Chapter 992: The Gift.
The tone with which he used to ask that question was one of disappointment. So even though he hadn’t responded to the offer, his regard for the offer was clear.
Shaking its head, the phantom dragon said in reply, "I don’t have anything else to offer you. You’re already a rank 9 Dao Initiate, so you don’t need my Supreme Metacs."
"What you need right now is the resources to become a Dao Lord," it said before pointing at the glowing divine crystal.
Then it said, "You already have what you need. Besides, even if you didn’t have a divine crystal, I wouldn’t be able to help you with one because I don’t have it."
Loki’s thoughts began to whirl in his mind when he heard about the Supreme Metacs. Without showing any emotions on his face, he said, "What is this you said about Supreme Metacs? Can I have one if I ask?"
After hearing his question, the phantom dragon frowned and said, "What do you need more Supreme Metacs for?"
"It is none of your business," Loki said in reply. "Just give me what I asked for. It is the least you could do for helping you to regain your freedom."
The frown of the phantom dragon only got deeper when he heard this. Then it said, "Let me think about it."
Smiling like a winner, Loki said, "Take one minute to think about it."
The will of the Blessed Heaven World didn’t say anything after hearing this. It became silent, and a thoughtful expression appeared on its face.
Seeing this, Loki took another look at the new Supreme Metac that had appeared in the sky of the third dimension. He also examined it with the Power Identification Ability again.
He was doing this in preparation to pick one of them as his reward. As for whether the will of the Blessed Heaven World would allow his request to take one of its Supreme Metacs, he was sure that it would agree.
With a smirk, he thought to himself with confidence, ’And if it refuses, I can take them by force. Forget one, I should take everything. They are only Major Daos, but there are plenty of them to make up for the lack in quality.’
After inspecting them again, he realized that, like the stars representing the Supreme Metacs of the Dao Lords, which aren’t real and are only phantoms, the stars representing the nine Supreme Metacs of the Blessed Heaven World are real.
Since they are real, he can just go up to them and take them. As the situation stands, it was looking like that’s what he would do at the end of the day.
While he was making nefarious plans, the will of the Blessed Heaven World finally finished thinking. It said, "I’ve decided. I am not going to give you any of my Supreme Metacs."
Instead of being sad, Loki grinned and said, "That’s too bad."
His reaction confused the phantom dragon, so it cocked its head to the side and said, "That’s a peculiar way to react to bad news. I wonder how you will behave when you hear that you must anchor your Supreme Metac in my world."
Now it was Loki’s turn to be confused. With confusion written all over his face, he asked, "What did you say?"
The phantom dragon replied, saying, "I am saying that you don’t have a choice in this. You must anchor your Supreme Metac and settle your blessed land in my world whether you like it or not?"
With a dark face and eyes sharp enough to cut steel, Loki said, "Why? You have nine Supreme Metacs and another nine from other Dao Lords. Why do you want mine?"
Shaking its head, the phantom dragon said, "I think there is a misunderstanding here. I don’t want your Supreme Metac anchored in my world for your Supreme Metac. I want your Supreme Metac so that you can invest in me and help me to ascend."
"The more people supporting me, the greater my chances of ascension. Someone as talented as you will help to increase my chances even more. So I must have you at all costs."
"After I’ve succeeded in ascending, you can choose to leave me if you want. I won’t stop you then. But for now, you have to support me."
Loki stood there in the air, staring intensely at the phantom dragon. He was looking at it to see if this was some kind of joke. But no matter how he looked, the phantom dragon seemed as serious as a heart attack.
Despite the lack of evidence of a joke or a prank, Loki still laughed. For some reason, the absence of the intent to joke only made the request more amusing to him.
As he laughed and said, "Let me guess. If I refuse, you will force me to do what you want. And if I still remain stubborn, will you kill me?"
The phantom dragon shook its head when it heard this and said, "I didn’t plan to try to kill you. My plan was to imprison you and slowly grind down your will and life with the river of death."
"But maybe you have a point," it said in contemplation. "Maybe I should really try to kill you. Or at least threaten to kill you. With the threat of death hanging over your head, you’ll take my offer seriously."
A voice came from the sky saying, "If he remains stubborn after everything you’ve done to convince him, you will kill him. That way, if you can’t have him, then no one should."
The phantom dragon’s eyes lit up when it heard this. It immediately nodded in satisfaction and said, "That’s a good idea."
Then it said to the voice in the sky, "Thank you, Tepid Scholar. You’ve always been my favorite."
Smiling like a bachelor who had just received a compliment, Tepid Scholar said, "It is my honor. I’m just doing my part in making my home world great."
