Chapter 1748: Blood Is Thicker Than Water (1)
The few missing from the battle, even at this moment, were Akutaq, Yaxche and Matthew.
While Yaxche had made a brief appearance by killing Number Seven, the rest hadn’t shown themselves yet, which begged the question, why was Klaus hiding them?
Their answer could wait for a moment.
Klaus had severed one of Twin Dagger Fiend’s hands and blinded one eye, making sure he suffered slowly and painfully before he killed him.
“You are a rather unfortunate individual. You know, when I saw your name while scrolling through the mission board, I laughed. It was as if you were destined to be killed by me, so when I saw your name, I felt this form of connection to you.
Luckily for me, you are dumb and weak, which works in my favour in case you don’t know.”
Klaus laughed, landing a kick in his stomach. The impact sent him flying back, his bones screaming at him. In fact, he felt his body try to give up on him.
But Klaus didn’t bother.
He was facing off against a Pseudo-Primordial, yet it felt like he was the strongest.
Klaus knew if Twin Dagger Fiend had gained the upper hand from the start, he would be forced to ask for help. So he first broke his mind, made him feel fear, and then attacked, making sure the impact was instantaneous.
The moment he unleashed the mind attack, he had already won.
That was how decisive Klaus was and why he had always won his battles. He took every small opening he could get to cause the most damage.
Luckily for him, he had always found that opening even when he wasn’t looking for one.
So Twin Dagger Fiend, as he was sent flying, could only wonder how he had landed himself in this mess. More chillingly, he had no way of pulling himself out, no matter how hard he tried.
‘Just what kind of monster is he?’
In the past, when conversations about the Paragon came up, he was among the many who would arrogantly call his bluff. They knew, regardless of what he did or how monstrous he was, as a mere demigod, he shouldn’t be able to battle Supremes and Celestials.
But he did, and now, he was doing it.
‘Wait, isn’t he supposed to be a demigod? Why is he a God Emperor now?’ Twin Dagger Fiend thought inwardly, his eyes widening.
Then it dawned on him… ‘He had become a god, which, if what had been said about him is true, then he is even more dangerous now. Damn it,’ he cursed, his expression turning even more grim now.
‘He must die before he grows even stronger.’
Unfortunately for him, Klaus had no plans to let him gain the upper hand.
Talking about hands, just when his body managed to stabilise, Klaus arrived before him, and with one decisive swing, he severed his other hand, ending his chances of wielding a weapon.
He could not regenerate his arm, not because he lacked the energy to do that, but because Klaus prevented him from doing so.
His cuts could not be easily healed, much less regenerated.
So Twin Dagger Fiend may be a Pseudo-Primordial, but with both arms gone, he was as good as dead. Klaus had no plans to let him live for longer than an hour, so, slowly, almost as if he were doing this for fun, time soon began to pass.
10 minutes into the battle, a smile formed at the corner of Klaus’s lips.
“So early, but you have to die now.” Klaus moved, and before Twin Dagger Fiend could blink, his sword had already pierced his forehead.
Before he even died, Klaus had already tossed him into Asmodeus’s undead space and had turned toward the distance where Kilian and the rest were almost done with the 30,000 warriors and the Battle Androids.
After making sure they were fine, he smiled and turned to his left…
“Well then, this is going to be chaotic real quick.”
The smile on his face slowly died down when, all of a sudden, the void exploded open, and nine people appeared, each no weaker than the newly dead or half-dead Twin Dagger Fiend.
They each wore a mask, and judging by the aura of death around them, they had each killed their fair share of people.
Naturally, the moment they appeared, everyone watching gasped.
“The Nine Deadly Omens.”
Yes, they called themselves the Nine Deadly Omens, each wielding a concept of Death. Their legends had long become a warning to all new warriors who arrived on the Ancient Battlefield.
As they used to say, when you meet the Nine Deadly Omens, then you know death wouldn’t even be able to save you.
People all across the Ancient Battlefield could only sigh, their thoughts and moods shifting toward Klaus’s eventual death.
“How unfortunate. I had such high hopes for him.”
“Same here. I was hoping he would be able to kill his way across the Ancient Battlefield, finally upping the morale among our warriors. Now, with him meeting the Nine Deadly Omens, he is destined to fall today.”
“You are all forgetting something. The Paragon said this is merely one of his many bodies. Even if this one dies, there are more out there.”
“And when they come, the Nine Deadly Omens will be waiting to keep killing until he falls.”
If Klaus were present, he would have laughed at these statements.
But he now faced off against nine of the deadliest warriors to ever come from the Foreign Race.
“You know, I feel like jumping up and down like a little girl right now.” Klaus laughed, his left hand inside his pocket, while his right hand made a thumbs-up and then turned it down.
“You lot are the Nine Deadly Omens, right?” he asked.
“We are, and now you are going to die.”
“That is true, I am indeed going to die,” Klaus laughed… “However, I wouldn’t be dying today.”
Just as he said that, Kilian, Danny, Daniel, Jason, Miguel, Kay, Mark, Akutaq, Yaxche, Gorr, Asmodeus and Matthew appeared behind Klaus, their girlfriends following.
“Hahahaha, you think you can stop us with mere Supremes?” one of the Nine Deadly Omens laughed, his mocking tone resonating across the space.
Klaus looked at him and smirked, “Of course, they alone cannot finish you off. However, he can make sure they succeed.”
Just as Klaus said that, the smell of blood suddenly filled the space. Then, from the void, an amusing voice reached everyone’s ears.
“My, my, it’s been such a long time since I smelled this much blood waiting to be devoured.”
