Chapter 829: Supreme Dragon of Darknes, Valus. (10)

The halls of her palace were silent, unlike Alan's Jade Palace, though it may have been inspired from her own palace of ice, it could hardly compare.

The Jade Palace, along with the surrounding city could be said to be bustling, soldiers were all around, even though most of the Jade Palace wasn't functioning. But even with all of that, The Jade Palace was merely a copy, an imitation.

The Palace of Ice, Lanesha's home, was silent, unlike the bustling city of jade soldiers. The Jade palace, including the surrounding city, weren't even one tenth of Lanesha's palace.

It was filled to the brim with rooms and grand halls, everything a castle needed, but it was empty. Lanesha preferred it that way, she could stare up and look at the Weave without anything disturbing her.

Her Palace was beautiful, but hardly anyone could appreciate the beauty in the darkness that surrounded it. As a part of the family, she found comfort in the darkness. Of course, there were still faint lights in the entire palace, but they were hardly enough.

The only place fully lit could be her throne room, and even then it was only when Lanesha began to stare at the Weave, filling the throne room with its radiance.

She had been enamored with it ever since she was born, even if she hadn't been born with the affinity for fate... she had gained it due to her obsession with the Weave, and it was of quite a high rank as well.

However, even then, she was unable to truly understand the Weave, she could only watch it move and barely be able to decipher the meaning. Despite it all, she was still obsessed with the weave.

The most beautiful supreme being raised her head high, and her eyes, diamonds of incomparable quality, refracted the color of gold all throughout her throne room. Lanesha silently tried to decipher the meaning of the Weave, but her 'fun' hobby was interrupted.

The gold in the throne room disappeared, replaced by a darkness nothing could pierce through, a dark veil covered her view of the Weave, and drowned her entire palace in darkness.

Lanesha sighed, and lowered her head, she smirked slightly, resting her chin on her hand as she waited for his arrival.

Her brother had decided to visit after... a century or so? She didn't really know, she was unaware of the passage of time outside, spending too long here had such after effects.

The sound of heavy but gentle footsteps resounded through her halls, and with each one, the surrounding darkness seemed to thicken. She almost let out a laugh, the display of power was too much, even if it was unintended.

It was just the natural effect Valus's presence had, it wouldn't go away unless he willed it seriously.

"Not even a hello?"

She said, her eyes glued forward, waiting for him to come out of the darkness. After a while, a response did come.

"Greetings."

An old and heavy voice resounded, and the darkness began to take form. Lanesha laughed softly.

"So old-fashioned."

"It comes and goes."

Valus answered as he emerged fully, a man towering over Lanesha. He was a man with skin as black as the night itself, and hair akin to obsidian glass, but around his black eyes and at the center of his chest, his skin was white. A soft light, compared to the endless darkness.

The Supreme Dragon of Darkness, Valus, the Head of house Shivalkulan, and arguably the only dragon that was worshiped like a god by those of the house of Death, a practice usually reserved for God Beasts.

Dragons didn't like to be worshiped, and even forbade it... but the species belonging to the house of Death revered Valus so much no attempt of his to stop such reverence worked, it only increased it further.

The Dark Elves, the Duerger, The Gnomes, The Lamia of the Night, the Arachne, The Cave Dwellers, and even the demons themselves. The house of Death welcomed all, because Death came to all.

Nothing could escape from it, it was just how Ariel had decided it to be when she created it. She created the end.

And Valus became the representation of it, the manifestation of the end, the embodiment of it. The Darkness beyond the radiance of life was not malicious, rather a welcoming abode for those to rest, the darkness that one could find comfort in as their life reached their end.

However, there were many kinds of darkness, but in all those, a ray of light existed as well. In the Darkest times, A light was always there, a light to guide you out of the darkness... and just as Valus was the Darkness that rested beyond the gates of life.

He was also the light that guided you to it. The Dragon of Darkness was a peculiar existence.

"Would you like a cup of tea, my dear brother?"

A sigh escaped his lips, heavy and tired, Valus walked over to Lanesha with heavy steps.

"This visit is brief."

"Oh, and what bothers you?"

"You know it all too well, Lanesha Vi Frigardi Shi la Ariel."

The Frost Supreme opened her eyes wide, it had been a while since her brother had called her by her name, her 'true' name. A full name not given by the parents, but rather gifted and earned through her own efforts, bestowed by the Weave.

Her identity itself.

Valus stepped forward, his figure ascended, as the darkness beneath his feet rose to meet his demands, granting him a position higher than Lanesha. He closed in on her, and said.

"Mother spoils you too much, We all do. You are our youngest sister, after all. Though I'm afraid Mother took it to another level after what happened to Shi..."

Regret laced his voice, but it was still as powerful as ever. Lanesha stared at her brother, looking down at her from a position she could never reach, and a frown appeared on her face.

"I'll be frank, Lanesha."

The brilliance of the diamonds in her eyes faded as it met the endless darkness apparent in Valus's black eyes, the tides turned as the darkness asked a question.

"Tell me, what did James find in the Void?"
