Chapter 1193, The Dragons’ Provocation?
Chapter 1193, The Dragons’ Provocation?
Translator: Silavin
The two Giant Dragons heading towards the group made their intentions perfectly clear. There was no attempt to hide it.
It was unusual. Generally speaking, flying directly at another party in such a straight, unyielding line served one of only two purposes, either as a provocation, or because one had something to stop the other party from doing.
As a rule, it was the former.
After all, among Giant Dragons, there were no great matters that required one to notify a Giant Dragon that one did not know.
It was in fact far more common among Giant Dragons for disputes to arise from thoroughly trivial matters like: ‘What are you looking at?’, ‘What’s it to you?’, ‘Try looking at me again and see what happens,’ ‘Go on then, I will…’ etc… etc…
Giant Dragons were troublesome by nature. They would come to blows over something truly trivial.
If the Giant Dragon was like the Flame Dragon, with his temperament, they naturally would never retreat. They would directly fly straight up to ask the other party what exactly their problem was.
And predictably, the Flame Dragon gave a cold snort and was already preparing to fly forward to meet the others head-on.
The Two Headed Dragon, however, was somewhat more composed, and understood that now was not the time to invite additional trouble.
“Don’t go over. Let us issue a warning first, and see what their attitude is!” The Two Headed Dragon commanded the Flame Dragon not to act rashly, then breathed out a Dragon Breath into the open sky.
The Dragon Breath exploded in mid-air like a firework, a clear signal to the approaching pair: ‘do not come closer’.
If the other party still flew straight towards them without altering course, that would be a clear declaration of provocation.
Attempting to avoid them at this point would not be wise, either. If they saw one retreating, they would naturally take it as fear.
To a Giant Dragon, such a timid, mouse-hearted opponent was in fact an appealing toy, one they would certainly chase down and play with.
So, if the Two Headed Dragon’s warning proved useless, it would mean the other party was set on provocation, and there would simply be no choice but to fight.
If it truly came to a fight, Lu Fan’s side had nothing to worry about. After all, they had two adult Giant Dragons, not to mention an entire group of Ancient Gods. Unless the approaching pair happened to be Dragon Kings, they would be no match for Lu Fan and his companions.
After the Two Headed Dragon’s warning concluded, the other party showed no intention whatsoever of altering their course, still flying directly towards them in that same unyielding line.
“It seems our visitors are not here with good intentions!” The Flame Dragon said with a cold laugh. “In that case, there was never a need to show them any goodwill from the start. If they dare charge over here, we simply destroy them and be done with it! We have been away from the Dragon Domain so long, and we haven’t encountered Juniors this arrogant in quite some time!”
The Two Headed Dragon said nothing, though appeared to agree with the Flame Dragon’s assessment.
He was calmer than the Flame Dragon, but that did not mean he was entirely without a temper.
He was a Giant Dragon, after all, and even if he did not enjoy seeking trouble, when trouble found him, he naturally had no reason to be afraid.
Particularly when the other party was being this deliberately confrontational. Without a proper fight, it would most likely be very difficult to shake them off. A battle at this point was the only way to resolve the matter.
And so, the Two Headed Dragon’s aura surged to its full extent, and he readied himself for combat.
Lu Fan had come to understand a thing or two about the customs between Giant Dragons over time. He called out to the group. “Everyone, prepare for combat. If a fight breaks out in a moment, we need to resolve it as swiftly as possible. We cannot afford to waste too much time here.”
The others prepared themselves accordingly, ready to meet the approaching pair.
In a moment, the two sides came face to face in mid-air.
Lu Fan had expected the other party to open with a Dragon Breath the instant they were in range.
What he had not anticipated, however, was that the two stopped at a safe distance.
“Halt. There is danger ahead. Passage is prohibited!” A spiritual vibration radiated from the pair, reaching every person present, conveying their intention clearly.
Lu Fan immediately sensed that there had been some kind of misunderstanding. The two had not come to provoke anyone, but to prevent Lu Fan’s group from proceeding any further.
The two Giant Dragons were: a Bronze Dragon suited to close-quarters combat and a Jade Dragon, a rarer Dragon Species.
The two together could not be underestimated. A Jade Dragon, in its Soul Light Form, had attached itself to the Bronze Dragon, enough to transform that Bronze Dragon into a devastating instrument of destruction. The one who had spoken just now was the Bronze Dragon.
The Two Headed Dragon sensed something was off as well, and reined in his own oppressive aura, coolly asking. “What is the meaning of this? What is your purpose in blocking our path?”
The Bronze Dragon beat his wings steadily while his spiritual vibration transmitted his words. “Have you two perhaps returned from outside the Dragon Domain? Have you truly not heard of what has happened inside?”
“What happened? What are you talking about?” the Flame Dragon asked, puzzled.
The Two Headed Dragon explained. “We have indeed been absent from the Dragon Domain for some time. We have only just returned. We are unaware of any changes within it.”
“That explains it.” The Bronze Dragon said. “The Valley of Life has undergone a massive change. It has been devoured by an unknown creature. This creature is now expanding outward with a ferocity that cannot be checked. A large portion of the Dragon Domain’s territory has already been consumed, and many Giant Dragons have lost their lives in the process.”
“At present, many of the Dragon Domain’s Giant Dragons, led by the Bronze Dragon King, have spontaneously formed an alliance to resist its advance, and are currently seeking some means to eliminate this threat. What lies ahead is the battlefield. If you were to wander into it, you might be devoured by that creature.”
Lu Fan’s voice rang out immediately: “This creature you speak of, is it the sort that transforms everything it touches into rotting mud?”
The Bronze Dragon and Jade Dragon had until this moment kept their attention entirely on the Two Headed Dragon and the Flame Dragon, and had not noticed that Lu Fan and the other Humans were present on their backs at all.
The moment Lu Fan opened his mouth, it drew the immediate attention of both Dragons.
The Jade Dragon exclaimed in astonishment. “Humans?! How could Humans enter the Dragon Domain!? This is nothing short of desecration to our land!”
The Two Headed Dragon’s voice dropped at once. “Do not insult my Human friends in that manner! It is true that in terms of raw strength, Humans are far weaker than Giant Dragons, but there are those among Humanity who are strong enough to command your respect and mine!”
At this moment, Ouyang Bai Ge considered for a moment, then abruptly let her body erupt, transforming her entire form into an extraordinarily terrifying giant Void Insect. Her oppressive aura then swept outward and gave both Dragons a shock.
*Boom!* The transformed Ouyang Bai Ge added. “We are not, in truth, really Humans. We are something far more powerful. The creature you speak of, the one devouring the Dragon Domain, is in fact the very target we came to the Dragon Domain to eliminate. Would you be kind enough to inform us of exactly what has occurred here?”
Giant Dragons were beings that deeply respected strength. Had these been ordinary Humans, the Dragons would have had no interest in even acknowledging their presence.
But the moment Ouyang Bai Ge revealed her strength, she immediately earned the recognition of both Dragons, who realised that this party was perhaps no weaker than Giant Dragons themselves.
