Chapter 762: Treatement Plan
Chapter 762: Chapter 762: Treatement Plan
Asher instantly became speechless. Not long afterward, Danielle finally arrived.
The moment she stepped out of the vehicle, she immediately noticed Ron’s little sister standing near the entrance, staring at Asher with an extremely guarded expression.
As soon as the little girl sensed another unfamiliar person approaching, her body became even more tense.
Danielle immediately put on a warm smile before kneeling down so that she was at eye level with the child.
“Hi, little one. I’m here to help your brother. Don’t worry. We’re from the base, and we’ll make sure your brother receives proper treatment.”
The little girl cautiously looked at her. “Are you telling the truth?”
Danielle nodded without hesitation. “Of course.”
The little girl narrowed her eyes. “Do you have any proof?”
Danielle immediately took out her official work identification card.
Although the little girl clearly couldn’t understand anything written on it, she carefully examined it for several seconds before pretending that she did.
She handed it back with a serious nod. “All right… then I’ll trust you this once.”
Only then did the guarded look on her face soften slightly. She slowly stepped aside and allowed Danielle to enter the house.
After Danielle walked inside, Asher quietly informed her,
“The person inside isn’t just an ordinary patient. He’s under Silas’s protection. Handle everything carefully.”
Danielle simply nodded before entering the room. Once both Danielle and Ron’s sister were inside, Asher looked at Danielle and spoke without any shame. “Take care of everything for me.”
Danielle rolled her eyes.
‘I thought he was some capable officer who handled everything personally. From the looks of it, he’s just another superior who throws all the work onto his subordinates.’
Even so, she didn’t argue. Instead, she crouched beside Ron and carefully examined his condition.
Although she wasn’t a doctor, a quick assessment was enough for her to understand just how serious his injuries were.
She immediately took out her iPad and began making arrangements while speaking to Asher.
“Mr. Ron’s condition is extremely critical. We need to assign him a healer immediately, and not just any healer, a top-grade one.”
She continued tapping rapidly across the screen.
“Normally, Alana would be our first choice. Unfortunately, she’s currently occupied with personal matters, so we can’t disturb her. Therefore, I’m assigning the second-best option, Leonardo. He should arrive here around four-thirty.”
After finishing the arrangements, Danielle turned toward Ron’s younger sister.
“Little girl… did you have food here?”
The little girl shook her head. Danielle quickly put away her iPad before continuing to make arrangements.
“I’ll check the household supplies first and see whether there’s enough food. After that, I’ll inspect the living conditions and determine if Mr. Ron requires any additional upgrades or assistance.”
She then turned toward Asher.
“It would also be helpful if you could contact Mr. Silas and ask what level of operational or preferential treatment should be provided to Mr. Ron.”
Hearing those words, Asher casually waved his hand.
“It won’t be anything that serious. Just look after him a little. My brother didn’t specify anything beyond that.”
Danielle frowned slightly.
“Then we should ask for more details. Otherwise, we might end up making fools of ourselves by assuming the wrong things.”
A faint chuckle escaped Asher’s lips. “You really are thorough.”
With that, he pulled out his phone and immediately dialed Silas’s number. The call connected after only a few rings.
After briefly informing him about Ron’s condition and everything that had happened, Asher patiently waited for his brother’s response.
Almost instantly, Silas’s teasing voice echoed through the speaker. “I never thought my younger brother would become this thoughtful.”
Asher rolled his eyes but remained silent. Silas continued,
“All right, listen carefully. Make sure Ron is moved into the highest-grade duplex available, and ensure that he doesn’t suffer in any way. His medical treatment, food, accommodation, and daily expenses should all receive top priority.”
He paused briefly before adding,
“Also, make sure his little sister eats properly every day and that nobody dares to bully either of them. If necessary, assign security personnel outside their residence.”
Asher immediately noted every instruction down before forwarding the information to Danielle.
She simply nodded, silently indicating that she understood everything.
After the call with Silas ended and Asher gave a brief summary once again, Danielle immediately sprang into action.
Everything moved surprisingly quickly. Within only three hours, she had managed to arrange almost everything.
First, Ron was transferred to a far better medical facility where his condition could be monitored around the clock.
