Chapter 642: Killing Seira
Chapter 642: Killing Seira
"Kill... Seira?"
Aldrian never imagined for a moment that the choice would fall to him.
He loved Seira deeply. How could he possibly bring himself to do that?
But if he didn’t, he would die. The thought of dying and being forgotten by everyone sent a chill down his spine—especially since he was supposed to do great things in the future.
Still, he couldn’t bring himself to act. With a pale, panicked face, he stammered, "C-Can you change the terms? I... I just can’t do that to Seira!"
Unfortunately, the man shook his head and refused.
"That’s your only chance. If you don’t want it, fine—but be prepared to leave this world. Besides, the payment I’m getting is substantial. There’s no way I’d turn it down just for the sake of morality," the man replied, his tone playful.
Cold sweat ran down Aldrian’s forehead and neck. He wanted to keep begging, but he knew it was useless.
The suffocating weight of being trapped between love and survival made it hard to breathe.
’What should I do? I want to stay alive, but I can’t bring myself to kill Seira. She’s my white moonlight, the one I’ve been waiting for all these years,’ he whispered, his voice catching.
Then, a whisper slithered into his mind.
"Why hold on to her? It’s clear she doesn’t love you, Aldrian Lyren. Your life is far more important. Kill her, and you’ll be safe."
Aldrian’s eyes widened. Anger flared, and he snapped, ’Shut up! Seira loves me! She just wasn’t ready to get engaged to you!’
"Don’t fool yourself. The truth is, she doesn’t love you." The voice returned, dripping with mockery. "Don’t you remember how she rejected your engagement back then? She even threatened your family afterward and did whatever she pleased. Is that what you call love? I think you’ve lost your mind, Aldrian Lyren."
This time, Aldrian had no words. His eyes went empty as memories of Seira’s firm rejection surfaced.
Back then, he had convinced himself she was just shy and would eventually yield to his efforts.
But was that ever true?
Over the past few days, he had tried everything to make Seira love him.
And what had he gotten in return—only cold stares and hatred?
Was that love at all?
For the first time, doubt gnawed at Aldrian from within.
"Why cling to it, Aldrian Lyren? Kill her, and you’ll live. The throne and wealth that should be yours won’t end up in the hands of your scheming siblings," the voice coaxed.
Aldrian remained silent, his face etched with inner conflict.
Moments later, his expression flattened. He looked back at Seira and said softly, "Don’t worry. I won’t do it. Trust me."
Seira frowned, watching him carefully, then gave a small nod.
Still, she wasn’t completely sure. Something in her gut told her Aldrian might go through with it.
As she paused, unsure whether to step back, Aldrian suddenly lunged at her with incredible speed.
Caught off guard, Seira couldn’t dodge and could only watch in horror as the blade pierced her.
Scrk!
The sharp knife tore through the right side of her abdomen, all the way to her back.
Seira’s eyes widened in shock. The excruciating pain choked the words in her throat.
"Aldrian... you..."
Blood dripped from the corner of her mouth, burning her throat.
Aldrian’s body went rigid. Horror painted his face as he stared at his hand and the knife lodged in Seira’s abdomen.
"W... What did I just do!?"
He cried out, staggering back a few steps.
"I... I just stabbed you! How is that possible!?"
Both his hands shook violently. His mind felt blank, as if the act hadn’t been his own.
Seira’s strength drained rapidly. Her body collapsed to the ground, her breathing shallow and uneven, her vision blurring.
Remorse gnawed at her. If only she hadn’t stubbornly followed Arkash into the trap, none of this would have happened.
If only she had heeded her brother’s warning to be careful, she wouldn’t be lying here now.
’Nolan,’ she whispered hoarsely. ’Forgive... me.’
Her eyes closed, and her breathing grew shallow.
Aldrian stared blankly at Seira’s lifeless body. He had killed her—intentionally.
"Hahaha! I never expected him to do it!"
The man’s voice shattered the heavy silence surrounding Aldrian.
"Hahaha! I thought he’d play the hero, but I was wrong," the man on his right jeered.
The others joined in, their laughter echoing like a celebration of Aldrian’s foolishness.
Aldrian’s eyes went red as he glared at them, full of murderous intent.
"You..." he growled, his voice rising. "I’ll make sure you all die tonight!"
Whether it was guilt for Seira or the taunts they hurled, Aldrian felt an overwhelming urge to kill them all.
He raised the knife and swung at the man in the center.
Before the blade could land, the man casually slapped it aside.
Aldrian got thrown back, slamming hard into the wall.
The impact made his head spin. He wasn’t very strong, so it knocked him out instantly.
"Hoaam..." the man in the center yawned lazily. "This is too boring. No struggle, completely bland."
He glanced at his comrades and gave an order.
"You guys finish this off. I want a beer and some fun."
After saying that, he turned and walked away. His four companions exchanged glances, then nodded slightly.
They often killed members of noble families across the continent, but they had never slain someone of royal blood.
This was bound to be an extraordinary experience.
"Let me handle that woman. She doesn’t seem completely dead yet," said the man on the right.
His comrades raised no objections and stepped aside.
The man approached Seira, unable to tear his eyes away from her beauty.
He had never seen a woman like her before. A lewd thought crossed his mind.
With a lecherous grin, he reached out toward her chest.
But before his hand was even five centimeters away, a faint black flash appeared.
His hand was ripped off, blood spraying in every direction.
The man froze, confusion and shock etched across his face.
"Huh? What... just happened?"
