Chapter 702: A Lost ’Traveler’ in a Forgotten World. Part-4.
Fade couldn’t understand what that old half-orc spoke to the other one, but for some reason, his life was spared, and he wasn’t killed on the spot.
Instead, the gigantic orc dragged Fade out of the cave with his powerful telekinesis, and the old orc followed behind them.
As Fade was dragged out, he realized that he was actually inside a gigantic ancient ruin.
The ancient ruin was a single building stretched far and wide to the horizon; the wear and tear of the past had eroded it and destroyed most of its structure, but there were still some pieces of walls and broken debris scattered everywhere.
There were big rocky hills all around the entire ruin, covering it from all directions like impenetrable walls.
The sky still had the same five suns shining brightly.
’I am still in this desert-like place... is this an orc settlement?’
There were five suns in the sky, so this was likely not the same planet or solar system as his original one, but this place resembled the orc empire’s geography quite a lot, so Fade thought that perhaps he was inside some kind of dungeon related to orcs or the orc kingdom.
Although Fade wanted to know about the situation and wanted to communicate, the half-orcs didn’t seem to understand his words at all and kept ignoring him no matter how much he wailed or begged for mercy.
They dragged him through the sandy ground like trash as many other half-orcs that were originally going through their own business stared at Fade with surprised but excited looks on their faces.
As the gigantic orc dragged Fade towards the central area of the ruins, dozens of other orcs joined the humiliation parade as they stared at Fade and kept tailing behind excitedly.
The giant orc and the old orc didn’t stop the other orcs from tailing them, so Fade was also helpless to do anything about it.
Some naughty orc children even threw their wooden toys or rocks at him, but thankfully those kids were just ordinary beings and not awakeners, so the rocks were harmless to him.
If it were usual, Fade would have definitely glared at those kids and shouted at the top of his lungs his usual slur, which was ’Just you wait! Once I become stronger, I will beat you all!’
But today, things were not the same anymore.
He knew that he was not the so-called ’Chosen One’ anymore, as his system was crippled and his path to strength was severed.
Fade originally was just a meek and cowardly guy with talent barely enough to even be considered a real awakener.
The system helped him enhance his talent time and time again using ’Exp,’ but now that the system was crippled, he had no way to enhance his talent anymore, and he was basically stuck at the early stage of rank B forever!
All skills he had learned until now were mastered through the help of the system, and the system was the one that helped him use them.
Usually mages learn new spells and powers by researching spell circuits and learning to form specific spell circles of various different spells, but Fade had no need to follow such traditional methods at all.
Throughout his career as a mage, Fade just had to click the ’+’ sign on his magic mastery option, and by spending a specific amount of ’Exp,’ he could easily learn and unlock any kind of spell he wanted!
Fade himself never researched or learned a single spell by himself, and as explained earlier, the so-called ’Exp’ of his system is just stolen destinies of others.
Once his system was crippled and his link with heavenly luck was severed, all those stolen destinies went out of control.
Some escaped, some became chaotic, and most of them disappeared completely as they lost their support from the heavenly luck.
In other words, all the skills and spells that Fade had learned through his system became practically useless as he literally forgot most of his own spells and attacks right away!
At this point he was just a B-ranker in name only; he had no actual combat capability and only knew some weak basic magic at most!
B-rankers have a strong physique compared to ordinary beings, but everyone knows that base stats alone are never enough in this world.
Skills, techniques, buffs, talents, artifacts, etc.. all these things matter much more than base stats alone!
A person with 99 base stats in the strength attribute can still lose to somebody with barely even half of that base stat if the other party has some kind of power skill.
And if legendary skills are added in the equation, even someone with barely even a single-digit strength base stat can defeat someone with a 99 strength base stat!
That’s just how much skills and talents matter in this world!
...
"ORor rorotoo ororo!"
While Fade was busy lamenting his fate, the giant orc dragged him to the central area of the massive ruin.
The central area was a massive open space with a gigantic altar situated in the middle of it.
There were five different statues situated all around the giant altar.
One statue was a massive sword, which had carvings of a star, a supernova, and a black hole on it.
The second statue was a gladiator’s gauntlet with carvings of flowing cosmic rhythm carved on it.
The third statue was a wand that was carved with such precision and mastery that it looked like it was a wooden staff despite being carved from stone.
The fourth statue was a bow whose arrow had the symbol of infinity (∞) carved on it.
Finally, there was the fifth statue, which was a massive crown that had a pattern of stars and galaxies carved on it.
"Wha... what is this place!?"
Fade had never seen anything like this before; the scene was too bizarre, and due to the fact that Alverto had also tortured him before and had nailed him to an altar too, Fade had PTSD against altars now.
The moment he saw an altar, his body started shivering uncontrollably, and he refused to move forward, but to his bad luck, the powerful telekinesis of the giant orc was something he could not disobey at all.
He was dragged forward without mercy.
