Although Rio had no idea how Ellie managed to make it through this dense miasma when even Rio was having difficulty walking forward in this unstable landscape, he kept moving forward.

’Perhaps the spatial cracks were less wide and less powerful than now?...’

Eillie likely passed through this place several hundred years ago, and it was possible that the geography of the area might have changed a lot in such a long time.

’I need to bypass these cracks and rifts...’

Those gigantic miasmic cracks and rifts in the space-time fabric were acting like a barrier preventing anyone from knowing what was located behind them.

But Rio could see and sense the presence of something very ’unique’ from the small intact areas of the space-time fabric connecting to the area hidden from sight.

It was possible to temporarily fix some of the space-time fabric and bypass the barrier of miasmic cracks, but that would likely cause a lot of backlashes from miasma, and it might try to stop Rio.

Thus, Rio first thought of trying to bypass a barrier by going around it and entering from some other direction.

But to his surprise, the entire area of hundreds of kilometers was enclosed by the miasmic rifts and cracks from all directions like a cage!

’This is my first time seeing such a powerful cage... a cage made out of literal spatial cracks and miasmic corruption...’

Rio couldn’t help but feel the need to copy this amazing structure and add it into his own skill arsenal.

All around the giant cage of spatial cracks was land covered in thick layers of miasmic crystals and dense miasmic fog, which made visibility almost zero.

Rio could sense that even the elementals, the building blocks of this world, were heavily suppressed and were present in very minute amounts; most of the area was just miasma and corruption.

’This place has so much miasma that it can corrupt or kill an early SS-ranker in just a few minutes!’

Miasma itself is one of the strongest ’laws’ of the world, and it is capable of suppressing the ’world authorities’ of even SS-rankers when in such high density.

’Although I am not affected by it, my sword intent surely has been suppressed a lot in this place... unless of course I use miasma as the power source itself...’

’If I use miasma as the power source for my attacks, they would be boosted in this place...’

After circling the entirety of several kilometers of circular area, Rio confirmed that there was no opening to this cage from any direction; there were spatial cracks even underground, let alone in the air.

So, Rio had no choice but to start considering how to penetrate this huge cage without creating too much disturbance so as to not attract unwanted attention from random powerful beings lurking around in the area.

Rio knew that due to the high density of miasma in this place, powerful evil spirits and monsters were lurking in this area, and most of them were completely insane and deranged.

They might attack anything that moves, and Rio didn’t have the time to get entangled with them right now.

’I guess I would use the new skills that I learned while escaping the shadow dragon rampage then...’

Rio swung his flute toward the miasmic rifts with barely any force.

Rio’s control over miasma had become so strong in the past month that he could now use miasma in the surroundings to affect the space-time fabric and use it to his advantage.

Miasma was already able to suppress the ’laws’ of the ’world’ inside the spirit realm to its liking, and it could cause any kind of bizarre phenomena it wanted to create.

Rio used that ability of miasma to his advantage.

With his insanely powerful control over miasma and corruption, Rio fooled the ’laws’ of the ’world’ in the spirit realm, tricking it temporarily to make those miasmic rifts disappear for a single millisecond using their own energy!

Anything and everything that is closely associated with miasma can be influenced by Rio as long as the thing or individual he’s trying to influence is not stronger than himself.

With Rio being an intermediate S-ranker, those miasmic rifts were not too much trouble to him, and in fact, they were weaker compared to the rifts in the outside world, as the space-time fabric was weaker in the spirit realm.

That one-millisecond gap was long enough for Rio, and he managed to use the spatial manipulation to do a space jump and pass right through the defenses of that massive cage of spatial cracks.

Even SS rankers would have found it difficult to do what Rio had done in this miasma-filled environment.

He could access places that even SS-rankers couldn’t; he was truly unstoppable in the spirit realm.

The moment Rio passed through the barrier of miasmic cracks, he found himself standing on a vast grassland.

Above him was a vast and clear blue sky, and there was green lush grass on the ground as far as the eye could see.

Rio could see birds flying around and chirping; there were several trees around in the distance, but the most eye-catching one was a big tree located not too far from Rio.

Below that giant tree was a beautiful lady sitting with her back leaned against the trunk of that giant tree.

The warm wind breeze made her grayish-black hair sway with the air, and her dark black dress added even more charm to her already beautiful face.

A dark crown rested on her head, making her look like a noble queen unfazed and untainted by the filth of the mortal world.

As if noticing Rio’s presence, she opened her eyes, and her greenish, serpent-like pupils shone like rare gems as she looked at him.

"You really took your sweet time to come here... I have been waiting for you for months, you know..."

Although she was giving off a cold and distant aura, her words seemed to carry resentment, relief, annoyance, anger, and happiness all at the same time.

It seemed that she was happy and relieved that Rio finally arrived, but she was also angry and annoyed that it took Rio so long to make it here; Rio’s emotionless face made her feel even more resentful.

"I thought you would take at most two or three months, but it’s been nearly a year, you know!"

Rio was first confused, as he had never seen this tall, beautiful lady before but after seeing those familiar greenish serpentine eyes, Rio finally opened his mouth and asked,

"Is that you, Ellie?... err... You sure grew up fast in just a few months... Does being a faulty dragon also cause problems with the normal age cycles of a dragon? that’s kind of odd..."

"This is quite a weird phenomenon... wait, now that I think about it... you were able to always transform your body; I almost forgot about that!..."

Rio rarely ever focused on any other girl except for Lia; to him, only Lia was the one he needed to care about. He had the habit of automatically filtering out other women from his eyesight while avoiding them all perfectly.

Ellie and Liam were into each other, and as a friend, Rio maintained his boundaries and never asked Liam too much about Ellie or got too involved with her, as she had nothing to do with him mostly.
