Chapter 990: The Right Tool.

Green Fire looked at them with skepticism as she said, "After all, the chosen sect will have the opportunity to gain a new Supreme Metac. Who would want to give up on it? I doubt any of you is that self-less."

Without thinking, Martial Will replied, saying, "Let’s all give it a shot. Let everyone support someone from their sect. The best one will win. It also has the5added bonus of forcing Black Chains to split his attention and resources to deal with everything."

Tepid Scholar wanted to laugh and say, "I know you’re only going along with this plan because you want to use someone from your sect to replace your lost pathway."

But instead of calling out Martial Will’s motives, he said, "I think that’s a good idea. That way, even if we fail, we will all get something out of it."

Glancing at Sword Maestro, who had been silent so far, Carefree Immortal asked, saying, "Do we go along with the previous method and pick someone weak with poor talent who should be easy to kill even if they escape our restrictions and successfully become Dao Lords?"

Heavenly Eye, snorting in displeasure, said, "And who gets to decide who is weak? Surely it can’t be Tepid Scholar? Look how well his previous pick turned out?"

Without a hint of shake, Tepid Scholar defended himself, saying, "I didn’t pick wrong. When he advanced to rank 9, he had a Minor Dao. By all estimates, his talent was so poor that he shouldn’t have succeeded in becoming a Dao Lord."

"He barely succeeded in creating a Supreme Metac. How was I supposed to know that he was more talented than that and that he was hiding it? He was a scheming, thieving, lying bastard, so it was not my fault."

Then he said to Sword Maestro, "It is nothing personal."

Instead of taking offense, Sword Maestro smiled and said, "No offense taken. In fact, I think it is a compliment that I was able to deceive a bunch of Dao Lords."

Martial Will nodded in agreement and said, "That achievement is why you deserve to become a Dao Lord. If any of the tools we pick can replicate what you did, they too deserve to become one of us."

Heavenly Eyes, rolling her eyes, said, "Anyway, my point is that picking someone weak is unreliable. My second point is that we don’t need to be picky, since we have learned to mark everyone’s souls in the sect after that unfortunate event. So nothing like that should happen again."

But Carefree Immortal was still worried. After all, no one thought that Sword Maestro could become a Dao Lord back then. No one even thought it was possible, so they hadn’t planned to find and kill Sword Maestro in case he succeeded in becoming a Dao Lord.

Now, not only had the bait they prepared broken away from their control and become a Dao Lord, but that bait had also become strong enough to kill him. So how could he not be worried?

If that disciple can break the enslavement of the Enslavement Supreme Metac, what’s to stop him or her from breaking free from my control? How is that a win-win situation?’

He didn’t say any of this, though. Instead, he said, "Great. A win-win situation. It is not what I wanted, but I will make do."

Nodding her head in satisfaction, Green Fire said, "You should do something with that. It is a good idea, after all."

The Dao Lords had varying motives for supporting this plan to target Black Chains, so they continued to discuss the plan and made suggestions to iron out issues.

During this process, one of the three newcomers finally noticed the elephant in the room.

Lord Immobile Mountain saw something out of place in the Blessed Heaven World and couldn’t help but say, "Is that a dragon?"
