Silas clenched his fists.
He wanted to tell her that there was no way he would ever continue living if she died before him.
However, he ultimately said nothing.
He simply nodded.
Afterward, Ivy and Silas finally came out for breakfast.
Everyone else was already awake.
Jade was talking about something when he noticed Ivy and Silas holding each other’s hands tightly.
He did not comment on it.
Instead, he silently pushed the rice porridge toward them.
“Drink up. We need to build our strength.”
After finishing the rice porridge, Ivy looked toward Jade.
“So, what have you decided?”
Jade calmly answered, “I have already devised a plan. We simply need few of us to head west and gather information about Princess Catherine. Once we have enough information, everything should become much easier.”
Ivy nodded.
Soon, everyone left.
Ivy remained behind inside the Temporal Storage.
She was genuinely not in a condition to move around much.
As the days passed, she found herself becoming increasingly lethargic, and even walking for a short distance sometimes felt like an enormous task.
Therefore, everyone advised her to stay behind and rest.
With nothing else to do, Ivy decided to explore the inside of Silas’s Temporal Storage.
She already knew that the temporal storage contained a large amount of ammunition, so she wanted to see whether there was anything inside that could prove useful against the superior beings.
After exploring for quite some time, however, Ivy realized that most of the ammunition was designed for humans rather than beings like them.
They might be highly effective against ordinary humans, but against superior beings, their usefulness was extremely limited.
Ivy suddenly thought of warning Silas.
‘If this Temporal Storage ever falls into the hands of those superior beings, then the only thing waiting for Earth could be complete annihilation.’
The thought made her expression turn serious.
When she thought about Earth, she suddenly wondered what might be happening there while they were trapped on Planet Astra.
Meanwhile, Jay looked at Ember with a frown.
Ember, on the other hand, crossed her arms over her chest and stared at him sternly.
Jay quickly raised his hands in surrender.
“Ember, you are truly misunderstanding me. Do you honestly think I am the kind of person who would flirt around behind your back?”
Ember narrowed her eyes.
“That is exactly the problem. I do not think you would do that, but it is always the husbands who promise that they would never cheat who eventually end up doing it.”
Jay’s lips twitched.
Rather than feeling irritated, he was actually somewhat amused. This was the first time Ember had shown such obvious possessiveness toward him, and a small part of him found it strangely enjoyable.
However, what he truly did not enjoy was seeing how insecure she had become.
‘This is all because of that woman, Perry.’
Recently, a woman named Perry had appeared and started hovering around him constantly.
At first, Jay had tried his best to remain patient. He repeatedly guided her around the laboratory and showed her how various things worked, assuming that she was simply an inexperienced researcher who needed assistance.
However, Perry seemed to have misunderstood his kindness, or perhaps she had deliberately chosen to misunderstand it from the beginning.
She gradually began dropping subtle hints.
Jay ignored every single one.
He even made it very clear that he was married and had a child with his wife, hoping that she would finally understand and maintain an appropriate distance.
Unfortunately, Perry did not seem to understand his warnings at all.
She continued appearing around him.
Eventually, the situation became so irritating that Jay directly requested the director to remove Perry from the laboratory.
However, he had not expected to discover that Perry held an extremely high position and was also remarkably knowledgeable.
Because of that, Jay could not help frowning when he looked toward the dean.
“Then why does she keep coming to me for such small things? I almost thought she was some idiotic junior who had never read the laboratory rules and had simply walked into our lab without permission.”
The dean’s lips twitched slightly.
“That is a rather harsh evaluation, but I will keep it in mind. I will also warn her to maintain a proper distance from you.”
Hearing that, Jay nodded.
“That would be the best solution for everyone.”
With that, he turned around and began walking away.
However, the dean suddenly stopped him.
“Jay, I have an opportunity for you.”
Jay frowned and turned around.
The dean continued, “Right now, everyone is focused on developing more cures for mutated zombies. However, rather than going down that path, I would suggest that you consider something different.”
Hearing those words, Jay looked at him with curiosity.
The dean calmly walked toward a cabinet, opened one of its drawers, and pulled out several documents.
He handed them to Jay.
“Read these before you make any decision.”
Jay lowered his gaze and began reading.
As he went through the documents, surprise slowly appeared in his eyes.
According to the reports, he had been given the opportunity to join an advanced research team consisting of only a handful of exceptionally talented researchers.
Their primary responsibility would be to develop a replication-ability potion.
As long as someone drank the potion and absorbed a specific type of zombie crystal, they would temporarily awaken the corresponding ability for several hours.
The more Jay read, the more he understood how enormous the potential of this research could be.
He immediately looked up.
“Who has already joined the team?”
The dean answered without hesitation.
“So far, Perry has joined.”
The moment Jay heard Perry’s name, his expression darkened.
“Dean, I will need some time to make a decision.”
The dean waved his hand casually.
“Take your time.”
Jay nodded and left the room.
However, the moment he stepped outside, he found Perry already waiting there.
She immediately approached him.
“Jay, please say yes. If you say no, I will genuinely be heartbroken. You do not know that I specifically transferred here from another branch just to find you.”
Jay finally reached the limit of his patience.
“I do not fucking care whether you have an ulterior motive or genuinely like me. I already have a wife, and I am not interested in you at all.”
Perry froze.
A strange emotion flickered across her face as she stared at him.
“Strange, why are you…”
Jay frowned.
“What are you talking about?”
Perry eventually seemed to give up on trying to convince him and walked away.
Jay assumed that she had finally understood and would stop bothering him.
Who would have thought that she had not given up at all?
That very same day, Perry walked up to Ember, who had just arrived at the building.
The two of them stopped in front of each other.
Ember frowned as she examined the unfamiliar woman.
“Yes, who are you?”
Perry smiled.
“I am Jay’s girlfriend.”
The moment those words left her mouth, Ember’s attention was immediately captured.
She stared at Perry for several seconds before letting out a mocking laugh.
“What a stupid thing to say just to gain my attention. However, now that you have said it, you had better prove it. Otherwise, I will have my guards deal with you once and for all.”
Perry raised an eyebrow.
“Wow, this is interesting. You and your husband really do have the same reaction when someone tries to get close to him.”
Ember’s expression changed.
“What do you mean? He slept with you? When? How? Where?”
Perry chuckled.
“You do not need to know the details. You only need to know that I am pregnant with his child.”
She stepped closer and smiled provocatively.
“If you truly have even an ounce of shame, or if your husband has even an ounce of shame, you should divorce him and hand him over to me.”
Ember laughed so angrily that she instinctively raised her hand, ready to slap Perry.
However, she stopped herself at the last moment.
Her fingers slowly relaxed, and she lowered her hand.
She looked at Perry with an almost amused expression.
“Very good. You truly have a talent for rage-baiting.”
With that, Ember turned around and continued walking inside.
Perry watched her leave with a deep frown.
“Strange, why did she not continue arguing? Why did she not behave like a jealous wife? Instead, she acted as though she did not care about Jay at all.”
She remained silent for a moment before narrowing her eyes.
‘It looks like I need to tell Jay about this.’
That was how the entire situation eventually reached Jay.
