Zombie Apocalypse: I Have Safe Zone Superpower

Chapter 807: Edeline's Schemes

Chapter 807: Chapter 807: Edeline’s Schemes

Their angry voices echoed through the corridor, attracting the attention of nearby people.

“Danielle, you bitch! Come out! It was you! You were the one who put both of our sons behind bars!”

When Danielle heard the shouting, she exchanged a glance with Asher.

Their first instinct was that Jackson’s parents had come to cause trouble.

Soon, the two of them stepped outside and saw Jackson’s parents standing there, their faces twisted with anger.

The moment Jackson’s parents saw Danielle, they rushed toward her.

“You bitch! Come with us and withdraw your statement! You have to get our son out of prison. Otherwise, things will not be good for you!”

Jackson’s father was even more aggressive. He pointed directly at Danielle and shouted,

“If you do not do what we are asking you to do, then just wait and watch how we ruin your life completely. You will regret ever crossing paths with us!”

Danielle was stunned. This was an unmistakable threat. She quietly waited for the rules of the base to react.

Nothing happened. Danielle frowned.

‘That is strange.’

Usually, the base should have responded as long as a threat was genuinely dangerous. If the system had intervened and teleported them away, it would have meant that the threat was real. Yet nothing had happened.

She decided not to dwell on it and looked calmly at Jackson’s parents.

“I understand that both of you might be feeling devastated because of what happened to your son, but that does not give you the right to come here and blame the person who was harmed when your child was the one who crossed the line first.”

For a moment, Jackson’s mother laughed coldly.

“That is a very good way of deflecting the issue. But you know what? You might think that you are a smart person, Danielle, but you left behind all the proof yourself.”

She pulled out several letters and thrust them toward Danielle’s face.

By this point, several people had gathered around them, drawn by the commotion. Danielle frowned as she realized that if the argument became any louder, even more people might start paying attention to the matter.

She looked at Jackson’s parents and spoke calmly.

“If you continue making such a scene, things will only become more difficult for you. After all, it was your child who was in the wrong first.”

Jackson’s parents finally stepped back slightly.

They fell silent.

Danielle picked up one of the letters and examined it carefully.

“What the fuck is this?”

The letters contained messages describing a deep obsession with Jackson, including statements claiming that if she didn’t get together with Jackson, she would eventually try to frame him.

And now, something remarkably similar had happened.

She had not gotten together with Jackson, and Jackson was currently behind bars.

‘Who can guarantee that these supposed threats were actually written by me?’

Danielle looked at Jackson’s parents and spoke firmly. “Trust me, I did not write these letters.”

Jackson’s parents gave a bitter laugh.

“Does it matter? As long as you let our son out, we do not care whether you actually wrote these letters or not.”

Danielle immediately understood what they wanted. They had not come here to negotiate.

They had come because they wanted their son released, regardless of whether the evidence against him was legitimate.

Danielle calmly threw the letter back toward them.

“I am sorry, but I will not let him out. If I do that, I will be the one who suffers the most.”

Hearing those words, Jackson’s mother became furious and was about to say something when the sharp sound of clicking heels echoed. A group of people soon appeared in front of Danielle.

When Danielle saw them, she was rendered speechless.

Leading the group was a beautiful, well-dressed woman adorned with expensive-looking jewelry.

Her hair was styled perfectly, and not a single strand seemed out of place.

In the middle of the post-apocalyptic world, where most people were struggling just to obtain decent clothes, her appearance was remarkably extravagant.

‘She looks as though she has never experienced a shortage of resources.’

From the way she was dressed and the people accompanying her, it was obvious that she had considerable backing. Danielle could not help wondering whether some powerful man was supporting her lifestyle.

Just as she was thinking this, she heard the woman speak. “You must be the one who filed a complaint against my little daughter, right? Withdraw it immediately.”

Danielle frowned. “Are you talking about Angel?”

She could hardly imagine anyone so wealthy and sophisticated being related to her enemy.

The woman nodded.

“Yes. I am Angel’s mother. I am not even planning to hold you accountable for everything you have made my daughter go through. I am simply asking you to withdraw the complaint. That is the extent of the leniency I am willing to show you.”

Danielle laughed softly, though there was no amusement in her eyes.

“It sounds as though you are doing me some kind of favor, but the reality is quite different.”

With that, she calmly recounted everything that had happened, from Angel’s schemes to the incident involving Jackson.

When she finished, Jackson’s parents looked stunned, but they quickly recovered and began defending their son.

“So what? People manipulate each other a little. Is there really a need to take everything so seriously?”

Danielle’s expression became colder. ‘They really have no sense of right and wrong.’

Meanwhile, Edeline remained surprisingly nonchalant.

“If you refuse to help me get my Angel back, then I will have no choice but to go to Asher’s mother and speak with him. Asher’s mother is my best friend, and she will certainly understand my circumstances. If you want to create a negative impression in front of your future mother-in-law, then so be it.”

She paused before adding with a faint smile, “However, if you help me this time, I assure you that I will be the person who supports you the most in the future.”

Danielle clenched her fist.

“That is certainly a good offer, but trust me, I genuinely do not have the time to play mind games with you. How about this? You can go and talk to Asher yourself, since Asher is the one who had your daughter imprisoned in the first place.”

Edeline’s expression immediately darkened. She stepped forward and intended to slap Danielle across the face.

But Danielle backed away easily and warned, “Don’t cross the line, otherwise I will have to become ruthless.”

Edeline glared at her. “I genuinely do not understand what that boy sees in you. You are nothing but a piece of black wood.”

With that, she turned around and walked away, her heels clicking sharply against the floor.

Jackson’s parents immediately began laughing.

“Finally, someone said the truth to your face. You are a nobody, so you should at least have some self-awareness.”

Danielle smiled faintly. “I have self-awareness. You should be the ones who develop some.”

With that, she turned around, returned to her house, and firmly closed the door behind her. Once inside, Danielle leaned against the door for a moment and slowly exhaled.

‘Could Asher’s mother really be influenced by Angel’s mother?’

If that happened, things could become troublesome. Meanwhile, Edeline was already thinking several steps ahead.

She was much smarter than simply going directly to Asher’s mother and making demands. Instead, she carefully checked Eliza’s schedule and decided to create a series of natural encounters.

Even though anxiety gnawed at her throughout the process, she patiently waited for four days before approaching Alice.

Alice, meanwhile, was out buying some fresh fruit when she unexpectedly encountered Edeline.

For a moment, Alice did not even recognize her. Edeline immediately widened her eyes and exclaimed enthusiastically, “Oh my God, is that you, Alice?”

Alice looked at her with a faint frown. “And you are?”

The woman quickly laughed. “You do not remember me? I am Angel’s mother, Edeline.”

The moment she heard the name Edeline, a trace of recognition appeared in Alice’s eyes.

“Oh, it is you, Edeline. It has been such a long time. What are you doing here? Have you moved here as well?”

Edeline nodded. “Yes, I moved here recently.”

Alice smiled politely. “Good for you. This place is much more stable. We should catch up properly when we have some time.”

Edeline nodded, even though she was practically bursting with anxiety. ‘Please ask me more questions. Give me an opportunity to talk to you.’

However, she maintained a pleasant expression and did not reveal any of her thoughts.

For the next few days, Edeline deliberately arranged several more “accidental” meetings with Alice. Each time, she kept the conversation casual and allowed their old friendship to gradually resurface.
