Chapter 1319: Bad News And More Bad News.

“Or so you say,” Loki interjected, unwilling to bear the infamy of the sneak attacks unjustly.

Wandering Thief gritted his teeth as he said, “That’s what happened.”

He was frustrated, but Loki didn’t care. In fact, he was just getting started and wouldn’t be dissuaded from his plan just because Wandering Thief lacked patience for his antics.

He went on asking more questions. Then he asked even more questions.

When he was done, he said, “I’ve heard enough. I will swear your oath. But on one condition.”

In response, Wandering Thief’s heart hitched as he said, “What condition?”

“When you join my Divine Court, you must swear on your Dao Heart not to compete with me for the position of Mountain Lord.”

Wandering Thief’s heart immediately fell. But he kept his composure and said, “Are you sure?”

Loki immediately said, “Yes, I’m sure about it.”

“What’s not to like about it? If I agree, I get the three talented brothers, one of whom can even reverse time. With you by my side, I will surely become the Domain King.”

Shaking his head, he said, “And don’t think I don’t know what you’re planning.”

“If what you’re saying about being attacked by a curse is true, with your intelligence, you must know that I am close to being the strongest Dao Lord in the Sea of Worlds.”

“So your plan must be to get me to swear the oath in the guise of proving my innocence and become my subordinate. That way, I will have to protect you from whoever is trying to kill you. After all, if I don’t protect you, I won’t be able to enjoy the benefits of having you and your brothers as my subordinates.”

“It is a sneaky plan to saddle me with the responsibility of being your protector, but I don’t mind it. So yes, I am very sure about my decision,” he said, chuckling.

Wandering Thief asked, confused, “What are you talking about?”

But Loki smiled and said, “To quote you, don’t play dumb with me. I may not be a genius like you, but I’m much smarter than that.”

“Anyway, I’m ready to swear the oath at any time. The ball is in your court.”

Wandering Thief no longer hesitated and said to his brothers, “I have bad news and bad news.”

“The first bad news is that Ragnarok is willing to swear that he knows nothing about the attacks. The second one is that he will only do so if we swear not to try to usurp him.”

Nameless Fool was taken aback when he heard the bad news. His voice was full of disappointment as he said, “He didn’t ask for the Power Pack? That is indeed bad news.”

Earlier, when Wandering Thief offered the Power Pack Metacs to Loki, it was a trap meant to catch Loki in his lie. If Loki had agreed immediately, it would mean he remembered the previous timeline and was a Time Lord who had the means to remember whatever he saw, even if they reversed time.

Unfortunately, that trap didn’t work. Loki didn’t ask for the Power Pack either. Instead, he asked for something that should remain valid even if time was reversed.

“Does that mean he doesn’t have immunity to the Time Loop Supreme Metac? Then why did I sense that he would steal the Power Packs from us?” Nameless Fool said in confusion.

Wandering Thief immediately shook his head and said, “You didn’t sense that he would steal the Power Packs from us. You only sensed that the name wouldn’t belong to us if we exposed it to him.”

“It could also be that the information about the Power Packs leaked from Ragnarok to everyone. Then the other Time Lord gets wind of it and remembers it even after we reverse time.”

Hearing this, War Mongerer nodded his head and said, “Actually, it would make more sense if Ragnarok wasn’t the other Time Lord because the power I sensed from the other Time Lord should be far greater than whatever Ragnarok can achieve.”

“Plus, I have sensed the same power before Ragnarok became a Dao Lord. So unless there is a third Time Lord in the Sea of Worlds, Ragnarok shouldn’t be a Time Lord.”

“I see. So Ragnarok might not be the other Time Lord. But about his willingness to swear that he had nothing to do with the attack?” Nameless Fool asked.

“What about when I called his name to the attack and it came to me? How can he not be the attacker if the attack responded to his name?”

In response, War Mongerer said, “Again, the attack might not have responded to that name specifically. It might have come to you because you used your Supreme Metac on it.”

“Look at me, I didn’t call its name. I only touched it with my Divine Spirit, and it came to me. Clearly, the attack will spread to whatever comes into contact with it.”

Shaking his head, he said, “The truth is that we don’t have any conclusive evidence that Ragnarok was behind those attacks. It could be that someone was trying to frame him.”

Nodding his head, Wandering Thief said, “Actually, I wouldn’t be surprised if someone is trying to frame Ragnarok.”

“After all, he is currently the most hated person in the Sea of Worlds, and this wouldn’t be the first time a group of people worked together to target him.”

“It could also be that he is lying and has a way to break oaths like us,” Nameless Fool said, unwilling to give up.

“I think he is most likely behind that attack because his second pathway is the Death Pathway, so an attack like that wouldn’t be beyond him.”

After thinking about this possibility, War Mongerer said, “You could be right.”

“It could be that we got this wrong the whole time. Maybe Ragnarok is the attacker and his secret pathway is the Freedom Pathway, not the Time Pathway.”
