Chapter 1308: If Black Chain Can Do It.
Chapter 1308: If Black Chain Can Do It.
"Do you hear me? You’re doomed," White Chain said, shouting at Loki.
"What will I do?" Loki asked himself.
He was about to reply, but something changed within him. The spark of power suddenly gained three new Supreme Metacs. The spark of power also brought with it memories of events that hadn’t happened.
As the memories of the future slammed into his mind, he lost interest in arguing further with White Chain.
Instead of answering, he said, "Your days are numbered."
Then he turned to leave.
Behind him, White Chain said, shaking his head in pity, "What an idiot! What a madman."
But he wasn’t willing to let Loki leave just yet. He called out, saying, "So what do you think about our proposal? I’m sure Heavenly Eagle already told you about it."
Loki didn’t reply. He kept walking as if he hadn’t heard anything, leaving White Chain frowning and angry.
"That Ragnarok is too full of himself. His pride will be his downfall. When he dies in a year, I want to be there to see it," White Chain said, his face contorted with rage.
As for Loki, he was busy looking inward for any other changes brought about by the reversal of time and was reviewing memories of that future.
’There aren’t many changes. I look fine, and I feel fine. If not for the three new Supreme Metacs and the 36th cube that has activated, there would be no changes in me.’
’Since I am fine, should I attack Wandering Thief again and see if I can wear Time Traveler down? If Black Chain can do it without being aware of the reversal of time, I should be able to do it.’
Grinning in anticipation, ’The only question is, should I attack Wandering Thief now or wait to attack the three of them together?’
Somewhere in the upper realm, three young men were sitting around a table, chatting. The three looked nothing alike, except that they were young men.
One of them had white hair and white eyes. The other had red hair and red eyes. The last one had grey hair and grey eyes, bordering on being see-through.
The one with red hair and red eyes, War Mongerer, said, "I am sure that Ragnarok should be our fourth brother."
"But you killed the fourth brother," the one with white hair, Wandering Thief, said in disbelief.
The grey-haired young man, Nameless Fool, also said, "The fourth brother was only at Rank 9 when you killed him, and he didn’t have any godheads fused with his Supreme Metac. So there was no way he would have survived with only his Supreme Metac, reincarnated and returned."
"I know," the War Mongerer said. "But I also remember preserving some of his spirit and putting it into a mortal in hopes he would reincarnate."
Shaking his head, Wandering Thief said, "That was over three thousand years ago. His weak spirit would have dissipated a long time ago."
War Mongerer, unwilling to give up, decided to ask, "What if he survived by parasitizing his host and changing hosts from time to time?"
But instead of asking the question, he froze in place. His demeanor was like a mortal seeing a ghost.
"Hello! Is anyone there?" Wandering Thief asked, waving his hand in front of War Mongerer’s face.
Fortunately, the stasis was temporary. War Mongerer recovered in less than a second.
After recovering, he quickly examined his surroundings. He also focused on Wandering Thief, inspecting him from head to toe.
When he was done, he sighed in relief and said, "You’re fine. That’s good."
By now, Wandering Thief had noticed that the situation was serious. His voice was solemn as he said, "What is the problem?"
"I just used the Time Rewind. I used it because you will be attacked soon and will lose three of your godheads and pathways. You nearly died, and we couldn’t figure out why, so I activated the Time Loop Metac to reverse time."
"What?" Wandering Thief asked, shocked.
Then he fired off a barrage of questions, saying, "Who attacked me? Why did they attack me?"
"We don’t know," War Mongerer said, his tone grave. "We don’t know anything."
"It just happened, and you nearly died. The only clue we have is that the projection of your Supreme Metac in Thief Haven was also attacked."
Shaking his head, he said with a heavy heart, "But that’s not the worst part. The worst part was that I almost couldn’t return to the past."
"When I activated the Time Loop Supreme Metac, I intended to return to the temporal anchor I set at the moment I ascended and entered the upper realm. But something didn’t want me to succeed."
"A powerful force held onto time and didn’t want to let go. I had to struggle more than usual to move backward in time. For a while, I didn’t think I would make it to a time when you weren’t dead. That’s how bad the situation was."
The other two’s hearts sank even further when they heard this recollection. They looked at each other, seeing the gravity in each other’s eyes.
"Does that mean there is another Time Lord in the area affected by your reversal of time and was trying to resist it? Or is the Gemini Race finally interfering in the manipulation of time in the Domain?" Nameless Fool asked.
"I don’t know," War Mongerer replied, shaking his head. "I really don’t know."
"It could be anything. Or it could be nothing."
"I may simply be weaker than normal, or rusty from not doing this for a long time. Maybe we have nothing to worry about," he said, trying to be hopeful.
"Either way, we have to be careful from now on. It seems we won’t be able to rely on the Time Pathway too much," Wandering Thief said, sighing in pity.
"I think the situation will improve if you expand your Domain and create new ones," Nameless Fool suggested.
