Danielle handed her phone to him. She was already feeling extremely dizzy, and the world around her seemed to sway slightly.
Jackson quickly dialed Asher’s number, but after waiting for several seconds, he frowned.
“For some reason, it is not connecting at all.”
Danielle’s heart sank.
Before she could respond, the weakness suddenly overwhelmed her, and her consciousness faded.
Jackson quickly caught her before she could fall.
He looked at her unconscious figure for a moment before carefully carrying her inside her own home.
Once inside Danielle’s home, Jackson placed her gently on her bed.
His plan had been simple.
There were certain loopholes he intended to exploit.
If a woman was completely intoxicated or incapacitated and something happened without her consent, there were consequences for the person responsible.
However, Jackson’s intention was to create the illusion that something had happened without actually doing anything to her.
He believed that if Danielle woke up beside him and assumed the worst, she would be emotionally devastated.
‘There is no rule against creating an illusion.’
Jackson was about to lie down beside her when the door to Danielle’s room was suddenly pushed open.
He froze.
Before he could properly react, Asher had already marched into the room.
Without hesitation, Asher grabbed Jackson and violently dragged him away from Danielle’s bed.
The sight of Danielle lying there, her face flushed from the drug and her body visibly uncomfortable, caused Asher’s expression to darken instantly.
Without saying a word, he began beating Jackson. Jackson desperately tried to protect himself.
“You cannot do this! I am Danielle’s boyfriend! Stop! Please, stop!”
Asher did not listen.
His anger had completely taken over, and he continued beating Jackson until the latter was barely able to remain conscious.
Jackson eventually began begging for forgiveness. “Please, forgive me. I made a mistake. I will never do it again.”
Asher showed no mercy.
He grabbed Jackson and dragged him out of the room before handing him over to one of the soldiers who had accompanied him.
“Take him away.”
The soldier immediately took control of Jackson.
Asher then returned to Danielle and carefully checked her clothes and condition.
When he realized that nothing had happened to her, the tension that had been gripping his body finally loosened.
He collapsed onto the ground, breathing heavily.
He had been genuinely terrified that something terrible had happened to Danielle.
Just moments earlier, he had repeatedly tried calling her, but every attempt had failed. The calls had either been cut off or had never connected in the first place.
‘They must have turned off her phone or blocked my number.’
The thought filled him with fury. Whoever had done this to Danielle would pay an enormous price.
Just as Asher was thinking about it, he heard Danielle mumble weakly.
“So hot… It is so hot…”
Hearing her strained voice, Asher’s heart ached.
He immediately contacted the healer of the base as well as a doctor, hoping that they could administer an antidote and relieve her suffering.
When the doctor arrived, he carefully examined Danielle.
After checking the substance circulating through her body, his expression became serious.
“This aphrodisiac is extremely potent. If she does not receive the appropriate treatment, she could suffer serious side effects.”
Asher’s fists clenched. He immediately decided to seek help from his sister-in-law.
He went to Ivy and explained everything that had happened.
Ivy’s expression darkened.
“Such an aphrodisiac exists inside my base? It looks like I have truly, truly been too lenient.”
She immediately retrieved an antidote from her temporal storage and handed it to Asher.
“Give this to her.”
Asher quickly returned to Danielle and carefully administered the antidote.
After some time, Danielle’s breathing gradually became steadier, and the heat spreading through her body began to subside.
The doctor watched the change with astonishment.
He was so surprised that he almost asked Ivy for the formula of the antidote. However, when he saw Asher’s deeply worried expression, he immediately reconsidered.
‘If I ask him about it right now, I might be the next person he beats.’
Asher stood up and looked coldly toward his soldiers.
“Go and find out who was behind this.”
The soldiers immediately nodded.
Meanwhile, Aqua, who had informed Asher about Danielle’s situation, was standing outside Danielle’s house with a worried expression.
When she had received Danielle’s call, she had actually been in her bathroom.
However, the urgency in Danielle’s voice had immediately made her realize that something serious had happened.
Without wasting any time, Aqua had rushed toward Asher’s place.
Fortunately, Aqua possessed a teleportation ability, allowing her to travel an enormous distance almost instantly.
She had arrived at Asher’s apartment and quickly informed him about Danielle’s desperate call.
After hearing everything, Asher had used Aqua’s teleportation ability to reach Danielle’s location.
At first, they went to the restaurant where Danielle had supposedly been attacked.
However, after asking several people nearby, they learned that Danielle had been taken away from the restaurant by a man.
Asher immediately suspected Jackson.
The two of them followed the trail and eventually reached Jackson’s location.
After questioning the people nearby, they discovered that Jackson had taken Danielle away and brought her back to Danielle’s own home.
Asher was deeply worried and immediately arrived there, leaving Aqua outside while he rushed inside.
Aqua stood there anxiously, her hands clasped tightly together as she desperately wished that Danielle would be all right. She did not want Danielle to be hurt this badly, especially after everything that had happened.
Just as she was thinking about it, one of the soldiers noticed Aqua and walked toward her. “Thank you for your contribution. Our boss will reward you later.”
Aqua’s eyes immediately brightened with interest. ‘Reward? That sounds good.’
However, she quickly suppressed the excitement on her face and shook her head. “All right, I understand.”
The soldier was amused by the fact that Aqua was clearly an opportunistic person. The way her expression had brightened at the mention of a reward before she immediately tried to act indifferent was almost hilarious.
The next morning, Danielle woke up with a splitting headache. Her temples throbbed painfully, and for several seconds, she could barely remember where she was.
As she slowly looked around, her heart suddenly skipped a beat. The last thing she remembered was Jackson bringing her inside the house.
At that time, she had genuinely been worried that he would try to make her believe something had happened between them. Thankfully, however, he had not actually done anything to her.
When she noticed Asher sitting beside her, a wave of gratitude immediately filled her heart. ‘At least Jackson had tried to contact Asher for me. Perhaps he really did not intend to hurt me.’
When Asher noticed that Danielle was awake, he immediately leaned toward her and carefully checked her condition. “How are you feeling now?”
Danielle smiled weakly. “I am fine. Do not worry about me. Where is Jackson? I would like to thank him.”
Asher’s expression instantly turned cold.
“Thank him for what? Forget about that for now. Get well first, and then we will talk about him.”
Danielle clearly noticed the change in his expression, but she did not ask further questions. After she had completely recovered, however, she eventually learned the entire story.
She became furious when she found out what Jackson had been planning, but at the same time, she felt genuinely grateful toward Aqua.
‘At least that girl did not betray me at the last moment.’
Once Danielle had fully recovered, she looked toward Asher and asked, “Why could I not get through to you that night?”
Asher sighed.
“What kind of ridiculous bad luck did I encounter that day? My phone battery died. It was genuinely strange because I clearly remember charging my phone.”
Danielle frowned. “Do you think Angel might have employed some kind of outside help?”
Asher shook his head.
“I do not know. But honestly, if she can plan something like this, she should have joined the planning department. With a scheming mind like hers, she would probably have risen to a much higher position.”
Danielle could not help laughing at his words, although she was still furious about Angel’s actions and Jackson’s involvement.
Thankfully, both of them were taken into custody. They were thoroughly interrogated before being judged according to their crimes, and eventually, they were sentenced to prison.
Danielle was relieved to know that the people responsible for what had happened to her would not simply walk away without consequences.
‘At least that matter has finally been dealt with.’
However, just when she thought all the drama was finally over, another problem appeared.
Jackson’s parents arrived outside her door and immediately began making a scene.
