Zombie Apocalypse: I Have Safe Zone Superpower

Chapter 767: Return Of Villain

Chapter 767: Chapter 767: Return Of Villain

Today, her convoy stopped outside an abandoned office building.

The old structure leaned dangerously to one side. Cracks covered the concrete walls.

Carefully stepping over the debris, Talia entered with several soldiers.

Soon, she spotted movement. An elderly zombie lay collapsed in one corner.

His clothes were torn. Parts of his flesh had become mangled after months of wandering.

His breathing was weak and uneven. Without wasting any time, Talia immediately knelt beside him.

She gently supported his head before pouring the antidote into his mouth. Several moments passed.

Then, the old man’s body began trembling violently. Gradually, the crimson color faded from his eyes.

His breathing stabilized. Finally, Talia realized that he was actually an elderly man in his late sixties.

She carefully helped him sit upright. The old man slowly blinked several times.

His gaze remained blurry. In a hoarse, exhausted voice, he asked, “What… is happening?”

Talia smiled reassuringly.

“Sir, the apocalypse happened. You unfortunately became infected and turned into a zombie.”

She gently supported his shoulder. “Our government rescue team found you. We’ve already cured you.”

The elderly man quietly listened. After several moments, understanding slowly appeared on his face. “So…”

He weakly looked around the ruined office. “That’s what happened…”

His memories remained hazy. Everything felt like a confusing dream.

However, the moment his eyes landed on Talia, something dark stirred deep inside him.

His gaze slowly traveled across her beautiful face. An ugly feeling of lust quietly emerged within his heart.

‘What a beautiful girl; she’d probably look even prettier, if I slapped her hard enough to leave a bright red handprint across her face.’

Those disturbing fantasies silently occupied his mind. Meanwhile, Talia remained completely unaware.

She smiled politely. “Sir. We’ll be taking you back to the shelter now. Please come with us.”

Patrick slowly nodded. He deliberately reached out his hand toward her.

“If you don’t mind… I might need a little help walking.”

Before Talia could react, a soldier standing beside her stepped forward. He calmly caught Patrick’s hand instead.

His voice remained polite but carried an unmistakable warning. “Please refrain from getting too close to my girlfriend.”

He smiled faintly. “I’d appreciate it.”

Patrick’s smile stiffened for a brief second. “Y-Yeah…”

He awkwardly withdrew his thoughts. “I understand.”

With that, the soldier supported Patrick while leading him outside. During the drive back, Patrick quietly listened to their conversation.

He learned quite a few things. The world had gradually recovered.

The young soldier beside him was currently involved in a conflict with his own family and planned to change his name permanently.

Most of the information sounded unimportant. Patrick barely paid attention.

Instead, his gaze repeatedly drifted toward Talia, who sat several rows ahead.

Talia soon noticed. She subtly frowned. The old man’s eyes made her feel strangely uncomfortable.

Before she could say anything, her boyfriend suddenly spoke. “Talia.”

He smiled gently. “Why don’t you sit in the front seat? I’ll accompany this gentleman.”

Talia didn’t object. “Alright.”

Truthfully, she had already been feeling uneasy ever since Patrick regained consciousness.

Without another word, she moved to the front of the vehicle. Only then did she finally relax.

Patrick slowly turned toward the young soldier. A seemingly kind smile appeared on his face.

“Young man, what is your name?”

The soldier remained silent for a moment. “I’m actually in the process of changing it.”

He smiled. “But my new name will be Xander.”

Patrick nodded. “Alright, Xander.”

He casually continued, “So, when are you planning to marry your lovely girlfriend? I’ve actually been thinking, if possible… I’d like to adopt her as my goddaughter.”

His expression became lonely. “I’ve practically lost everyone. I don’t have anyone left.”

Naturally, everything Patrick said was a lie. He barely remembered his previous life. However, one thing was obvious.

No relatives had come searching for him. Nearly six months had passed since the apocalypse ended.

Yet no one had claimed him. That meant he either had no close family or they had long abandoned him.

Regardless, it made little difference.

His plan remained the same. He would first present himself as a gentle, lonely old man.

As for Talia, the moment he saw her, he had already chosen her as his prey.

Of course, he intended to taste that prey one day. But rushing things would only ruin everything.

First, he needed to get close to her. Gain her trust. Stay beside her.

