Chapter 772: The Demons’ Concerns
Chapter 772: The Demons’ Concerns
The war was progressing rapidly. After conquering the city of Inferos, Evalyn led her army toward another city.
The city, known as Valthoria, served as the last stronghold before the heart of the Demon Empire.
If Valthoria fell, the demon race would be placed in a highly disadvantageous position.
Meanwhile, Rei and Roseline easily conquered the city of Zerundel. The fall of Zerundel marked a new Chapter in human history.
In the past, every attempt to capture Zerundel had ended in failure, as it was renowned as the strongest fortress on the western continent.
But now, they had finally succeeded, and the victory boosted the troops’ morale to unprecedented heights.

"Your Majesty, the human forces have breached Zerundel! They are now advancing toward Tenebris, the central city on the trade route to the Outer Continent! This is extremely dangerous!"
"Your Majesty, the human forces led by that mysterious female warrior have successfully breached the city of Inferos! Demon General Lilithra is likely dead, and tens of thousands of our troops have been captured! Please issue your orders!"
"Your Majesty..."
The worried voices of the demon race’s high-ranking officials echoed throughout the throne room.
Zerathos’s expression remained calm and indifferent. Taking a deep breath, he said, "I understand. For now, go to Yuria and ask her for a solution."
The high-ranking officials were stunned. The human invasion had already caused devastating losses.
If even the Demon Emperor refused to take action personally, what hope did they have?
"But, Your Majesty..." one of them began to protest.
"Don’t you understand what I said?" Zerathos interrupted coldly. "Go. Now."
The officials trembled in fear and hurriedly left the throne room.
Soon, Zerathos was the only one remaining. Silence filled the vast hall.
"Why?" he muttered as he stared at his palm. "Why can’t I access my true power?"
It had been several days since he awakened from his coma. Ever since then, he had felt a mysterious force suppressing him from within.
That force prevented him from unleashing his full strength. It made no sense, and he couldn’t understand why it was happening.
He had ordered all the palace doctors to investigate his condition, but their efforts had yielded no results.
"Could what Yuria said be true? Is all of this really being caused by that mysterious man?"
His eyes widened at the thought.
Yet he couldn’t remember the man she was referring to at all. It was difficult to imagine someone he had never seen, let alone met.
A moment later, he regained his composure and clenched his fists.
"It doesn’t matter. Once I’ve dealt with the ants daring to cause trouble in my territory, I’ll search every corner of this continent for that man and kill him with my own hands," he whispered coldly.
He was the Great Demon Emperor. His destiny was to conquer this continent and make all living creatures bow before him.
...
"Achoo!"
Nolan suddenly sneezed and looked around warily.
’Who’s talking about me? Could it be Evalyn? Or don’t tell me it’s Roseline and Rei?’ he wondered silently.
"Brother Nolan, what’s wrong?" Chloe’s curious voice came from beside him.
Nolan took a deep breath and shook his head.
"It’s nothing. By the way, aren’t you hungry? How about we get something to eat first?" he suggested.
"Um! Let’s go eat!" Chloe raised her right hand enthusiastically.
Nolan chuckled softly and headed toward the nearest tavern.
The two of them were currently in one of the human territories on the western continent.
Contrary to common belief, the western region was not home solely to dragons and demons.
Several human cities were scattered across the region, their existence acknowledged and protected by the dragons.
The city they were in was called Blackrock. It wasn’t particularly large, but it was quite prosperous. Around forty thousand humans lived there, most of whom were intercontinental traders.
"Welcome," a beautiful young woman greeted them. "How many?"
Nolan smiled and replied, "Two."
"Alright. Please follow me."
The young woman led them to the second floor, which was surprisingly crowded.
After they took their seats at a table near the window, the waitress took Nolan’s and Chloe’s orders before walking away.
Chloe looked around with an excited expression.
"Brother Nolan, do human territories always have restaurants this nice?" she asked curiously.
Nolan poured tea from the teapot into the cup beside him and took a sip.
"That’s right. We humans have plenty of great places to eat like this," he answered honestly. "Why? Do you like it?"
"Umm! I really love it here! The atmosphere is so different from the place where I was locked up before!" she said with a sweet smile.
Nolan looked at her innocent expression and felt a warmth spread through his heart.
It had been three days since he rescued Chloe from that dark room.
During that time, he had cured her blindness and made sure she received plenty of nutritious food.
In just three days, her physical condition had recovered by nearly sixty percent. At this rate, Chloe would likely make a full recovery within a month and become a completely healthy demon.
Fifteen minutes later, the food Nolan had ordered finally arrived. The meal consisted of grilled chicken, roasted chicken, stir-fried lamb, stir-fried vegetables, and various other protein-rich dishes.
"Please enjoy your meal," the young woman said politely.
"Thank you," Nolan replied.
After the woman left, Chloe could no longer suppress her hunger and eagerly asked, "Brother Nolan, how do I eat this?"
Nolan smiled and showed her how to hold a chicken drumstick and use the cutlery.
Chloe had been blind for most of her life. According to her, that bald demon had only fed her hard food that was difficult to chew.
Most of the time, it was probably stale bread that was close to going bad.
As Chloe tasted the food, her eyes lit up like stars.
"It’s so delicious!" she exclaimed.
A few nearby customers frowned and shot her displeased glances.
Realizing her mistake, Chloe quickly lowered her head and looked at Nolan with a guilty expression.
"It’s okay. Go ahead and eat. It’s all for you," he said gently, patting her head.
Chloe’s face brightened, and she eagerly continued eating.
To others, the food might have seemed ordinary, but not to her.
Every day, she had been fed nothing but hard, unappetizing food. And she couldn’t complain because she was merely a slave.
But now, she could finally enjoy food this delicious. It felt like a dream come true.
Nolan simply smiled and continued eating alongside her.
Suddenly, a faint conversation drifted over from a nearby table.
"Hey, have you heard?"
"Heard what?"
"The human forces have successfully conquered the cities of Inferos and Zerundel! Now they’re preparing to launch an assault on the demon race’s last outer fortress! Hahaha! This is truly unbelievable!"
