Zombie Apocalypse: I Have Safe Zone Superpower

Chapter 763: Ron

Chapter 763: Chapter 763: Ron

“Logically speaking, you’re interested in me. Naturally, you’d want to explain everything so I wouldn’t misunderstand your relationship with Ron.”

Danielle stared at him for several silent seconds.

Then, she suddenly burst into laughter. “Young Lord…”

She covered her mouth while trying to suppress her laughter. “Do you seriously misunderstand my intentions that much?”

Asher blinked in confusion.

“What exactly do you mean?”

Danielle smiled politely before answering without the slightest hesitation.

“It’s actually very simple. I never planned on pursuing you. I also never planned on marrying you. So… why would I feel the need to explain anything to you?”

She gave him an apologetic smile. “I think you’ve misunderstood everything.”

With that, she stood up gracefully. “I’ll be taking my leave now.”

Without waiting for another response, she calmly walked out of the apartment. Behind her, Asher remained completely frozen.

His face slowly turned bright red as embarrassment flooded every inch of his body.

His fists tightened unconsciously.

‘She actually refused to accept?’

At that moment, he genuinely wished the ground would open beneath his feet so he could disappear forever.

‘Oh God… even if I already knew how she truly felt, did I really have to say it out loud?’

Asher let out a silent sigh.

‘Now look at her. She’s obviously embarrassed and shy, so she resorted to saying something like that just to hide her real feelings. How stubborn can this girl be?’

He couldn’t help shaking his head. ‘Seriously… this girl…’

He slowly stood up, only to notice the little girl staring at him with an indescribable expression.

Raising an eyebrow, he looked back at her. “What are you staring at?”

The little girl shook her head before replying with complete seriousness. “I’ve met shameless people before…”

She paused for dramatic effect. “But I’ve never met anyone as shameless as you.”

She folded her tiny arms across her chest. “Clearly, Sister Danielle isn’t interested in you at all.”

She clicked her tongue. “Keep dreaming.”

The moment those words entered Asher’s ears, his entire expression stiffened. The corner of his eye twitched violently.

He slowly raised a finger toward the little girl, intending to argue. However, after a brief moment of hesitation, he lowered his hand again.

‘Forget it. I’m a grown man. Arguing with a one-and-a-half-year-old child is beneath me.’

Taking a deep breath to calm himself, he silently turned around and walked away. The little girl simply watched his retreating figure.

This time, she didn’t chase after him. Instead, she quietly entered Ron’s room.

Soft afternoon sunlight filtered through the curtains, casting gentle rays over Ron’s unconscious figure lying on the bed.

Not long afterward, the healer finally arrived.

As expected, after conducting a careful examination and casting several healing techniques, Ron’s condition improved considerably.

Although he hadn’t regained consciousness yet, his breathing became steadier, and the frightening paleness on his face slowly began to fade.

The little girl carefully held Ron’s hand with both of hers. Her tiny fingers tightly wrapped around his rough palm as she lowered her head.

“Brother…”

Her voice trembled slightly. “When you recover next time… please don’t go on such dangerous missions anymore, all right?”

She sniffled softly.

“Those important people and powerful leaders can solve their own problems. I don’t want you getting hurt again…”

Meanwhile, in another part of the base, Alana was finally getting some much-needed rest.

Helping Silas during the rescue operation had consumed an enormous amount of her healing abilities.

Although she had regained consciousness, exhaustion still lingered across her delicate face.

Just then, Felix entered the room carrying a plate filled with freshly sliced fruit.

Walking over to the bedside, he sat beside Alana before picking up a piece of apple and carefully feeding it to her.

As he watched her eat, concern filled his eyes. “From now on… avoid taking on missions like that.”

Alana smiled softly. “This was the only exception.”

She looked out the window for a moment before quietly adding, “I did it for her.”

Hearing those words, Felix let out a helpless sigh. “I honestly don’t understand what Silas is thinking.”

He leaned back against the chair. “He isn’t even allowing Ivy to return to the base.”

He frowned deeply. “Once Ivy’s family finds out everything that happened, they’ll definitely punish him.”

He looked toward Alana. “Does Silas really have to go this far?”

Alana slowly shook her head. “Even I don’t know.”

