians and the world killers. Both sides didn’t like each other in most cases.”

But then she snorted and said, “It was mostly the world guardians who hated the world killers. After all, world killers advanced only when the heart of a world shattered into fragments.”

“But to be fair, world killers also liked killing world guardians. They killed world guardians to absorb their world power and become stronger.”
