The Demon King looked straight into Rio’s eyes and spoke.

"That’s why I waited for you to appear, Rio. Miasma would not let me die, so I can’t use the second method to burn up my life and establish a connection in that radical method either..."

"Even if anyone from the world alliance kills me, I would only be revived or completely erased by miasma."

The Demon King stretched out his hand towards Rio and spoke,

"To think you would willingly wish for something like that... but you do know that you can’t just stand there and let me kill you, right?"

"Miasma would shatter your mind instantly if you surrendered to me; it would destroy you from inside out and make you go berserk."

"If you really want to be killed by me, you would need to fight me with all you have got like a real warrior, and I would need to kill you in a proper duel, or this plan of yours will not work."

"Moreover, why should I help you? What’s in it for me?"

Rio shook his head and glanced in the direction of the red moon brightly shining in the dark-cloud-filled sky and spoke,

"You may have waited a thousand years and might be the most pitiful person in the world, but that has nothing to do with me."

"I am no hero; I have no obligation to help you. How about you propose a deal that I would like instead?"

Actually, Rio was going to fight the Demon King regardless of whether the other party offered anything or not, mainly for his own ascension, if not for anything else.

But helping the Demon King for free was not in his ideal scenarios.

Although the Demon King Nebo Dahaka was fairly peaceful compared to other Demon Kings, Rio still hadn’t forgotten that this guy had almost killed Ashtel a while ago and was even the main person who drove Lia towards her death in the original timeline!

Maybe fate was being suppressed and bent by Rio, and thus Lia didn’t fall in darkness and never interacted with the Demon King, but as long as this guy exists, the chances of Lia suffering due to him will continue to exist.
