Chapter 3986: An Explosive Debut

Chapter 3986: An Explosive Debut

Lin Mu’s eyes gleamed. "Senior, are you sure about this?"

He alone had not formulated this plan, Xukong had contributed a lot to it and even Lin Mo had thrown in a few suggestions but Lin Mu ignored them as they were far worse than this. It was actually Xukong’s push that had led Lin Mu to picking this version of the plan.

Xukong’s voice appeared in his mind."Completely."

Lin Mu smiled. "You realize half the prisoners might think the Mad Demon himself has awakened."

"That is acceptable." Xukong replied.

"And the sect may interpret this as an attack." Lin Mu added.

"That is also acceptable." Xukong laughed.

"You really are enjoying this." Lin Mu chuckled.

Immortal Qi began gathering around his arm and Immortal essence followed. The two energies twisted around each other. At first, they appeared like two separate streams but then Lin Mu’s will forced them closer.

The streams intertwined as one revolved clockwise and the other revolved counterclockwise. The two strands soon formed a double helix and the surrounding air began trembling.

Lin Mu’s expression became solemn as he was going to use a technique the Mountain Collapsing Fist’s third form. He poured nearly twenty percent of his available immortal Qi and immortal essence into the attack.

The amount was enormous as the ground beneath his feet began cracking. Rocks rose from the ground and floated for several moments before being shredded by the pressure surrounding his body.

The air itself seemed to become heavy and Lin Mu calculated the distance. The surface was far away. Much farther than an ordinary mountain peak. The Mad Demon Depths had several layers of rock separating the lower regions from the world above. As such he needed enough power to break through all of them.

He took a deep breath and then his lips curved upward. The expression was completely different from the Lin Mu that people knew. It was arrogant and utterly confident, almost bordering on reckless.

Exactly like the Junior Elder he had spent days studying.

"Here we go." His fist moved. "Mountain Collapsing Fist."

The surrounding space shook.

"Third Form." The double helix condensed. "Devastator!"

BOOM!

The attack erupted as a double helix of energy shot upward from Lin Mu’s fist. The rocky ceiling shattered instantly and the impact created an enormous explosion.

RUMBLE!

KABOOM!

The sound traveled through the Mad Demon Depths like thunder and an enormous column of rock was blasted apart while the double helix continued upward. Its spiraling energy drilled through the layers of stone with terrifying speed.

Another explosion followed in a series of many. Each detonation sent shockwaves through the surrounding underground world. The ground trembled as entire sections of caves collapsed and rocks rained down from ceilings.

Entire ancient formations flickered as their foundations shook. And for the prisoners living throughout the Mad Demon Depths, the sudden disturbance felt like the world itself had begun collapsing.

In one settlement, a group of prisoners had been preparing food around a fire when the first tremor struck.

The ground shifted beneath their feet.

"What was that?" A woman immediately stood.

Another tremor followed and this time the wooden hut behind them shook violently.

"Waaaa!" A child screamed.

"Everyone outside!" The adults rushed toward the open area.

Then a tremendous explosion echoed through the underground world. The sound was so deep that it seemed to come from every direction at once.

"Is the ceiling collapsing?"

"Run!"

"Where?"

"Anywhere!"

Similar scenes unfolded throughout the settlements. Some prisoners grabbed their children, others grabbed weapons while several simply ran. But the beasts reacted even faster.

Spirit beasts that had spent decades claiming particular territories suddenly fled toward safer regions. Birds erupted from the forest canopy in massive flocks. Insects crawled from beneath the soil in such numbers that entire sections of the forest seemed to move.

Several powerful beasts raised their heads toward the source and a few even roared. Then another explosion struck and those same beasts turned around and fled. Even creatures that had survived in the Mad Demon Depths for thousands of years understood the meaning of that sound.

Something extremely powerful was moving through the world beneath them.

The settlements were thrown into chaos. The tribes that had spent generations learning how to survive every danger had no idea what they were facing.

One prisoner looked toward the sky of the cavern. "Is the world breaking?"

Another shook his head frantically. "I don’t know!"

"Could the deity be angry?"

"Forget the deity! Run!"

In another region, the people who had once spoken with Lin Mu recognized the energy. The chief of the larger village had been outside when the first explosion arrived. He immediately looked toward the direction of the disturbance.

His expression became serious. "What is happening?"

One of the elders beside him stared toward the ceiling. "Something is breaking through."

The chief’s eyes widened. "From below?"

Before anyone could answer, another explosion shook the settlement.

The chief steadied himself and his gaze became grim. "Everyone stay calm."

He had no idea that the person responsible was the very individual who had recently brought them the name of their ancient benefactor. Far above them, the double helix continued its ascent as Lin Mu’s attack tore through another layer.

BOOM!

A massive section of rock exploded and the energy continued upward.

Lin Mu followed behind it and did not rush. His body stepped through the air as he followed the tunnel created by his own attack. The distance between him and the surface continued shrinking.

Ten kilometers, five kilometers, three and then one. Eventually the final layer shattered!

BOOM!

The double helix burst through the surface of the Mad Demon Depths and for a brief moment, the world seemed to freeze. Then a brilliant pillar of spiraling energy erupted into the sky.

The double helix continued upward for several kilometers before reaching its limit and then it exploded.

BOOOOOOOOOOOOM!

The resulting shockwave spread through the heavens as clouds were scattered and the sky cleared across nearly a hundred kilometers.
