The Hero of Hypnosis

Chapter 546: Only one remains.

Chapter 546: Only one remains.

Kai teleported the instant a spear was lunged at him. He reappeared behind two Titans and swung both chained blades in opposite directions. One lost his head. The other had his spine split open before he could turn around.

Kai yanked the chains back into his hands, then a fist the size of a carriage slammed into his side. He skidded across stone, ribs aching. He pushed himself up just as three Titans rushed him together.

He met them head-on.

Fire wrapped around one blade. Lightning coated the other. He spun once, cutting through one Titan’s chest and burning through another’s arm. The third tackled him mid-spin and drove him through a wall.

Kai headbutted him hard, breaking the guy’s nose. He shoved him off with telekinesis and snapped his fingers. The ground beneath that Titan shot upward in jagged stone spikes, impaling him clean through.

A bolt of lightning struck Kai square in the back. His muscles locked for half a second—long enough for a war hammer to smash into his shoulder and drop him to one knee.

"Good hit," Kai muttered.

He grabbed the hammer’s handle before it could retract and pulled the Titan forward. At the same time, he released a blast of compressed air from his palm. The Titan’s head snapped back, and Kai drove a blade through his throat.

Water surged from a large magic circle that formed in the air. Kai swept his arm and sent the current crashing into a cluster of Titans charging from the left. He froze it instantly, trapping them in solid ice.

One of them broke free and punched him across the jaw.

Kai tasted blood. "Alright," he said, wiping his mouth. "That really hurt."

He teleported upward as a massive slab of earth tried to crush him. Midair, he hurled both blades downward. The chains wrapped around two Titans’ necks. He pulled, dragging them together, and kicked one in the chest as they collided.

More came. Six at once.

He ducked a sword, stepped inside a spear thrust, and drove his elbow into a Titan’s throat. He ignited fire point-blank, burning the Titan’s face off. A blade cut across Kai’s thigh from behind. He twisted, backhanded the attacker with telekinesis, and finished him with a lightning-charged stab.

An explosion of wind slammed into Kai from the right, and he was thrown hard enough to crater the ground. Before he could stand, a Titan landed on him and started hammering punches into his face.

Kai caught the fourth punch and squeezed. Bones cracked in his grip. He rolled, reversed positions, and stabbed downward repeatedly until the Titan stopped moving.

He stood up more slowly this time and shook his head. He hadn’t had an intense battle like this in a minute, and it was weird being hurt like this after not being able to truly feel pain for a long while. And by long while, he meant only a few days, since that was when he had fought Titiana.

Breathing heavier now, Kai looked around and saw that there were still hundreds left.

They started coordinating together. One group distracted him from the front while another attacked from above. A telekinetic crush pinned his arms for a split second, just long enough for a blade to stab into his side.

"Motherfucker!" He teleported out of the hold, but not before another Titan kicked him in the ribs mid-materialization. He hit the ground hard, healing his wound and standing back up.

"Okay," he said under his breath. "You’re getting annoying."

He extended both arms. The chains shot outward, wrapping around multiple Titans at once. He yanked them in and spun, using their bodies as weapons to knock others off balance. Fire spread along the chains, then lightning. The Titans caught in the bindings convulsed and dropped.

Another Titan slammed into Kai from behind and locked his arms. Kai tilted his head back and smashed it into the Titan’s face. Then he flooded his own body with lightning, causing the Titan to scream and let go.

Kai turned and punched straight through his chest. "Fucking hell! What is your chest made of? It’s as if I were punching through adimanti-whatever that metal from those X-Comics is called." The guy was dead, so it wasn’t like he could respond anyway.

More started to close in on him, and this fight was starting to annoy him. Kai didn’t like grinding for power; he didn’t like being strong enough. He wanted to be OP. He loved being OP. And he wouldn’t stand to NOT be OP.

"Fine." He raised one hand. "Destruction."

A dark sphere formed in his palm. There was no flash or explosion. He stepped forward and touched the nearest Titan.

He vanished. There was no burn or cut, just...nothing.

The others hesitated, but Kai didn’t. He teleported into the center of them and moved with purpose. Every sweep of his hand erased another Titan.

When they tried to rush him together, he used telekinesis to pull them into his reach. When they attacked from range, he teleported behind them and erased them before they could react.

But they still fought back.

A spear pierced his abdomen. A blade sliced across his back. A hammer shattered his forearm before it healed.

For every two he wiped from existence, one managed to hurt him.

Blood covered him now. His breathing was heavy. But his eyes were steady. Minutes later, only one Titan remained.

The last one charged out of desperation. Kai sidestepped, grabbed him by the throat, and lifted him slightly off the ground.

The Titan tried to speak, but Kai tapped his chest with two fingers.

"Destruction."

Silence.

Kai stood alone, covered in blood that wasn’t all his. He rolled his injured shoulder back into place and exhaled.

"Next time," he muttered, "bring two thousand."

His body started to shimmer out of existence, as if he were an illusion, as if he wasn’t here in the first place.

"After all." His voice came from another angle. "All of you barely could handle a clone."

That’s right. This entire fight was fought by a clone, not the real Kai. He wanted to see how strong the Titans were, and by sending out his clone, he managed to learn just how powerful they were.

This gave him something to work with when comparing them to Aion. He knew his brother would be more powerful, but since he was able to beat over a thousand Titans by himself, he was confident he could beat his brother in his current state.
