Chapter 641: Assassination Plan (2)
Chapter 641: Assassination Plan (2)
"Where are you taking us, Arkash?" Aldrian asked hesitantly.
Whether it was just a hunch or not, he felt Arkash wouldn’t take them to his parents.
Still, he trusted him enough not to press for an answer.
Arkash remained calm and said, "Don’t worry, Your Highness. I’ve come specifically to pick you and Princess Seira up. Please trust me."
He glanced over his shoulder. Aldrian fell silent for a moment, then nodded slightly and replied, "All right, I understand."
Yet unease lingered beneath his composure, hidden deep within.
Seira watched the exchange quietly.
’How careless,’ she muttered with a long sigh.
It was obvious Arkash harbored ill intentions. She was certain of it.
But she deliberately chose to remain silent, curious to see what plan he had in store for her and Aldrian.
The three continued walking until they reached a door.
"His Majesty the King and Her Majesty the Queen are inside. Come in," Arkash said with a faint smile as he opened the door.
The room was dark. Since it was so vast, Aldrian and Seira couldn’t see Gulvar and Melody from where they stood.
"Thank you, Arkash," Aldrian exhaled in relief and stepped inside.
Seira cast Arkash a meaningful glance, then followed.
Arkash did not enter. Instead, he closed the door behind them. A faint, cold smile curved his lips as he whispered, "Hehehe... you’ve walked straight into my trap. Tonight... is the night you die."

"Where are my father and mother?" Aldrian asked, his voice trembling with shock.
The room was cloaked in darkness. Without the faint light filtering through the ventilation slit, he would have seen nothing at all.
Seira let out a quiet sigh and rubbed her temples in frustration.
"You’re so foolish, Aldrian. Arkash has tricked you."
"Tricked me?" Aldrian’s eyes widened, his heart pounding wildly. "H-How is that possible!? He’s the head servant of the palace! There’s no way he would betray us!"
Seira could only shake her head. Refusing the engagement now seemed like the best decision she had ever made.
"I don’t care whether you believe me or not, but the fact is, we’re locked in here."
Her words sent a shock through Aldrian. He rushed to the door and tried to open it—but it wouldn’t budge.
"Impossible... Arkash really has betrayed us!"
He staggered back, clutching his chest as fear and disbelief surged through him.
Earlier, he had sensed something was wrong, but he had ignored it, choosing to trust Arkash. Now, that trust had been shattered.
Rage exploded inside him. He slammed his fists against the door and roared, "Arkash! Let me and Seira out! You’re asking for death! Arkash!"
Bang!
Bang!
He kept pounding on the door, but it held firm. Every strike was futile.
The door was too sturdy. It felt as if something as massive as a wardrobe blocked it from the other side.
"Damn it! I’m such an idiot!" Aldrian ground his teeth, torn between anger and despair.
If only he had trusted his gut earlier, he and Seira wouldn’t be trapped here.
He turned to Seira, biting his lower lip. "I’m sorry, Seira, I—"
She waved him off before he could finish.
"I don’t care about your apology. It’s done. What matters now is finding a way out—fast."
She moved to the far end of the room, scanning for an escape route.
Aldrian felt ashamed, but all he could do was follow her lead.
"What was this place before? Why does it feel so empty?" Seira asked.
"It’s a warehouse. It hasn’t been used for a year—just left abandoned," Aldrian said, inspecting small cracks along the right wall.
"A warehouse, huh? Then there should be a ventilation shaft we can use," Seira muttered, rubbing her chin.
She glanced up and spotted a small air vent. An idea sparked in her mind—but then she remembered there were no stairs. The ceiling was far too high to reach.
As she was lost in thought, the sound of footsteps echoed from outside.
Moments later, the door was kicked open violently, and five men in black cloaks strode in, their demeanor radiating arrogance.
"Hahaha! Caught you all. I never thought Arkash could lure you out so easily."
The man in the middle laughed heartily, and his companions joined in as they stepped closer.
Aldrian’s fear surged, and he instinctively took a few steps back.
"W-Who are you? Aren’t you afraid of dying!?" he stammered.
"Dying?" The man chuckled softly, amusement dancing in his eyes as he stared at Aldrian. "We are assassins, Your Highness. How could we possibly fear death? Besides, no one will come to help for the next hour. During that time, this palace is completely under our control."
Aldrian’s throat tightened, despair gnawing at him.
The royal palace was heavily guarded. No one could seize it so easily—unless someone from within had orchestrated this chaos.
’Who... who did this!?’ he screamed silently in his mind.
If it were only the ministers, this wouldn’t be possible. Powerful as they were, they lacked the means to execute such a flawless plan.
There was only one possibility—a member of the royal family.
’But who? Meliodas? Karakh? Or another prince?’
No matter how hard he thought, no plausible answer came to mind.
The man’s voice cut through the silence once more.
"Enough of this chatter. Now, it’s time to end both of your lives. But don’t worry—the payment we’re getting is enormous. So, say goodbye to this world."
He opened his palm, and a knife materialized out of nowhere.
Just as he lunged forward, Aldrian scrambled to stop him.
"Wait! Don’t kill me!" he begged desperately. "I... I’ll pay you double! Just please, let me and my fiancée go. I beg you!"
He clasped his hands together and bowed his head.
Gone was his dignity as a prince. But he didn’t care at all. As long as he could survive, he was willing to do anything.
The man and his four companions exchanged glances, their expressions shifting from surprise to wide, cruel grins.
"Very well," the man said casually, twirling the knife in his hand. "I’ll grant your request."
Aldrian’s eyes lit up with relief—but before he could speak, the man added coldly:
"But... you must kill your fiancée with your own hands."
He tossed the knife toward Aldrian, watching with calm patience.
Aldrian froze, eyes wide as he stared at the knife on the floor, his mind reeling.
"Kill... Seira?"
