Chapter 836: Rayami's Visit

Chapter 836: Chapter 836: Rayami’s Visit

She paused, and her expression became serious.

“As long as you do not ask us to rebel against the royal family, our family is willing to help you.”

Hearing those words, Ivy simply smiled without saying anything.

Soon, they returned with the bowl of noodles. The moment Catherine saw it, her eyes lit up.

She immediately took the bowl from Ivy without giving her even a chance to explain anything about the laboratory report.

She eagerly picked up the chopsticks and began eating.

There was no concern on her face about whether the laboratory report had been good or bad. At that moment, all she cared about was the food.

Once she had finished every last bite, she leaned back against the bed and patted her stomach contentedly.

“Finally, that was delicious. I feel as though I can sleep peacefully for the first time in ages.”

With that, Catherine closed her eyes and quickly drifted off to sleep.

Eugenia and Valer stared at her in complete silence.

They had never imagined that their mother would one day become such a devoted foodie.

Both of them eventually turned toward Ivy. “Let’s have a talk.”

Later, Ivy, Eugenia, and Valer sat together in the living room.

Valer looked at Ivy with a serious expression.

“Who exactly are you? I have been investigating you constantly, but I could not find even the slightest trace of your identity.”

He leaned forward slightly.

“I have started to suspect that you might be from another planet and came here specifically because you need our help. Is that the case?”

His expression suggested that he was almost certain he had figured everything out.

Ivy shook her head.

“You cannot simply conclude that I am here to attack this planet.”

Hearing those words, Eugenia and Valer relaxed slightly.

If Ivy was not planning to attack Astra, perhaps they could still help her.

Of course, they were not willing to offer unlimited assistance.

However, the next words from Ivy made both of them freeze.

“I am here to take the throne.”

An eerie silence immediately filled the room.

Eugenia slowly stood up and pointed toward Ivy.

“Miss, I would like to clarify one thing. We are not going to rebel against the royal family. At most, we will pretend that we never heard you say those words, so please leave now.”

Ivy shook her head and leaned back comfortably.

The interior of this superior-being household was truly fascinating.

The furniture was soft and comfortable, similar to what she had seen on Earth, but almost everything possessed a futuristic design.

The walls were made of a smooth material that subtly changed its texture depending on the lighting, while the windows automatically adjusted their transparency to keep the room at a comfortable temperature.

Even the chandelier above them was not a real chandelier.

Instead, a projection device created an incredibly realistic image of one, making it appear as though an elegant crystal chandelier hung from the ceiling. Tiny projected lights shimmered like crystals whenever someone moved beneath them.

There were also several other features that Ivy found interesting.

The tables could display floating screens without requiring any physical device, the sofa automatically adjusted its softness according to the person’s weight, and the floor remained warm despite the cool air circulating through the room.

Ivy looked toward Eugenia.

“Well, there is something else. I might actually be your cousin.”

The moment she finished speaking, Valer and Eugenia exchanged glances.

Neither of them dared to dismiss Ivy’s words.

They had already realized that Ivy was not someone who casually made claims without reason.

After a brief discussion, they asked for a sample of Ivy’s hair.

Ivy handed it over without hesitation.

The siblings immediately sent it for a DNA test.

Not long afterward, the results arrived.

When Eugenia and Valer looked at the report, they fell completely silent.

There was no joy in their expressions.

Instead, they seemed to understand that Ivy had most likely helped them because she wanted their support in the competition for the throne.

Valer took a deep breath before looking at Ivy.

“Ivy, I understand that you want to take the throne, but we made a promise to the King that we would never betray him.”

Ivy nodded calmly.

“Well, I am his child. If you help me ascend to the throne, then you are not actually betraying him.”

Valer remained silent for a moment before shaking his head.

“No. I am saying that your DNA only has, at most, seventy percent resemblance to the King’s. Not to mention that you were born without his permission.”

He paused, his expression becoming complicated.

“I have already told you about your origins. That is why I am even more hesitant to support you. I do not want my current family, the family I have spent years protecting, to suffer because of this.”

Ivy looked at him seriously.

“If you refuse to help me ascend the throne, then all of your other cousins will eventually look at your mother like a piece of fat meat.”

Her voice became colder. “They may go as far as trying to kill her.”

Valer’s expression changed.

He was about to respond when one of the maids suddenly rushed into the room.

“Princess Rayami is here.”

The moment Ivy heard the name, her entire body tensed.

Eugenia and Valer exchanged a quick glance before turning toward Ivy.

“How about this? You should hide first. We will talk to her.”

Ivy nodded.

She did not argue or waste any more time.

She quickly left the room and disappeared from sight.

A few moments later, Princess Rayami entered the residence.

Rayami appeared in front of Eugenia and Valer with a bright smile on her face.

“It has been such a long time, cousins. We should truly go out together sometime.”

With that, she perked up and moved forward as though she intended to hug them.

However, Eugenia and Valer calmly stepped backward.

They had initially been sitting on the sofa, and when Rayami entered, they had stood up out of courtesy. The moment she tried to approach them, however, both of them simply sat back down.

Rayami’s hands awkwardly remained suspended in the air. She forced a faint smile onto her face before withdrawing them.

“Since you two are not fond of intimacy, I will not force you.”

She then walked toward the sofa opposite them and sat down. The moment she settled into the seat, her expression stiffened slightly.

A faint, unfamiliar fragrance lingered in the air. Rayami subconsciously sniffed.

“Did you have a guest here before I arrived?”

As she asked the question, her eyes began sweeping across the room, as though she were trying to locate whoever had left the scent behind.

She even suspected that one of her siblings might have arrived before her, but neither Eugenia nor Valer displayed the slightest expression suggesting that they were hiding something.

Eugenia calmly looked at her.

“Rayami, whatever you came here to say, just say it and leave. We are genuinely not in the mood to host anyone right now. Our mother is gravely ill, and yet you are sitting here making casual conversation.”

Rayami immediately waved her hands.

“Oh my God, it seems you have misunderstood me. I came here because of Aunt Catherine. I am genuinely worried about her health.”

She stood up and smiled. “Can you lead me to her? I would like to see her at least once.”

Eugenia and Valer exchanged a brief glance before forcing polite smiles. “Of course.”

They stood and calmly led Rayami toward Catherine’s room.

Once they arrived outside the door, Eugenia knocked three times.

Inside the room, Catherine immediately heard the knocks.

She quickly placed the empty bowl aside and wiped her mouth, even though there was not a single trace of food left inside the bowl.

In fact, it was so clean that no one would have guessed that food had ever been inside it.

Catherine hurriedly lay back down on the bed and closed her eyes, pretending to be asleep.

The door opened. The moment Rayami entered, she instinctively sniffed the air.

Her body suddenly froze. She immediately turned toward Eugenia.

“Wait a minute. Did you order food from the nearby restaurant?”

Eugenia frowned slightly before giving a faint nod. “Yes.”

She deliberately did not offer any further explanation.

Rayami’s expression gradually became cold.

In reality, she had originally planned to visit Princess Catherine much earlier.

However, she had recently learned about a mysterious restaurant that had suddenly appeared in the city.

The restaurant served actual food that could be digested by superior beings.
