Chapter 732: Fighting With the Demon General! (2)
Evalyn landed gracefully on the ground. She swung the sword in her right hand, sending the blood still clinging to the blade scattering through the air.
"So easy," she murmured with a faint smile.
She turned and saw Malgrion standing there—his head severed.
Earlier, Evalyn had seized the moment when Malgrion’s vision was obscured by dust and sand and delivered a fatal strike to his neck.
Now, she was certain the demon could not heal himself as he had before.
But suddenly...
"Hahaha! Interesting... very interesting! I’ve underestimated you. You’re far stronger than I thought!"
That mocking laughter came from the direction of the severed head.
Under Evalyn’s stunned gaze, Malgrion’s body picked up his head and reattached it to his neck.
He twisted it slightly, then settled it back into place.
"Your attack almost killed me. Unfortunately..." The smirk on his face widened. "It was useless!"
Evalyn narrowed her eyes warily. She assumed a fighting stance and leveled her sword at him.
"This damn demon is far stronger than I thought!" she gritted out.
She had believed she’d killed him, but it seemed she had celebrated too soon. Malgrion was far stronger than she’d anticipated.
"Enough of this game! I’m going to kill you right now!"
Boom!
Demonic power erupted from Malgrion’s body. At the same time, his appearance began to change.
His body grew to nearly four meters tall. The two horns on his head lengthened, and his face became even more terrifying.
His muscles swelled as strange black patterns spread across his body.
The transformation startled the demon soldiers. Panic filled their faces as they stared at Malgrion.
"Damn it! The General has entered berserk mode! Run!" a demon soldier screamed in terror.
"Run!" The other soldiers joined the stampede, causing the demon army’s formation to collapse.
The human soldiers were clearly bewildered by their actions. They wanted to give chase but hesitated.
"Don’t just stand there! Run too!"
Just then, Reinard shouted in a thunderous voice.
Although the soldiers were confused, they didn’t dare disobey and immediately fled the battlefield.
"Argh!"
A deafening roar erupted from Malgrion’s mouth. The shockwave was so powerful it knocked everyone nearby off their feet.
His eyes turned bloodshot, and his breathing grew ragged and heavy.
"Miss Evalyn, let’s go! Stay away from him!"
Reinard’s worried voice came from behind Evalyn.
Evalyn remained calm as she turned to face him.
"What’s happening?" she asked.
Reinard stopped beside her, panting heavily.
"Malgrion is a special demon. He can enter a berserk mode and attack anyone, even his own troops," he explained in a grim voice. "In that state, he’s nearly unbeatable. His power increases fivefold!"
His face was filled with fear and despair. Malgrion was known as the second strongest demon, surpassed only by the First Demon General.
He was also cruel and merciless toward everyone, even his own kind.
Once he entered berserk mode, he became far more brutal and savage. There was no way to stop him—only to flee and stay as far away as possible.
Evalyn knitted her brows. She looked at Malgrion, whose body was still undergoing transformation, then gave a slight nod.
"I understand. Leave this to me. Get out of here as fast as you can," she ordered coldly.
Reinard’s eyes widened as he hurriedly grabbed Evalyn’s arm.
"What are you thinking!? You’ll die if you fight him! Let’s go!" he urged.
Evalyn frowned and pulled her arm free from his grip.
"I said go! Quickly!"
Reinard stumbled backward and stared at Evalyn in disbelief.
"Y-You..."
He gritted his teeth, then turned away. "I warned you! Don’t blame me if you get hurt!"
He respected Evalyn because she had managed to defeat him in their previous fight.
However, since Evalyn was so stubborn, Reinard decided not to waste time trying to force her.
Once Reinard was gone, Evalyn took a deep breath. She pulled her left leg back, raised her right arm slightly, and pointed her sword forward.
"This is the perfect chance to test my strength," she whispered.
Whoosh!
The storm surrounding Malgrion’s body vanished, revealing a four-meter-tall figure with a terrifying appearance.
"I will kill you... I will devour you... I will absorb you!"
Malgrion muttered strange words that sent chills down her spine.
Evalyn wasn’t afraid. She bent her knees and whispered, "Hero Technique: Lightning Step!"
Zrrhk!
Her body transformed into lightning, and in the next instant, she appeared right above Malgrion.
The Divine Sword of Luminus emitted a faint golden glow. Evalyn swung it downward toward Malgrion’s head.
"Gotcha!"
Just as the blade was about to strike his face, Malgrion clenched his fist and slammed it into the sword.
Boom!
Fist and blade collided, creating a massive explosion.
Due to the difference in their strength, Evalyn was sent flying upward like a cannonball.
Malgrion bent his massive legs and darted after her.
"Argh!"
He clenched his fist and swung it toward Evalyn’s face. The blow was so powerful that the air around it distorted.
Evalyn opened her eyes and saw the fist only a meter away.
"Lightning Step!"
Zrrrkh!
Her figure vanished just as the fist came within centimeters of her.
She reappeared twelve meters away. Her body floated in the air, and her eyes locked onto Malgrion, fully alert.
’His movements are incredibly fast. It’s as if his massive body doesn’t slow him down at all,’ she muttered.
Logically, the larger a creature’s body, the slower its movements—unless aided by magic.
But Malgrion was clearly not using any magic.
"Could demonic power be the cause?" Evalyn narrowed her eyes.
Her knowledge of demons was limited. After all, in the future, demons had ceased to appear altogether.
They hid like cockroaches that had lost their homes.
As she was lost in thought, Malgrion suddenly clenched his left fist and swung it forward.
A giant fist materialized out of thin air and slammed toward her.
Evalyn quickly raised her sword and parried the attack—but she miscalculated. The impact was so overwhelming that her unprepared body was instantly sent flying hundreds of meters away.
"Argh!"
Malgrion didn’t give her a chance to recover. He darted forward at incredible speed and unleashed a barrage of punches.
Evalyn raised her sword and blocked every single strike.
Their figures vanished, reappeared, and vanished again. Their movements were so fast they couldn’t be followed by the naked eye.
"Die!" Malgrion clasped his hands together and brought them down in a crushing sweep.
Evalyn’s eyes widened. She quickly twisted her body and swung her sword to counter the blow.
Boom!
Their attacks collided, but Evalyn was overpowered and sent plummeting downward at terrifying speed.
Boom!
Her body slammed into the ground, creating a crater nearly a meter deep.
Malgrion grinned. Gathering demonic power, he plunged down like a meteor toward the crater.
Boom!
