Chapter 1747: Ambush (5)
Chapter 1747: Ambush (5)
Over a hundred SSE-Class weapons were pointed at Klaus and his teammates, ready to unleash terrifying attacks on them.
However, instead of panicking, they each maintained a calm expression. Why? Because they knew Klaus always had a plan, and they trusted him wholeheartedly.
On the other side, Twin Dagger Fiend, who had already seen the broadcast and knew the fate that had befallen his warriors, held a furious expression on his face as he looked back at Klaus.
“So you are the Paragon,” he asked, his tone rather cold.
Klaus smiled and nodded, “Yes, but this is merely one of my bodies. If you kill this one, more will come, and they will be very angry at you. So please don’t kill me”
Klaus laughed, which only made Twin Dagger Fiend more furious…
“You think this is funny? Or do you think killing a few of my men makes you the winner?”
Klaus didn’t answer; rather, he waved his hand, and the Doomsday weapon used to attack his teammates appeared. “I think I have a Doomsday weapon to back my claims, don’t you think?”
The sight of the weapon caused the 30,000 warriors standing behind Twin Dagger Fiend to back away. Seeing this, Twin Dagger Fiend became even more furious.
But then a smile appeared on his face.
“Even though you have it, you cannot use it. It requires either me, Number One, or Number Two to operate, and since they are dead and I have no plans of aiding you, you can only keep it as a trophy.”
He laughed, then he raised his right hand. “Deploy the weapons.”
At his words, the hundreds of weapons were moved, and in no time, Klaus and his teammates were surrounded.
“Now die.” All the weapons were fired at once, causing beams of light to come from all sides of the battlefield. Klaus and his teammates were swallowed by those lights.
They never even tried to evade or raise their defensive shields to block the attacks. They just stood there and allowed the beams to land on them.
Seeing this, everyone thought they had died.
Twin Dagger Fiend smirked and was about to arrogantly declare his win when Klaus spoke…
“A bit ticklish, but pleasant.”
The dust settled, and they were revealed, each standing where they were before the weapons were fired. Only this time, thousands of runes could be seen on their armor and skin.
GASPS
Billions of warriors across the Ancient Battlefield gasped, every last one of them wondering just how Klaus had managed to block the beams of the weapons with nothing but their bodies.
Many were able to detect the reason, but another question soon formed in their minds.
‘Just how can one imbue runes onto human skin?’
The ones on the armor were within reason. There are numerous armors out there that allow runic modification, so it was normal to see these runes.
However, aside from runic tattoos said to have once been used by a long-perished race, nobody in this modern era could boldly say they could put runes on skin.
Yet Klaus and his teammates now stood with runes dancing on their skins.
“H-HOW?”
Twin Dagger Fiend asked, his expression breaking now. The fury he felt had cracked, and now, Klaus could smell fear in his voice.
“Very simple, really. I merely turned our skin and armor into shields capable of blocking SSE-Class weapons, and to some extent, even X-Class weapons.”
Klaus grinned, knowing many would be shocked by now.
While on their way to the shattered valley, he spent some time meditating. In truth, he wasn’t meditating; rather, he was creating these runes inside his soul sea.
Klaus understood that while the Zhou twins could handle Doomsday weapons, if dozens were fired at once, they wouldn’t be able to defend against them all. So why not tap into his knowledge as an Engineer and create something mind-bending?
He did after a few tries, and now, he could tell his experiment worked.
Then again, he wouldn’t tell his friends he wasn’t sure the runes would work and that he gambled with their lives. But since it worked, he could only proceed to the next plan, which was killing his way to the last warrior.
“Your only mistake was thinking you could ambush me, Twin Dagger Fiend. Honestly, I pity you for being my first opponent after arriving on this battlefield.
You see, I have this plan to send a very chilling message to your leaders. So you can say I planned to make sure you die a very painful death, and since that is the only way I can send that message, allow me to do just that.”
Klaus took one step forward, and the space around him twisted. The next second, he was standing before Twin Dagger Fiend, his neck tightly held in Klaus’s grip.
“Mind Bomb.” Klaus unleashed a mind attack, causing Twin Dagger Fiend to lose focus for a few moments. Those few moments were enough for Klaus to disarm him and create the perfect battlefield for his torture.
“I will leave the rest to you guys.”
With that, Klaus activated a domain-like skill, and both of them were enveloped by it. Thus began Twin Dagger Fiend’s ultimate humiliation and torture, one that Klaus had plans to last for at least an hour.
Kilian pointed his sword forward and spoke coldly, “Allow me to dispatch you lot.”
His body blurred, and then screams of pain and anguish followed. He had left the first 10,000 to Gorr, and now, there were 30,000 for him to kill. But he wasn’t alone in this unholy massacre.
His girlfriend, Scarlet, had also joined in, and so had Danny and Mark, along with their girlfriends.
Yasmi, the healer in the group, decided to kill today, so she tapped into her second class and, wielding a crossbow, joined the battle.
In no time, the winner became clear. Klaus and his teammates had come up with a better plan and prepared well to ensure that what was supposed to be an ambush turned into a massacre for them.
Twin Dagger Fiend and his warriors had themselves to blame. They underestimated Klaus and his teammates, and that alone had landed them in this mess.
But things were far from over. In fact, things had only just begun since, on the battlefield, some people were still missing…
