Chapter 437: Chapter 437: Mystery Solved?

And she still needed him to serve her, even though he was already buried under countless responsibilities.

’He’s already so busy... why am I still relying on him like this?’ she thought, yet her spoon moved far faster than her hesitation.

The steam from the dumpling soup rose softly, carrying a warm, savory fragrance that clung to the air.

As she drank it down, her cheeks gradually puffed up, and without pausing, she reached for the other dishes laid out before her.

One after another, she ate with visible delight shining in her eyes, completely immersed, as though the world beyond the table no longer existed.

This was the exact scene Silas witnessed the moment he stepped inside.

He stopped in his tracks and let out a helpless sigh, ’My wife is really too cute.’

From where he stood, Ivy looked like a little pink squirrel, cheeks full, teeth peeking out as she ate with earnest concentration.

The sight tugged at something deep within him, and for a brief moment, an intense urge surged through his chest... to pull her into his arms and kiss her senseless.

But he restrained himself. ’Now isn’t the time,’ he reminded himself calmly.

Compared to fleeting desire, watching her eat properly mattered far more. There were so few moments when she actually did.

As he continued observing, however, something felt off.

Ivy ate quickly, yet when she finally stopped, more than half of the food remained.

She carefully stored the leftovers back into her space. Silas frowned slightly, puzzled.

’That portion alone was enough for a full meal... why only eat half?’

Before he could dwell on it further, Ivy took out another tiffin box. One glance was enough for him to recognize its origin... the Nightbane family.

He watched silently as she opened it and began to eat again, but this time, her movements were slow, almost forced.

Each bite seemed reluctant, as if she were merely fulfilling an obligation. Soon, she stopped again, having eaten barely half... no, not even a third, before putting it away.

At first, Silas thought she must be full. Yet the very next moment, Ivy took out another dish, one he had personally prepared.

Her eyes lit up instantly. She drank it eagerly, savoring every mouthful, only to stop again and store it away with clear restraint.

His heart tightened. ’I get it now...’

She craved his cooking, but she didn’t dare eat it all at once. The supply was limited, and she was trying to save it.

As for the food others gave her, she barely touched it. No wonder her weight never increased... no matter how much time passed, she remained the same.

Understanding struck him like a blow. Silas clenched his jaw slightly.

’If only I’d realized this earlier... I wouldn’t have let her suffer like this.’

He had already resigned from the military, stepped away from the battlefield and the constant bloodshed.

Now, he had more than enough time. Enough time to cook for her. Enough time to watch over her. Enough time to make sure his wife finally gained some weight.

With that resolve firm in his heart, he knocked on the door. Ivy startled, finally realizing someone was there.

Had it been anyone else, she would have sensed them immediately; her vigilance was always high. But when it came to Silas, her guard dropped so completely that she never noticed him at all.

The moment she saw him, Ivy sprang to her feet and rushed over, throwing herself into his arms. "I missed you so much."

Her words stirred a deep ache in Silas’s chest. He wrapped his arms around her tightly. "I missed you too."

The embrace was strong, almost as if he wanted to fuse their bodies together. Yet Ivy didn’t complain.

Being held like this always filled her with a strange sense of safety and fulfillment, as though as long as Silas was here, he would never leave her in this lifetime. She hugged him back, her voice muffled against his chest.

"There’s so much I want to tell you."

Dragging him to a chair, she recounted everything that had happened. As Silas listened, his expression remained calm, until Arthur’s name came up.

His eyes darkened briefly before he curved his lips into a gentle smile.

"There’s something I need to do."

When they reached the place where Arthur was being held, Ivy looked at him uneasily. "What are you planning to do?"

Silas shook his head lightly. "Nothing important. I just want to meet someone."

She paused. Ivy understood instantly what he intended, and she had no desire to stop him.

’If he wants to take revenge for me... why would I refuse?’

She led him there without hesitation. Once inside, Silas stopped and turned to her. "Stay outside and handle the matters of the base."

Ivy hesitated, worry flickering in her eyes. Silas offered her a faint, reassuring smile. "It’ll be fine. Go on."

In the end, she nodded and left.

The moment she was gone, Silas rolled his neck slowly, the soft cracking sound echoing faintly in the corridor.

He walked toward Arthur’s prison cell. As he arrived, he extended his hand, and the guard immediately placed the key into his palm.

Everyone knew his position; being Ivy’s husband meant that most decisions ultimately passed through him. If Silas wanted something, he would get it.

He unlocked the door and stepped inside without hesitation.

Arthur lay on the floor, barely conscious, his body a mess. Silas approached and looked down at him with a mild smile.

"How are you holding up?"

The moment Arthur recognized him, his entire body began to tremble uncontrollably.

Fear overwhelmed him so completely that he lost control of himself, a dark stain spreading beneath him.

Seeing this, Silas curled his lips in disdain. "I’ve met cowards before," he murmured coldly, "but none as pathetic as you."

Arthur shook even harder at those words.

What Ivy didn’t know was that every time Arthur had harassed her in the past, Silas would find a secluded place and teach him a lesson.