Then, after accumulating enough influence and enough people loyal to him, he would finally make his move.

Meanwhile, Xander quietly narrowed his eyes. A faint smile remained on his face. However, his gaze had already become much sharper. “Sir.”

He calmly replied,

“You don’t have to worry about Talia. She already has loving parents.”

He continued without hesitation.

“And besides, she’s closely connected to the leader of the SiIvy Base.”

He looked directly into Patrick’s eyes.

“So why would someone like her agree to become the goddaughter of a complete stranger who possesses absolutely nothing?”

His words were surprisingly blunt. The reason was simple.

Over the past several months, Xander had encountered countless people pretending to care about Talia.

But in reality, they were only trying to exploit her kindness. In his eyes, Patrick was no different.

Hearing those words, Patrick’s eyes flickered almost imperceptibly.

‘She has connections with the SiIvy Base’s leader. That’ll make things a little troublesome.’

Soon afterward, they finally arrived at the SiIvy Base.

Like every newly rescued survivor, Patrick had to wait in line for registration.

Since he couldn’t remember his own name, the staff searched through the national database to identify him.

Several minutes passed. The employee frowned. “There aren’t any matching records.”

Patrick quietly narrowed his eyes. Neither of them realized the truth.

Patrick had once worked within one of the military’s highest confidential divisions.

His personal records had been classified under an extremely high security clearance.

As a result, ordinary registration personnel had absolutely no authority to access them.

Even after the apocalypse, Patrick’s records had been almost completely destroyed.

Most of the confidential military archives had either been erased or heavily damaged during the chaos.

As a result, there was no trace of him left in any ordinary government database.

That was also the reason why the System had never marked Patrick as a red-flag individual.

His past had been buried so deeply that even modern records failed to uncover it.

Once Patrick officially entered the SiIvy Base, he couldn’t help but stare in amazement.

The base was far more luxurious than he had imagined. Advanced defensive walls surrounded the settlement.

Solar-powered streetlights illuminated every corner, while armed patrols marched in orderly formations.

The citizens walked around with relaxed expressions instead of the fear and despair common in the outside world.

For a moment, Patrick narrowed his eyes. ‘So this is what humanity has managed to build…’

After staying in one of the military dormitories for several days, he quickly adapted to his new surroundings.

His intelligence was far superior to that of an ordinary person.

Within a short period of time, he had already figured out the hierarchy, the important personnel, and the daily operations of the base.

Soon afterward, he voluntarily approached the military headquarters.

Using his extensive experience, he proposed several battle strategies and improvements to their tactical formations.

His suggestions proved surprisingly effective. As a result, the military quickly promoted him to the position of strategist.

The stable salary and respectable status allowed him to integrate into the base much faster than anyone expected.

As time passed, Patrick gradually accumulated influence. More and more officers began trusting his judgment.

Eventually, he became powerful enough that even certain factions within the military started viewing him as someone worth opposing.

Patrick secretly felt rather proud of himself. ‘No matter what era it is…’

A smug smile appeared on his lips. ‘People always panic. And when they panic, someone like me naturally rises to the top.’

One afternoon, after leaving the military headquarters, he unexpectedly spotted a familiar figure in the distance. Talia.

The woman he had been thinking about ever since his rescue. She was walking leisurely through the street.

However, she wasn’t alone. Beside her walked another young woman. Compared to Talia, her skin was much tanner.

Her delicate facial features gave her an elegant beauty that naturally attracted attention.

The instant Patrick saw her, that familiar feeling of twisted desire quietly resurfaced.

His eyes darkened. ‘Since I couldn’t get Talia, perhaps I should start with this little beauty instead.’

Curiosity immediately drove him to ask around. Before long, he learned her identity. Danielle.

Patrick silently memorized the name. ‘One day, after I obtain enough influence, I’ll make Talia mine.’

His gaze then shifted back toward Danielle.

‘Until then… I can always have a little fun with her first.’

Satisfied with that plan, Patrick happily returned to his residence.

The atmosphere inside his apartment was quiet. He casually prepared dinner for himself. After eating, he stretched lazily before collapsing onto the bed.

The moment he closed his eyes, darkness swallowed his consciousness.

Soon, a strange dream appeared.

He found himself tightly bound by heavy iron chains.