At the same time, several valuable assets and compensation packages were transferred under Ron’s name, something Silas had personally instructed.
Once all the paperwork had been completed, Danielle headed into the kitchen.
The little girl had been quietly holding her stomach for quite some time.
Although she was obviously hungry, she hadn’t uttered a single complaint to either Danielle or Asher. It was clear that she still hadn’t fully trusted either of them.
By the time everything was finished, they had already arrived at the spacious duplex apartment prepared for Ron.
Asher knelt down in front of the little girl and smiled.
“Little girl, aren’t you being a little too guarded around me? If you keep looking at me like that, this old heart of mine won’t be able to take it anymore. I’ll start believing I’ve really become an old man.”
The little girl puffed out her cheeks. “Aren’t you already old?”
Those innocent words struck Asher like an invisible spear. For a brief second, he felt as though someone had stabbed him directly in the heart.
He forced out a helpless smile. “All right, all right. I won’t tease you anymore.”
He gently laughed. “You’re such a little chili pepper.”
With that, he stood up and walked away. Watching his defeated expression, the little girl couldn’t help rolling her eyes.
Meanwhile, Danielle finished preparing a steaming bowl of cup noodles topped with a freshly boiled egg before carefully placing it in front of the little girl.
Warm steam slowly rose from the bowl, carrying the comforting aroma of broth throughout the room.
The little girl cautiously took one small sip. Her eyes immediately widened with delight.
Without saying another word, she quickly grabbed the chopsticks and began eating eagerly. Seeing her reaction, Danielle couldn’t help smiling warmly.
Nearby, Asher found his gaze unconsciously drifting toward Danielle. After all, it had been barely a week since he had last seen her.
Yet somehow, she had changed considerably.
Her once frail body had become noticeably slimmer, while gentle curves now complemented her figure naturally.
Her previously messy hair had been cleaned and tied back, although from Asher’s perspective, it still looked somewhat untidy.
As for her complexion, it had become much brighter than before.
‘Maybe she was always fair-skinned. Working under the scorching sun every day probably tanned her skin all this time.’
Meanwhile, completely unaware that Asher had been secretly observing her over and over again, Danielle’s attention remained entirely focused on the little girl.
Watching her happily eat reminded Danielle of her own younger brother. A warm feeling quietly spread through her chest.
‘She’s honestly adorable…’
After finishing every last bite, the little girl looked up at Danielle. “Sister… will you stay beside me forever?”
Danielle paused slightly before smiling. “Why would you ask something like that?”
The little girl answered honestly without hiding anything.
“My brother is a really good person. He works very hard, earns a lot of money, and always takes good care of me.”
She hesitated briefly before continuing. “If you marry my brother, then I won’t have to worry about having delicious meals anymore.”
She scratched her little cheek. “Even though my brother takes good care of me… he’s a little…”
She didn’t finish the sentence. However, Danielle already understood exactly what she meant.
She couldn’t help laughing softly. This little girl was barely one and a half years old. Yet she spoke almost like a mature adult.
It was one of the strangest changes brought by the apocalypse. Children born during this era developed at astonishing speeds.
Even infants who normally wouldn’t be expected to walk or form complete sentences had begun speaking and understanding complex conversations far earlier than expected.
Many researchers believed that drastic changes in the world’s energy had altered human development itself, forcing children to mature much faster to survive.
Danielle gently tapped the little girl’s tiny nose. “You’re thinking too much, little girl.”
She smiled gently. “Your brother is like my own brother. That means I can’t marry him.”
The little girl immediately pouted. “I thought I’d finally get a wonderful sister-in-law who could cook delicious food.”
With that, she slowly walked away. Watching her tiny figure disappear into another room, Danielle simply shook her head with an amused smile.
Meanwhile, Asher folded his arms before muttering, “Kids these days truly don’t understand anything.”
He then looked toward Danielle. “You don’t need to explain anything to me. I understand that it was all just the child’s misunderstanding.”
Danielle froze before turning toward him. “Why would I even explain anything to you?”
This time, it was Asher’s turn to freeze. “I… you wouldn’t?”
He awkwardly cleared his throat.
