What Do You Mean I'm The Captain Of A Yandere Mercenary Company?

Chapter 870: She’s Buying Me Dinner First

Chapter 870: She’s Buying Me Dinner First

So basically... Their civilisation was one that relied on skin... Or rather... Their scale colour... Hmm...

There’s so many things I want to say in regards to that but... I think it’s better if I just kept my mouth shut for now.

Our conversation cut off there as the car had come to a stop outside a certain building and the doors were opened for us.

I quickly realised the building was a hotel with how the staff outside the building was dressed and I was ushered past the entrance while Vieretha followed alongside me.

Also... She had then wrapped her arm around mine like it was the most natural thing to do...

I let her do it since she was treating me to food anyway. And I’m quite looking forward to what kind of food might be served here.

Hey, I’ve still not given up on actually finding a great chef somewhere around the Inner Colonies ok? After all... One of the first meals I’ve eaten in that mining station I came across... That slop that the chef made was actually still edible despite looking like crap!

She guided me inside the lobby and the staff immediately came over to bow towards her.

"Lady Iceborne, welcome back."

"Mmm... Get our top suite ready and have a private dining room prepared for my guest," She ordered.

Somehow, it felt like there was a chill in the air just from her speaking.

The staff only paused for a moment before he lowered his head again, "It will be done, my lady."

My eyes drifted to the name of the hotel.

’Iceborne Palace: Serenity Pleasure Station.’

I’m assuming that this hotel is part of a franchise and this is just one of its branches.

And I have a good idea of who the owners are...

I turned to Vieretha and she obviously knew I knew who was the owner since she shot me a smile before continuing to pull me along with her.

She suddenly paused before turning back to look at my girls, "I must apologise for this but we do not allow weapons in the premises. I’m afraid this is not something we can give an exception to. You can deposit your weapons over there~"

The Dragonling woman gestured towards a counter at the side of the entrance.

My girls looked at me and I nodded. If we really need to fight, having no weapons wouldn’t actually make us weaker anyway since there’s still Amber, Mara and myself here.

If we have to fight our way out... Then we would just kill everyone.

I had to leave my halberd in the shape of a cube as well and thankfully, no one asked how it worked so we just moved on.

We entered through a scanner that checked us for weapons and I had a moment to worry about it detecting Renata as one but it didn’t show any reaction so I guess it was not tuned to detect eldritch entities.

Just like the Grand Honpeki that we stayed at previously, this was definitely a high class hotel with the clientele to match.

I was reminded of how the people around us reacted when Mara’s family appeared in the lobby where everyone had to bow their heads and lower their gazes.

Now it wasn’t exactly the same here but I would say it was a similar situation as everyone in the lobby paused and silence settled over the floor when Vieretha entered with me beside her.

She was obviously someone pretty important to get a reaction like this.

I managed to catch some whispers from some of the guests at least.

"Is that..."

"Vieretha Iceborne? Yes... The one who they call the ice dragoness..."

"She’s the one who runs the businesses of the family, isn’t she?"

"Yeah... Took over the role when she was still really young too... Their family was one of the few Dragonling Families that do not solely rely on their heritage to maintain their standing."

"Who’s that beside her?"

"Maybe... A concubine?"

"Are you stupid? That’s Vieretha Iceborne we’re talking about. How many suitors has she turned down? I heard she even killed the last one that tried to court her!"

"Yeah. I’ve never even heard of her having any secret lovers. So someone accompanying her is definitely a surprise..."

Ok... Why does it sound like I got involved in someone troublesome again? She’s totally giving me Eleanor vibes...

If Vieretha heard any of the things that were being whispered about her, she did not show it and merely continued guiding me through the hotel lobby.

We rode the elevator up to the higher floors of the hotel until we reached one of the middle floors of the building.

We stepped out to a bunch of staff all gathered in front of the lift, some of them being Dragonlings while most of them were still humans.

All of them bowed in unison, "Welcome, Lady Iceborne!"

Vieretha only made a humming sound in response before she walked past all of them while dragging me along.

She was obviously familiar with this place as she didn’t need a guide to move through the restaurant here to reach a private room that was in the midst of being prepared.

In the room was a square table with two seats facing each other and at one side of the room...

Oh? This setup looks familiar... They have a teppan grill here too? Is this like a fad for the rich or something that is considered high class so restaurants appealing to the higher class of clientele would need to have this?

Well... Merina’s cooking wasn’t perfect but it was still pretty good in terms of this universe’s standards so maybe there might be a surprise here?

"Please, have a seat, Lady Tera," Vieretha guided me to one of the chairs and even pulled it out so that I could sit down on it.

Kind of ironic since she had been holding my arm as a lady this entire time yet she went ahead to pull out my chair for me instead of the other way around.

I didn’t argue and took her invitation, though I realised that there were no other seats for my girls.

I cleared my throat, "Ahem... What about my err... My bodyguards?" I asked.

The black Dragonling tilted her head at me as she sat down, "Oh? Do you usually eat with your bodyguards at the same time? That doesn’t seem very proper of them?"

Is she really still going along with this farce? She already knows I’m a Mercenary captain and not some noble lady right? So my girls shouldn’t be my bodyguards but my crew instead.

Unless... She actually thinks that I’m a Merc with bodyguards or something? There’s no way, right?

Actually... She looked genuinely confused right now... Did she not check who my girls were and only looked into me?

I was about to correct her when Amber spoke up, "There is no need, Lady Tera~ We will just simply stand guard."

Really? She’s really enjoying this bodyguard role huh?

No wait... They just want an excuse to say that I have to feed them later, don’t they? Ugh... You know you can just ask and I’ll do it anyway right?

Whatever, I love you girls too much. I’ll see if I have to use our ship’s kitchen or I could just borrow their kitchen later...

I turned back to Vieretha, "It’s fine then... So... What do you want?"

She smiled, "Oh my, there’s no need to rush, Lady Tera. First, I need to show you some hospitality or else I would appear rude~"

As if on cue, the door opened and a young woman wearing chef’s clothes entered.

She moved towards our table and bowed stiffly, "Lady Iceborne... I will be serving as your chef today."

Contrary to how active she was in speaking to me, the black Dragonling only gave the girl a curt nod.

The girl didn’t look surprised and simply went to the teppan grill and started her preparations.

I was also interested in it so I watched as she brought out several tools that popped out from the counter before a side panel opened up on one part of the wall to reveal a console panel.

The chef went over to it and started tapping on the console which then prompted the top of the counter beside the teppan grill to pop open, allowing several dishes filled with various ingredients to appear.

Oh wow, that’s cool~ I wonder if I could use that later~

As I watched the chef prepare, I felt my expectations drop to nonexistence when I saw her placing the food on the grill with not even a single seasoning in sight.

Damnit... She probably went to the same cooking school as Merina or something...

I guess I can only look forward to some plain food for dinner then...

Actually... Would it be rude of me to just take over the cooking now?