She fell silent for several seconds. Then another thought surfaced. “But honestly…”

She looked at Felix. “I don’t understand Ivy either. Why was she so determined to sacrifice herself? If it hadn’t been for…”

She stopped speaking. She didn’t need to continue. Felix already knew exactly what she meant.

A week earlier, the day Ivy had left, Nora had suddenly called for an emergency meeting.

Everyone had gathered as quickly as possible.

The moment everyone arrived, Nora immediately informed them that she had used her prophetic abilities to observe the location where Ivy was heading.

More importantly, she had witnessed the place where Ivy intended to sacrifice herself.

Nora also described the horrifying vision she had seen. She had watched Ivy’s body and soul being torn apart inside the ancient array.

The moment Nora finished speaking, they immediately contacted Silas.

After all, Silas had been the one who created this special team from the very beginning.

Everything had started because Nora had foreseen fragments of the future.

Knowing those future possibilities, Silas had personally assembled a team whose abilities perfectly complemented one another, ensuring they could save Ivy at the crucial moment.

When they finally arrived at the location, everything unfolded exactly as Nora had predicted. They watched Ivy calmly step inside the massive array.

Nobody moved. Nobody stopped her. Instead, they patiently waited for the perfect opportunity.

The instant Ivy’s body slowly floated into the air and the sacrificial ritual officially began, Ron activated his ability.

Time itself froze. Not for a few seconds, but for an entire minute. During that frozen minute, every living creature across the entire Earth stopped moving.

However, accomplishing such a miracle came at an unimaginably terrifying cost. While time remained frozen, Silas immediately acted.

He brought out the clone body of Ivy that they had secretly prepared over a long period of time.

Then, using his mutated healing ability, he extracted the soul of one of the captured superior beings, one whom Ivy herself had previously captured, and placed that soul directly into Ivy’s cloned body.

The transfer was completed almost instantly. The fake Ivy remained inside the array, while the real Ivy was secretly taken away.

Even though they had intervened at the perfect moment, the ritual had already begun. A portion of Ivy’s life force had still been drained before they managed to rescue her.

Afterward, Silas immediately placed her unconscious body inside his Temporal Storage.

Once everything had settled down, Silas sincerely thanked every member who had participated in the rescue.

Ron, however, paid the greatest physical price. The moment time resumed, he collapsed. Stopping time for one minute sounded simple in theory.

In reality, freezing the flow of time across the entire planet placed an unbearable burden on his body.

The strain was so overwhelming that he fainted almost immediately after using his ability. Alana had suffered greatly as well.

Repairing Ivy’s damaged soul while simultaneously forcing an incompatible soul into another body demanded far more than ordinary healing techniques.

For a while, it even seemed as though she had permanently lost all of her healing powers.

Fortunately, after conducting several examinations, Silas reassured her.

Her abilities hadn’t disappeared. She had simply exhausted herself beyond her limits. Then there was Nora.

Repeatedly prying into Heaven’s secrets for so long had nearly drained every ounce of spiritual energy she possessed.

Even Felix hadn’t escaped unscathed. Using his abilities, he had personally reshaped Ivy’s clone until every tiny detail perfectly matched the original.

Every single member of the team had fulfilled their role. Together, they had protected Ivy.

Even so, Ivy remained unconscious for an entire week afterward. According to Silas, she had been hidden away inside an extremely secret location that nobody else knew about.

Alaan quietly broke the silence. “Alana… maybe Silas is planning something much bigger.”

Felix frowned. “What do you mean?”

Alana leaned back against the pillow. “I’ve noticed something.”

She smiled faintly. “Silas always does things that confuse everyone. But later…”

She looked toward the ceiling. “It always turns out that he was looking at the bigger picture all along.”

Felix released a slow breath. “If that’s really the case, then that’s good.”

After a brief pause, another concern surfaced. “I just wonder whether Ivy will even be able to face Silas after waking up.”

Alana chuckled quietly.

“Knowing Ivy, she’ll be drowning in guilt. But at the same time, she’ll still believe she made the correct decision.”

Felix helplessly shook his head. “If that’s true…”

He couldn’t help laughing. “Then Silas will probably be so furious that he won’t even let Ivy meet her family for the next two months.”

Alana couldn’t help laughing along.

However, only moments later, the smile gradually disappeared from her face.
