Chapter 787: Heading Home. Part-1.

After helping the Beast Archipelago deal with miasmic corruption and various other problems for a while, Rio and the rest of the group decided to head home earlier than originally planned.

Ashtel had already urged them to get going several times by now, as he wanted them to go back and help deal with the trouble that had happened back home instead of wasting time in a foreign land.

Rio and the others felt obliged to help, as they were already here and no one knew when they would ever be able to return again in the future.

As people with immense talent, the stronger they grew, the more responsibilities they would have to shoulder in the future, and sooner or later they would be too busy to go on vacations like now.

Even if they had to travel the world for healing the damage done by the demon armies in this incident, it would still take months before the turn of the beast archipelago would come and they would be able to come here again.

By then, the damage would become even more difficult to deal with.

Thankfully, in the past thousand years, the demon race hasn’t been causing major invasions; otherwise, a major portion of the world would have become completely unlivable.

During the thousand-year war, the world had Astra to deal with the aftermath of the wars; after that, there was no one who could deal with miasmic corruption for almost a thousand years.

Only in recent times have figures like Rio and Riya appeared; if they hadn’t, perhaps the world would have always remained incapable of properly dealing with the demon race.

...

"It’s a shame that I couldn’t show you all the great tourist attraction spots of our nation because of all that happened..."

"But I hope that you all will come to visit again in the future, and the next time, our nation will be able to show its full beauty to you..."

Hearing Miki’s words, Lia shook her head and replied calmly,

"No, Miki, the Beast Archipelago is a very nice place; we have all seen it with our own eyes..."

"The various islands, the various different cultures, and the various different types of beast folk... we saw them all on our trip..."

"Although the vacation was cut short because of the unpleasant incident that happened at an unfortunate time, we are all happy that we came here."

Rio and the others also nodded their heads at those words.

Riya even nodded her head and said excitedly,

"The candies here are top-notch; if I get the chance, I would visit again someday pretty soon!"

"You already have my contact information; if you need my help in healing ever again, just call me, and I will be there soon."

In this time of need, they had already done what they could to help Miki and her people; Riya even left her contact information behind just in case, for the sake of giving a ray of hope to Miki to rely on at times of need.

Now, it was up to the beast nation to work hard and slowly walk out of the dark shadow left behind by the demon armies and move on to a better and brighter future.

Miki shook hands with the whole group and declared to Lia and Riya with a happy smile on her face,

"Don’t worry, I won’t lose hope just because of one incident. Now, I have friends like you that I can rely on, so there’s no need for me to be depressed anymore..."

"I will work hard and become strong enough to help my father shoulder his burdens...."

"And maybe, the next time we meet each other, I might also be able to find my soulmate too, just like you all, hehe~"

Although her values were different than Lia and Riya, Miki was not heartless and emotionless.

She had the same emotions as any other girl, and she wanted to have someone special too, just like everyone else.

Spending time with Lia and the others only gave her the necessary push that she needed to convince herself to become better, not only as an awakener but as an individual.

"Hehe, we look forward to that day then."

Lia and Riya both nodded at Miki, shook hands, and then walked with the rest of the group towards the spaceship that they had used to arrive at the Beast Archipelago before.

Looking at the fading figure of her new friends, Miki clenched her fists as flames of determination appeared in her eyes.

’I can’t keep wasting time on flaunting the fact that I am the most powerful in my nation...’

’The world is big and vast; there are dozens of talented people out there like me, but none of them can catch up to people like Rio and the rest...’

’If I want to achieve the same feats as them all, I need to put aside my arrogance and start putting more efforts into training... I can’t always just keep relying on my father for everything...’

The demon invasion incident was like a wake-up call for Miki.

She had now realized that even if her father were an SS-ranker, there were some things that even he could not do; even he had his limits!

As the leader of a nation, her father’s first priority was his duty to his nation; his feelings for his daughter and fame came second on his priority list.

In times when he had to choose between the two, Riku would be forced into a dilemma and would likely have to choose his duty first, just like he did during the demon invasion incident, when he chose to protect the nation instead of rushing to protect her first.

Due to this incident, Miki was now clear that she needed to get strong herself, as only her own strength could be considered the most reliable ally in times of need.

She needed to grow up fast and become strong enough so that she wouldn’t have to flaunt her backing; instead, others would flaunt her as being their backing!
